Head Units
Aftermarket head units replace the factory Harley radio with a unit that delivers better sound quality, more connection options, and proper line-level outputs for an amplifier. Swapping the head unit is often the right starting point on pre-2014 bikes and on any build where you want Bluetooth streaming, Apple CarPlay or Android Auto as part of the system.
Head unit compatibility is platform-specific. Pre-Rushmore 1998–2013 batwing bikes and 1998–2014 Road Glides use a conventional radio aperture — most single-DIN aftermarket units fit directly. The 2014–2023 Boom! Box GTS is a fully integrated unit; many riders keep it and add an amplifier rather than replacing it. The 2024+ Skyline OS platform is different again — head unit replacement options are limited and most 2024+ owners retain the factory unit and add an amplifier via the NAV-TV ZEN-H interface.
SoundStream's V2 multimedia unit is the benchmark for most 2014–2023 builds where a head unit swap makes sense. MAA stocks it alongside alternatives for specific use cases. If you're not sure whether your platform calls for a head unit swap or just an amplifier, call us — it's a common question with a clear answer once we know your bike and goals.
