6x9 Speakers
6×9" speakers fit the saddlebag lid positions on Harley-Davidson Touring models from 2014 onwards, where the oval cutout in the aftermarket saddlebag lid accepts the 6×9" driver basket. The 6×9" format allows more cone area and greater low-frequency extension than a round 6.5" driver in the same position — useful for a rear stage that needs to fill space behind the rider without a separate subwoofer.
Factory saddlebag lids are solid — they have no speaker cutouts. Aftermarket saddlebag lids with a 6×9" cutout are required for this position, and the lid and speaker need to be ordered together if you're starting from scratch. Lid styles vary between providers; some include mounting hardware, others require a separate hardware kit. MAA can confirm what's needed for your specific year and model.
Impedance is important in saddlebag builds: if you're bridging an amp channel into two saddlebag speakers, 4Ω drivers present 8Ω bridged — within the safe operating range for most amplifiers. 2Ω drivers bridged can push an amp into stress.
