Harley-Davidson Trike Audio Upgrades — 2014 to 2025
The 2014–2025 generation covers Harley-Davidson's Boom! Box-era trikes before Skyline OS arrived. The Tri Glide® Ultra stayed on the same basic batwing fairing and four-speaker layout throughout the run, moving from the Boom! Box 6.5GT to the GTS from 2019 without adopting the redesigned 2024 two-wheel Touring platform. That means a 2024 or 2025 Tri Glide Ultra is still fundamentally a Boom! Box trike, not a Skyline OS or A2B bike.
There are three distinct factory audio configurations within this era. The standard Tri Glide Ultra uses four 5.25-inch speakers in the fairing and rear body. The 2020–2022 CVO™ Tri Glide adds factory amplification and upgraded speakers, so its upgrade path starts from a different point. The 2023–2025 Road Glide® 3 uses a sharknose fairing with two 5.25-inch front speakers and no factory rear speaker position. The Freewheeler® is not included in the normal fitment path here because it does not use the factory fairing and audio system fitted to the Tri Glide and Road Glide 3.
Many speakers, amplifiers and mounting solutions span multiple years within this generation, but radio integration, factory amplification and model-specific mounting still need to be matched correctly. Do not assume that a part listed for a 2024 or newer Street Glide or Road Glide will also suit a 2024 or 2025 trike.
What Matters on 2014–2025 Trikes
- Still Boom! Box in 2024 and 2025: the Tri Glide Ultra did not move to Skyline OS with the two-wheel Touring redesign, so it does not require an A2B interface.
- Stable Tri Glide speaker layout: the standard Tri Glide Ultra retained its four-speaker configuration across the 2014–2025 run, even as the factory radio changed from 6.5GT to GTS.
- CVO models start from a different system: the 2020–2022 CVO Tri Glide already has factory amplification and upgraded speakers, so amplifier and speaker changes need to account for the original premium audio system.
- Road Glide 3 is a front-stage platform: the 2023–2025 Road Glide 3 has two factory fairing speakers and no Tour-Pak rear speaker position.
- Trike-specific amplifier mounting: these bikes use dedicated under-seat and frame-mounted amplifier solutions rather than the saddlebag locations commonly used on two-wheel Touring builds.
- Fitment still matters: many parts cross multiple years, but radio integration, factory amplification and model-specific hardware should always be checked before ordering.
FAQ
Does a 2024 or 2025 Tri Glide need an A2B interface?
No. The 2024 and 2025 Tri Glide Ultra remained on the Boom! Box GTS platform and did not receive Skyline OS. A2B integration does not apply to these bikes. Skyline OS and A2B arrive in the trike range with the redesigned 2026 models.
Are 2014–2025 Tri Glide Ultra speaker upgrades the same?
The standard Tri Glide Ultra kept the same basic four-speaker layout across this period, with two 5.25-inch speakers in the fairing and two at the rear. That gives strong parts commonality across the run, but radio integration and factory-amplified CVO models still need to be checked separately.
What is different about the CVO Tri Glide?
The 2020–2022 CVO Tri Glide was factory amplified and used a higher-spec audio system than the standard Tri Glide Ultra. That means an upgrade is not simply a matter of treating it like a radio-powered four-speaker bike. The factory amplifier, speaker configuration and signal path all need to be considered when planning the replacement system.
What is different about the Road Glide 3?
The 2023–2025 Road Glide 3 uses a sharknose fairing and a two-speaker factory front stage. It has no Tour-Pak rear speaker position, so its factory layout is different from the four-speaker Tri Glide Ultra. Tour-Pak and saddlebag speaker parts from other Touring builds do not automatically apply.
Where does an amplifier mount on a Harley trike?
Harley trikes use dedicated amplifier mounting rather than the saddlebag locations common on two-wheel Touring bikes. Under-seat and frame-mounted solutions are used on trike applications, with the exact location and hardware depending on the model, amplifier and system design.
Why isn't the Freewheeler included in the normal audio fitment?
The Freewheeler does not use the factory fairing and infotainment system fitted to the Tri Glide Ultra and Road Glide 3. Audio upgrades on a Freewheeler are therefore planned as a more custom build rather than following the same speaker and integration path as the factory-audio trikes in this collection.
