Sound Deadening
Acoustic treatment reduces the resonance and vibration in plastic fairing panels and saddlebag lids that otherwise colour your audio at any volume. Harley Touring fairing panels are large, thin-walled and unsupported — they resonate at bass frequencies and can physically rattle at volume. Treating the panels before installing speakers is the step that separates a controlled, tight sound from one that sounds cheap regardless of component quality.
SoundSkins Pro produces pre-cut acoustic treatment kits designed to fit specific Harley-Davidson Touring fairings and saddlebag lids without trimming. Each kit includes butyl-backed aluminium damping material for mass-loading the panel, and optionally a foam decoupling layer for additional isolation. The pre-cut format means installation takes 30–60 minutes per position rather than a full day of template work.
Sound deadening is most effective on the inner face of the fairing panel and the inner face of the saddlebag lid — the two positions where speaker output directly excites the surrounding plastic. Install before speakers if possible; it's significantly harder to retrofit around an installed driver. Ships Australia-wide and to New Zealand.
