When 6.5" and 6×9" are no longer enough
The Precision Power MAS.802HT is an 8" 2Ω horn-loaded coaxial speaker designed for custom fairing enclosures, aftermarket speaker pods, and touring audio builds with room for an 8" driver. At 95 dB sensitivity and 200W RMS handling, with a horn-loaded titanium ring radiator tweeter, the MAS.802HT delivers a level of output and projection that no standard 6.5" or 6×9" speaker in this format can match — but it requires a build designed to accommodate it.
More cone area means more air moved. More air moved means more output at every frequency the woofer covers. This is not a marginal difference — an 8" driver in a properly designed enclosure produces audibly more midbass authority and maximum output ceiling than a 6.5" driver in the same position. Combined with a horn-loaded tweeter that focuses and amplifies high-frequency energy, the MAS.802HT is in a different output category from the standard MAS coaxial range.
The trade-off is straightforward: the MAS.802HT is not a drop-in replacement for factory fairing positions. It requires a custom fairing, aftermarket enclosure, or speaker pod with an 8" cutout. If you are building that kind of system, and you want the highest-output coaxial speaker Precision Power makes in this format, this is the one.
Who This Is For
Riders building custom touring audio systems — bagger builds, aftermarket fairing setups, or purpose-built enclosures — where space exists for an 8" speaker and maximum output is the design goal. The MAS.802HT requires a capable 2Ω-stable amplifier producing 150–250W RMS per channel and DSP control in a multi-speaker system. It pairs with the MAS.652HT and MAS.692HT for complete front-to-rear coverage in a full horn-loaded system build.
What This Is Best For
- Custom bagger and aftermarket fairing builds — Where a larger speaker cutout exists in the design, the MAS.802HT makes full use of that space to produce output levels that smaller format speakers cannot deliver.
- Maximum output motorcycle audio systems — The combination of 8" cone area, 95 dB sensitivity, and horn-loaded tweeter projection produces a ceiling of output that no standard-format coaxial upgrade can reach from a comparable mounting position.
- Complete MAS horn-loaded system builds — Sits at the top of a full front-to-rear horn-loaded system alongside MAS.652HT fairing speakers and MAS.692HT saddlebag speakers, where output consistency and driver technology are matched across all positions.
- Bi-amp configurations — Dedicated tweeter terminals allow separate amplifier channels to drive the woofer and tweeter independently for maximum control in high-output builds.
Not a factory fitment. The MAS.802HT requires a custom fairing, aftermarket enclosure, or speaker pod with an 8" speaker cutout. It will not fit factory Harley-Davidson® fairing or Tour-Pak® positions without significant modification or custom fabrication.
Amplifier and DSP required. A 2Ω-stable amplifier producing 150–250W RMS per channel is recommended. DSP is strongly recommended — in a high-output system built around 8" horn-loaded speakers, DSP is the difference between a system that performs and one that is simply loud.
Professional installation recommended for custom enclosure builds where 8" speakers are integrated into non-standard mounting positions.

The Bottom Line
The MAS.802HT is the right choice when the build demands maximum output and the enclosure has been designed to support it. More cone area, horn-loaded tweeter projection, and 200W RMS handling — it is the top of the Precision Power MAS horn-loaded range, and it earns that position by delivering output that no smaller driver in this format can replicate.
For matched front fairing and rear saddlebag speakers, see the MAS.652HT and MAS.692HT.
What's Inside
Titanium ring radiator tweeter with integrated horn and phase plug. The MAS.802HT uses the same ring radiator and horn assembly as the MAS.652HT and MAS.692HT — a tweeter design that produces a focused, directional wave front with higher SPL and longer throw than a conventional dome. The horn geometry amplifies tweeter output in the forward direction; the phase plug maintains phase coherence across the crossover region. In an 8" coaxial, this tweeter assembly produces a driver with the output authority of a large woofer cone and the high-frequency projection of a dedicated horn tweeter.
Neodymium motor with polypropylene-coated paper cone. A low-mass neodymium motor drives a reinforced polypropylene-coated paper 8" woofer cone. The 8" cone area moves significantly more air than a 6.5" or 6×9" driver — translating directly to more output at midbass frequencies where the scale and energy of music is felt as much as heard. A 1.75" oxygen-free copper voice coil on a thermally absorbent aluminium former manages heat under sustained amplified operation at 200W RMS.
Integrated 12 dB high-pass crossover with bi-amp capability. The internal crossover network rolls off low frequencies before they reach the tweeter, with a 12 dB per octave slope for cleaner separation than the standard MAS coaxials' 6 dB crossover. Dedicated tweeter terminals allow true bi-amped operation with the jumper removed, giving DSP-equipped builds the ability to run the woofer and tweeter from separate amplifier channels with independent level control.
Glass fibre reinforced ABS basket and rubber surround. The basket construction provides the structural rigidity required for an 8" driver in a custom enclosure that may experience significant vibration. The rubber surround resists moisture, road spray, and the thermal cycling of a motorcycle environment. No grilles are included; grille selection is part of the custom enclosure build.
Sensitivity and Frequency Coverage
At 95 dB (1W/1m), the MAS.802HT matches the MAS.692HT as the highest-sensitivity driver in the MAS range — appropriate for a speaker expected to lead the output in a high-power custom build. The 80 Hz – 22 kHz frequency response reflects the crossover-limited lower extension of the coaxial design; sub-bass below 80 Hz should be handled by a separate subwoofer in any system serious about low-end reproduction. In a properly tuned system with a DSP, the MAS.802HT operates across its most efficient range, producing maximum midrange and upper-bass output without exceeding the driver's mechanical limits at the low end.
Why 2Ω
The 2Ω configuration draws more current from the amplifier channel — appropriate for a high-output 8" speaker rated at 200W RMS, where the amplifier is expected to deliver sustained high current. Confirm that your amplifier is stable at 2Ω per channel before pairing with the MAS.802HT. In a full multi-speaker horn-loaded system, all MAS horn-loaded speakers are 2Ω, so amplifier selection can be consistent across positions.
Fitment
The MAS.802HT requires a custom fairing, aftermarket enclosure, or speaker pod with an 8" speaker cutout. It is not a direct OEM replacement for factory Harley-Davidson® speaker positions. Contact Motorcycle Audio Australia if you need assistance specifying the correct enclosure or integration approach for your build.
| Application | Notes |
