Level 3 horn coaxial front stage for 2014–2023 Harley Touring — FLX500.4 amplifier and CH65.4C horn coaxial fairing speakers
The Cicada Audio 14FLXCH-4X2 is the Level 3 front stage upgrade for 2014–2023 Harley-Davidson® Touring models. Built around the FLX500.4 4-channel Class-D amplifier and a pair of CH65.4C 4Ω horn coaxial 6.5″ speakers in the fairing positions, it integrates via the HDFiMY front input Y-adaptor and HDFLXFo output harness. Select Road Glide or Street Glide at checkout and the correct model-specific amplifier rack and branded grilles are included.
The 14FLXCH-4X2 replaces the front stage of the standard bagger kits with CH65.4C horn coaxial speakers. Where the 14FLXCXX-4X2 uses CXX Pro Coaxials at the fairing, this kit steps up to the horn-loaded tweeter design for higher projection from the fairing position. Amplifier, wiring, and harness are front-only — the correct choice when a rear upgrade is not part of the current build. For the complete front-and-rear Level 3 system with a Tour-Pak, see the 14FLXPCHCXX-4X4U.
Who This Is For
Riders on 2014–2023 Harley-Davidson® Touring models upgrading the fairing speakers to the CH horn coaxial series — either as a standalone front stage, or as the first phase of a staged build where rear speakers will be added later. The FLX500.4 amplifier, 8 AWG wiring, and front Molex® harnesses are front-only — no rear speaker connections are included. For the front stage with standard CXX Pro Coaxials, see the 14FLXCXX-4X2.
What This Is Best For
- CH65.4C horn coaxials — directional high-frequency projection from the fairing — the CH65.4C uses a horn-loaded tweeter that concentrates the high-frequency output forward into the rider's listening position. Standard dome tweeters radiate in a broad hemisphere; the horn narrows that dispersion and directs energy where it matters. At 4Ω, the CH65.4C is matched to the FLX500.4 across both front channels.
- FLX500.4 — dedicated amplification for the fairing stage — the FLX500.4 provides clean, stable power to the CH65.4C front pair. A Class-D design built for the Harley fairing environment — compact, efficient, and correctly sized for an 8 AWG power run. The same amplifier platform used across the full 14FLX front-stage range.
- Front-only harness configuration — HDFiMY and HDFLXFo — the HDFiMY Y-adaptor takes the factory front signal and routes it to the FLX500.4's input; the HDFLXFo output harness connects the amplified front channels back to the fairing speakers. No rear harnesses, no rear channels — a clean front-only integration with no unused connector sets.
- Complete kit — everything for the front stage — amplifier, CH65.4C speaker pair, HDFiMY Y-adaptor, HDFLXFo output harness, 8 AWG wiring kit, model-specific amplifier rack, and branded fairing grilles. Road Glide or Street Glide variant selected at checkout.
Road Glide or Street Glide?
The amplifier, speakers, harnesses, and wiring are identical in both variants. What differs is the model-specific mounting hardware. The Road Glide variant includes the 14HDAR-RG amplifier rack and CHDRGG kidney grilles. The Street Glide variant includes the 14HDAR-SG amplifier rack and CHDSGG batwing grilles.
This System Requires a Radio Flash
Before installing any amplified audio upgrade on a 2014–2023 Harley-Davidson® Touring model, the factory Infotainment radio needs to be flashed. Stock firmware applies EQ curves, dynamic compression, and output limiting that remain active after the amplifier is installed. A radio flash takes approximately 30 minutes and costs roughly $150–$300 AUD (TechnoResearch or any authorised Harley-Davidson® dealer). The flash is required — not optional.
The Bottom Line
The Level 3 front stage — FLX500.4 amplifier, CH65.4C horn coaxial fairing speakers, front Molex® harnesses, 8 AWG wiring, model-specific rack, and branded grilles. Front-only, correct for staged builds and fairing-only upgrades. Select Road Glide or Street Glide above. For the complete front-and-rear Level 3 PRO system with Tour-Pak, see the 14FLXPCHCXX-4X4U.

The FLX500.4 Amplifier
The FLX500.4 is a 4-channel Class-D amplifier designed for Harley-Davidson® Touring fairing installations. It provides clean, stable power to the CH65.4C front pair without requiring a battery upgrade or 4 AWG power wiring. On the road: with a dedicated amplified front stage, the CH65.4C horn coaxials receive consistent power from a purpose-built motorcycle amplifier rather than from the factory head unit's limited output — the difference in dynamic range and projection is significant, particularly at highway speed.
The CH65.4C Horn Coaxial Speakers
The CH65.4C is Cicada Audio's 6.5″ horn coaxial speaker at 4Ω — a horn-loaded tweeter matched to a woofer cone optimised for the fairing position. The horn concentrates high-frequency energy into the rider's listening axis. At 4Ω on the FLX500.4 front channels, the CH65.4C receives substantial power for a front-stage speaker. On the road: horn coaxials project vocals and detail through the fairing and into the wind more effectively than dome tweeters — the directional quality of the horn means less energy is lost sideways into the fairing cavity and more of it reaches the rider.
Front Harness Configuration
The HDFiMY Y-adaptor harness is the front input connection for the FLX500.4 — it picks up the factory front signal from the head unit and routes it to the amplifier's input channels. The HDFLXFo harness connects the amplifier's front output channels to the fairing speaker connectors. Together these two harnesses handle the complete signal path between the head unit, the amplifier, and the CH65.4C speakers. On the road: a clean plug-and-play front integration — no cutting, no splicing, no unused connector sets hanging behind the fairing.
