250W RMS, 94 dB. The dedicated mid-bass component for 2014+ H-D fairing positions.

The Cicada Audio CM65.2X is a 6.5-inch 2Ω mid-bass component speaker — 250W RMS, 94 dB sensitivity, Carbon Matrix Composite™ (CMC™) cone, OFC copper shorting ring, Black Coat™ OFC 2.0-inch voice coil, N35SH neodymium motor, and a die-cast aluminium basket with Vortex Flow Venting™. Designed for 2014+ Harley-Davidson factory fairing positions. Sold in pairs.

The CM65.2X is a dedicated mid-bass driver — no tweeter, no crossover — for builders running active DSP systems or component builds where the mid-bass driver and tweeter operate on separate channels or from a dedicated external crossover. In the same 2014+ H-D factory mounting footprint as the CHX65.2 coaxial, the CM65.2X focuses entirely on mid-bass reproduction: CMC™ cone construction, 94 dB sensitivity, and an OFC copper shorting ring that reduces inductance modulation distortion and extends useful upper-frequency response. For a fairing position where control of the crossover point matters more than the convenience of a coaxial, this is the component option.

Who This Speaker Is For

For riders building active or component front stages on 2014+ Harley-Davidson Touring models. The CM65.2X is the 2Ω version, correct for dedicated 2Ω-rated amplifiers in stereo. For bridged configurations or 4Ω builds, the CM65.4X is the 4Ω variant. For an all-in-one coaxial option in the same position, the CHX65.2 includes the horn tweeter and crossover.

What This Is Best For

  • Active DSP front stage builds on 2014+ Street Glide, Road Glide, and Touring models — the CM65.2X in the factory fairing position, driven by dedicated channels on a DSP amplifier (FLX700.4PRO, FLX1400.4PRO) or DSP processor (DSP412PRO), with a separate tweeter on its own channel. This gives full control over crossover frequency, slope, and level — not available with a coaxial.
  • Passive component system builds — pairing the CM65.2X with a dedicated tweeter and an external passive crossover network. The 2014+ H-D factory position provides the mid-bass location; the tweeter mounts separately in the fairing for optimal high-frequency positioning.
  • High-efficiency front stage builds — at 94 dB sensitivity, the CM65.2X is more efficient than most coaxial alternatives in the same position, reducing the amplifier effort required to achieve target output levels at highway speed.
  • Builds stepping up from a coaxial to a component stage — riders who want tuning control and better separation of mid-bass and high-frequency reproduction over what an integrated coaxial can provide.

2Ω vs 4Ω — Choosing the Right Version

The CM65.2X is a 2Ω mid-bass driver. Choose the 2Ω version when running a dedicated 2Ω-rated amplifier in stereo — the FLX1400.4 and FLX2000.4 publish their rated output at 2Ω, where the CM65.2X delivers its full 250W RMS capacity. For bridged amplifier configurations requiring a 4Ω minimum load, the CM65.4X (4Ω) is the correct choice.

The Bottom Line

250W RMS, 94 dB, 6.5-inch mid-bass component with CMC™ cone and OFC copper shorting ring — the dedicated mid-bass driver for active and component front stages in 2014+ H-D fairing positions.

Ready to build? Add to cart above. For the 4Ω variant, the CM65.4X is the same driver at 4Ω. For an all-in-one coaxial in the same position, the CHX65.2 includes the horn tweeter and crossover.

What's Inside the CM65.2X

The mid-bass cone is Carbon Matrix Composite™ (CMC™) — lightweight, rigid, and thermally stable under sustained high-output operation. The 2.0-inch / 51mm Black Coat™ OFC copper voice coil handles sustained 250W RMS with high conductivity and low thermal resistance. As a dedicated mid-bass driver with no tweeter to divide the signal, the cone operates across the full mid-bass range — the CMC™ material's stiffness keeps its resonant characteristics consistent across extended use. On the road: tight, defined mid-bass from the factory fairing position with consistent character across a full day's riding at output.

The OFC copper shorting ring is mounted in the motor gap — a conductive sleeve that counteracts the voice coil's inductance variation as the coil moves. The effect is a reduction in second and third harmonic distortion (which a fluctuating inductance otherwise generates) and a flatter impedance curve at higher frequencies, extending usable response beyond what the driver would achieve without it. In a component system where the active crossover point is set in DSP, the shorting ring's distortion reduction is most audible in the upper mid-range — the frequency band where inductance modulation creates the most audible coloration. On the road: cleaner upper mid-bass and vocal presence — the frequency range that carries speech intelligibility and instrument body over road and wind noise.

The motor is an N35SH neodymium with H-grade temperature rating. The die-cast aluminium basket with Vortex Flow Venting™ channels airflow through the motor assembly for active thermal management. No external crossover is included or required — the CM65.2X is designed to be driven via a DSP active crossover or passive component network at the system level.

Sensitivity and Frequency Coverage

At 94 dB (1W/1m) and 250W RMS, the CM65.2X delivers front-stage mid-bass output that exceeds the efficiency of the CHX65 coaxials in the same position by 2 dB. The difference is meaningful in a highway environment: 2 dB less amplifier effort for the same perceived level, or 2 dB more output from the same amplifier. Frequency response runs 70 Hz – 10 kHz (±3 dB) — the upper limit appropriate for mid-bass operation in a component system before the dedicated tweeter takes over. In an active DSP setup, the crossover point is set to match the tweeter's lower operating limit, typically 3–8 kHz depending on the tweeter used.

Why 2Ω — Amplifier Pairing

At 2Ω, the CM65.2X extracts full rated output from any 2Ω-stable motorcycle amplifier. For active DSP builds, the FLX700.4PRO and FLX1400.4PRO provide DSP crossover control and dedicated amplifier channels for both mid-bass and tweeter from a single unit. For high-output stereo builds without DSP, the FLX1400.4 and FLX2000.4 publish their rated output at 2Ω stereo. For bridged configurations, the CM65.4X satisfies the 4Ω minimum load requirement.

Fitment

  • Designed for 2014+ H-D factory speaker locations — direct-fit for the standard fairing speaker position on Harley-Davidson Touring models from 2014 onward.
  • 2014+ Harley-Davidson Touring fairing positions: Street Glide, Road Glide, Ultra Classic, Ultra Limited, Road King (where applicable), and other 2014+ Touring models with the standard 5.67-inch factory cutout.
  • Mounting Depth: 58 mm (2.3 in). Mounting Diameter (cutout): 144 mm (5.67 in).
  • No external crossover required — designed for active DSP systems or passive component crossover at the system level.
  • Requires a dedicated external amplifier — FLX700.4PRO, FLX1400.4PRO, FLX1400.4, or other 2Ω-stable motorcycle amplifiers.
