Complete front-and-rear Level 2 system for 2014–2023 Harley Touring — FLX500.4 amplifier, CXX65.2 pro coaxial fairing speakers, CXX69.2 saddlebag lids, model-specific fit

The Cicada Audio 14FLXCXX-4X4 is the Level 2 complete front-and-rear audio upgrade for 2014–2023 Harley-Davidson® Touring models. Built around the FLX500.4 4-channel Class-D amplifier and matched pairs of 2Ω CXX65.2 pro coaxial fairing speakers and 2Ω CXX69.2 pro coaxial saddlebag lid speakers, it steps up output, projection, and vocal clarity over the standard CX-series system — using the same FLX500.4 amplifier and 8 AWG wiring platform. Select your model variant — Road Glide or Street Glide — and the kit ships with the correct model-specific amplifier rack and Cicada branded fairing grilles.

The 14FLXCXX-4X4 and the 14FLXCX-4X4 share the same amplifier, wiring, and harness configuration. The difference is the speakers: the CXX series uses a carbon matrix cone and a higher-output voice coil where the CX uses IMPP. If the front-stage-only version better matches your build, see the 14FLXCXX-4X2.

Who This Is For

Riders on 2014–2023 Harley-Davidson® Touring models who want the complete amplified front-and-rear system and are choosing between the Level 1 and Level 2 speaker tier. The 14FLXCXX-4X4 is the correct choice when both fairing and saddlebag lids are being upgraded in one install and the CXX Pro Coaxial speaker performance is the priority. The amplifier, wiring, and harness configuration are identical to the 14FLXCX-4X4 — the upgrade is entirely in the speakers. For the front-stage-only CXX system, see the 14FLXCXX-4X2.

What This Is Best For

  • CXX Pro Coaxial speakers front and rear — the CXX65.2 and CXX69.2 use a carbon matrix cone in place of the standard IMPP — stiffer, lighter, and more consistent at sustained output levels. The larger voice coil delivers higher sensitivity and better projection into the airstream, which matters at highway speed where the CX's output starts to disappear into background noise first. Both speakers are 2Ω, matched to the FLX500.4 at its rated output across all four channels.
  • Same power platform as Level 1 — no extra infrastructure needed — the FLX500.4 drives all four CXX speakers at 125W RMS per channel into 2Ω. The 8 AWG HDPG8K wiring is correctly sized for this system's current draw; no battery upgrade, no 4 AWG wiring run required. Riders upgrading from a 14FLXCX-4X4 to this system change only the speakers — the rack, harnesses, and wiring carry over unchanged.
  • Complete front-and-rear install in one box — every required component is included: amplifier, front speakers, rear speakers, saddlebag lid cut-in kit, 8 AWG power wiring, front and rear Molex® input harnesses, front and rear Molex® output harnesses, model-specific amplifier rack, and branded fairing grilles. One kit, one install.
  • 2Ω matched throughout — both the CXX65.2 and the CXX69.2 are 2Ω designs, matched to the FLX500.4 rated output front and rear. No impedance compromise or mismatched load at either end of the system.
  • Model-specific hardware — the Road Glide variant includes the 14HDAR-RG amplifier rack and CHDRGG branded kidney grilles. The Street Glide variant includes the 14HDAR-SG rack and CHDSGG branded batwing grilles. Select your model at checkout.

Road Glide or Street Glide?

The amplifier, speakers, wiring, harnesses, and saddlebag lid kit are identical in both variants. What differs is the model-specific mounting hardware. The Road Glide variant includes the 14HDAR-RG amplifier rack and CHDRGG kidney grilles. The Street Glide variant includes the 14HDAR-SG amplifier rack and CHDSGG batwing grilles. If you're unsure: Road Glide has a shark-nose fairing, Street Glide has a batwing fairing.

This System Requires a Radio Flash

Before installing any amplified audio upgrade on a 2014–2023 Harley-Davidson® Touring model, the factory Infotainment radio needs to be flashed. The stock firmware applies heavy EQ curves, dynamic compression, and output limiting tuned around the factory speaker system — these remain active after the amplifier is installed and will undercut everything this system does. A radio flash takes approximately 30 minutes and costs roughly $150–$300 AUD (TechnoResearch or any authorised Harley-Davidson® dealer with Screamin' Eagle® Flash tooling). The flash is required — not optional.

The Bottom Line

The Level 2 complete front-and-rear system — FLX500.4 amplifier, CXX65.2 pro coaxial fairing speakers, CXX69.2 pro coaxial saddlebag lid speakers, 8 AWG wiring, full harness set, lid cut-in kit, amplifier rack, and branded grilles. Select Road Glide or Street Glide above and add to cart. For the Level 1 system with standard CX coaxial speakers at a lower price point, see the 14FLXCX-4X4.

The FLX500.4 Amplifier

The FLX500.4 is a 4-channel Class-D amplifier designed for Harley-Davidson® Touring fairing installations. At 125W RMS per channel into 2Ω, it delivers clean, stable power to all four CXX speakers simultaneously — front fairing and rear saddlebag lids — without requiring a battery upgrade or 4 AWG power wiring. On the road: with all four channels working, the system maintains balanced output across the bike at highway speed. The CXX Pro Coaxial speakers' higher sensitivity means each watt from the FLX500.4 produces more usable volume than the standard CX series — the same amplifier driving a louder, more projective result.

The CXX65.2 Front Speakers

The CXX65.2 is Cicada Audio's 6.5″ Pro Coaxial speaker at 2Ω — the step up from the standard CX65.2. The carbon matrix cone is stiffer and lighter than IMPP, maintaining linear excursion at higher output levels and reducing cone flex that bleeds power into heat rather than sound. The voice coil is wound for higher sensitivity — more acoustic output per watt of amplifier input. On the road: the CXX65.2 projects vocals and midrange with more authority from the fairing position. At highway speed, where the CX series starts to lose intelligibility in the wind, the CXX maintains clarity further up the volume curve.

The CXX69.2 Rear Speakers

The CXX69.2 brings the same Pro Coaxial architecture to the 6×9″ saddlebag lid position at 2Ω — carbon matrix cone, higher-sensitivity voice coil, matched to the FLX500.4 rear channels. The larger cone area of the 6×9″ format adds low-mid weight that a 6.5″ cannot produce at the same output level. On the road: the CXX69.2 in the saddlebag lids provides rear fill with genuine presence — not just background sound, but a real contribution to the overall system level that passengers notice and riders can balance against the front stage.

Why 8 AWG Wiring

The HDPG8K 8 AWG power and ground kit is correctly matched to the FLX500.4's current draw profile across all four channels. A 500W Class-D amplifier at music-level signal demand draws well within 8 AWG capacity. Running 4 AWG wiring on a system that doesn't require it adds cost and installation complexity without benefit. On the road: no voltage drop, no thermal stress on the wiring, no need to revisit the install. The HDPG8K is sized for this system and does the job cleanly.

Radio Flash — Required Before Installation

The 2014–2023 Harley-Davidson® Infotainment radio ships from the factory with firmware tuned around the stock speaker system. That firmware applies significant EQ curves, dynamic compression, bass roll-off at volume, and output limiting that caps usable signal before the amplifier can act on it. None of this is removed when you add an amplifier. Without a flash, the system will not perform as designed. With a flash, the EQ and limiters are removed, and the FLX500.4 operates on clean signal across all four channels. TechnoResearch is the most widely used flash service; any authorised Harley-Davidson® dealer can also perform the service.
