The last 6.5" fairing upgrade before going component.

The CXX65.2 is Cicada's Pro-series 6.5" fairing coaxial — the best coaxial this position supports before stepping into a multi-way component build. Kevlar cone, N45H neodymium motor, V8™ Dispersion Guide, 100W RMS, Rain or Shine™ weatherproof. Grills and mounting hardware included. Sold in pairs.

The CX65 range set the benchmark for a properly engineered fairing coaxial. The CXX65.2 is the next specification up — Kevlar replaces IMPP, N45H replaces N35, V8™ Dispersion Guide replaces DPSH®, polycarbonate basket replaces polymer frame. Same fitment. Higher build.

Who This Speaker Is For

Built for riders running a dedicated amplified front stage who want the top of the coaxial range in the 6.5" fairing position. Also runs directly from a Boom! Box GTS as a plug-in step up over factory. Paired with a FLX500.4 or FLX700.4, it's the best coaxial fairing build the position supports. For bridged-amp configurations or a more conservative build, the CXX65.4 is the 4Ω variant.

What This Is Best For

  • The amplified fairing stage, done properly — running from a Cicada FLX500.4 or FLX700.4, the CXX65.2 is the best coaxial this position supports. Kevlar cone, N45H motor, and V8™ Dispersion Guide driven by proper amplifier power. Nothing coaxial does more from the 6.5" fairing location.
  • Upgrading from the CX65.2 — same fitment, same impedance, next level of build. Direct swap. The Kevlar cone, N45H motor, and V8™ Dispersion Guide are the difference you'll hear.
  • A GTS plug-in upgrade that's amplifier-ready — runs from stock power today, built for dedicated amplified operation when the build progresses.
  • The fairing stage in a staged build — start here, add CXX69.2 in the saddlebags or a subwoofer later. The Cicada ecosystem is designed to scale.

2Ω vs 4Ω — Choosing the Right Version

The CXX65.2 is a 2Ω speaker. The Harley Boom! Box GTS is already built around low-impedance speakers — Harley's stock fairing speakers are rated at 1.7Ω — and the CXX65.2 runs directly from it as a plug-in upgrade. For maximum output, a dedicated 2Ω-rated amplifier is where it properly comes alive. Most quality Harley-specific amplifiers and head units — including the Cicada FLX500.4, FLX700.4, Rockford Fosgate, Soundstream, and Diamond Audio — are 2Ω stable. Choose the CXX65.4 (4Ω) for bridged amplifier configurations or when a more conservative system with better amplifier thermal margin is the priority.

The Bottom Line

The best 6.5" coaxial this fairing position offers — Kevlar cone, N45H neodymium motor, V8™ 360° tweeter projection, 100W RMS, Rain or Shine™ weatherproof, in the same low-profile chassis that fits any 2014+ Harley-Davidson factory 6.5" speaker location. Runs from a Boom! Box GTS straight out of the box. Built for a dedicated amplified stage. Grills and mounting hardware included.

Ready to upgrade your fairing stage? Add to cart above. For bridged-amp configurations or a more conservative build, the CXX65.4 is the 4Ω variant.

What's Inside the CXX65.2

The cone is Kevlar — the woven aramid fibre used in aerospace and performance audio for its combination of low mass, high stiffness, and moisture resistance. Kevlar is lighter and stiffer than IMPP or polypropylene, which means it moves more precisely and distorts less as output climbs. It is also dimensionally stable across a wide temperature range — important for a speaker that may sit in a closed fairing in Australian summer heat before being called on to perform at full output. On the road: the music stays clean at volume, not just at low level.

The N45H neodymium motor is a step up from the N35 used in the CX65 range. The same physical motor size produces a stronger magnetic field — more flux density in the gap, better voice coil control at high excursion, and the H-temperature grade ensures the magnet holds its strength under sustained thermal load. The voice coil is copper wound, chosen for conductivity and thermal handling under extended drive. On the road: tighter, more controlled output at high volume and consistent performance across a full day of riding.

The tweeter is a 1.0-inch PEI dome loaded by the V8™ Dispersion Guide — Cicada's 360° tweeter projection system. Where the DPSH® in the CX range delivers wide horizontal dispersion, the V8™ is the higher-level system, engineered to spread high-frequency energy more evenly across the full listening area than a conventional directional horn. On the road: consistent treble coverage as your head moves — no dead spots, no narrow sweet spot that disappears at speed.

The custom-tooled polycarbonate basket is UV-stabilised and thermally resistant, maintaining driver alignment under the vibration and heat conditions of a motorcycle at speed. The built-in 6dB crossover is integrated into the assembly, protecting the tweeter from low-frequency energy without requiring an external crossover unit.

Sensitivity and Frequency Coverage

At 93 dB (1W/1m), the CXX65.2 is a high-sensitivity driver for a 6.5-inch coaxial. The 1 dB difference from the CX65's 94 dB figure reflects the Kevlar cone's efficiency profile — Kevlar is stiffer and heavier than IMPP, which affects nominal sensitivity, but the return is more controlled behaviour at high output and better performance under sustained load. In a fairing position driven by a proper amplifier, that difference is not audible.

Frequency response runs 55 Hz – 20 kHz (±3 dB) — a tighter tolerance than the CX65's ±5 dB specification, meaning more consistent output across the frequency range. The 55 Hz lower limit gives genuine bass extension for a 6.5-inch driver. In a build running saddlebag speakers alongside, the fairing stage covers the upper frequencies while the rear stage handles the low end.

Why 2Ω — Power and Output

A 2Ω speaker presents a lower electrical load to the amplifier than a 4Ω speaker. When the amplifier is rated for it, that lower load allows more power delivery — and on a motorcycle competing with wind noise and road noise at highway speed, that extra power is genuinely useful. An amplifier producing 100W RMS × 4 at 4Ω might produce 175W RMS × 4 at 2Ω from the same hardware. Harley's stock GTS fairing speakers are rated at 1.7Ω, so the CXX65.2 at 2Ω sits within the same design envelope and runs directly from the GTS as a plug-in upgrade.

The trade-off is current demand. A 2Ω load asks more from the amplifier — more heat, more stress, and less margin for poor wiring or voltage drop. The CXX65.2 should be paired with an amplifier genuinely rated for 2Ω operation — such as the FLX500.4 or FLX700.4 — and an install done properly.
