Midrange speakers handle the frequency band from roughly 200 Hz to 5 kHz — the range that carries most of the detail in music and voice. Used with a dedicated tweeter, a midrange driver in the fairing speaker position will outperform a coaxial of equivalent size in the same location, particularly at speed.

Midrange-only installs require a crossover to block frequencies the driver can't handle. Many midrange drivers include a passive crossover or are designed around one — check individual listings for what's included. MAA can advise on midrange and tweeter pairing for your specific build.
