Fairing Speakers — Choosing the Right Type
Most Harley touring fairings take a 6.5" driver — Street Glide batwing and Road Glide sharknose both use this size from 1998 onwards. Earlier models (pre-2006 batwing) use 5.25". If you're unsure which size fits your bike, check the by-bike collections or contact us before ordering.
Coaxials are the simplest upgrade — one driver, direct fit, meaningful improvement over factory. Best for riders who want better sound without complexity.
Horn-loaded speakers deliver higher efficiency and more projection at speed. The compression driver design cuts through wind noise better than conventional speakers — preferred choice for highway riders who want volume and clarity without turning the amp up.
Component and midrange drivers are for builds where imaging and staging matter. Used alongside tweeters and a DSP, they produce a wider soundstage and cleaner separation than any coaxial can match. Requires more planning and installation effort.
Amplification makes everything work harder. Fairing speakers on factory power rarely deliver more than 15–20W per channel. A dedicated amplifier — even a modest 4-channel — transforms output, clarity and bass response. If you're investing in quality speakers, pair them with proper power.
