Cicada Audio CXX4.4 — 4" 4Ω Pro Coaxial Motorcycle Speakers (Pair)

Pro-series 4" construction built to run cool in compact positions.

The CXX4.4 is Cicada's Pro-series 4" coaxial — the 4Ω variant of the CXX4.2, built for bridged-amp configurations and systems where amplifier thermal margin matters. 100W RMS, 91 dB sensitivity, Kevlar cone, N45H neodymium motor, 0.75-inch PEI dome tweeter, V8™ Dispersion Guide for 360° tweeter projection, and Rain or Shine™ weatherproof construction. Sold in pairs.

The CXX4.4 shares everything that defines the CXX4 range — Kevlar cone, N45H neodymium motor, V8™ Dispersion Guide, custom-tooled polycarbonate basket, 100W RMS power handling. The difference from the CXX4.2 is impedance: the CXX4.4 presents a 4Ω load to the amplifier, with the lower current demand and better thermal margin that comes with it. For bridged amplifier configurations, or builds where conservative system design is the brief, the CXX4.4 is the correct impedance choice.

Who This Speaker Is For

For riders on Honda Gold Wing, BMW, and select Indian Motorcycle models with factory 4-inch speaker positions who want Pro-series quality with the conservative 4Ω impedance. This includes riders running bridged amplifier stages and builds where amplifier thermal margin is part of the system design. For maximum output from a dedicated 2Ω-rated amplifier, the CXX4.2 is the 2Ω variant.

What This Is Best For

  • Honda Gold Wing factory speaker positions — bridged or conservative builds — Pro-series replacement for OEM 4-inch fairing and dash positions with the 4Ω impedance that runs the amplifier cooler and satisfies the minimum load requirement for bridged configurations.
  • BMW touring factory 4" positions — the same Pro-series upgrade with the conservative impedance that suits builds where the amplifier is already working hard across multiple speaker positions simultaneously.
  • Bridged amplifier configurations — when the channel driving the 4-inch position is bridged for higher output, the CXX4.4 satisfies the 4Ω minimum load requirement. Match the bridged output level to the speaker's 100W RMS rated capacity.
  • Uniform 4Ω Pro builds across all positions — pairs naturally with CXX65.4, CXX69.4, and CXX525.4 for builds where consistent 4Ω impedance across every speaker position is the goal, simplifying amplifier matching and reducing overall current demand.

4Ω vs 2Ω — Choosing the Right Version

The CXX4.4 is a 4Ω speaker. Choose the 4Ω version for bridged amplifier configurations, conservative system designs where better amplifier thermal margin is a priority, or when the amplifier already delivers sufficient power at 4Ω. For maximum output from a dedicated 2Ω-rated amplifier at rated stereo output, the CXX4.2 is the matching choice.

The Bottom Line

Pro-series construction in a 4-inch format — 100W RMS, Kevlar cone, N45H neodymium motor, and V8™ 360° tweeter projection with the 4Ω impedance that adds amplifier thermal margin and unlocks bridged configurations. For factory speaker positions on Honda Gold Wing, BMW, and select Indian Motorcycle models.

What's Inside the CXX4.4

The cone is Kevlar — a meaningful specification on a 4-inch driver. In a compact format running at 100W RMS, a stiff Kevlar cone maintains shape at the excursion levels this driver is rated for, reducing distortion where a less controlled cone material would begin to break up. Moisture resistance and dimensional stability across temperature complete the case for Kevlar in a motorcycle application. On the road: clean, detailed output at volume rather than the hardening and loss of clarity that comes from a cone working beyond its limits.

The N45H neodymium motor is sized for the chassis — delivering the magnetic flux density needed to control a 1.2-inch copper voice coil at 100W RMS, with the H-grade temperature rating for sustained thermal stability under load. The 4Ω impedance means the motor operates with less current demand from the amplifier, adding thermal margin across both the driver and the amplifier stage. On the road: consistent output without thermal fatigue across a long riding day, even when the amplifier is working hard across multiple speaker positions.

The tweeter is a 0.75-inch PEI dome loaded by the V8™ Dispersion Guide for 360° tweeter projection. Compact speaker positions rarely place the rider in a direct listening axis — the V8™ horn geometry ensures high-frequency energy distributes across the full listening area, keeping treble consistent regardless of the driver's orientation relative to the rider. On the road: usable treble detail from compact positions that typically deliver very little of it.

The custom-tooled polycarbonate basket is UV-stabilised and thermally resistant. The built-in 6dB crossover protects the tweeter from low-frequency excursion without requiring an external network.

Sensitivity and Frequency Coverage

At 91 dB (1W/1m) and 100W RMS, the CXX4.4 delivers the sensitivity and power capacity a compact position needs to function as part of a full system. The 4Ω impedance means the amplifier runs cooler and with more margin — particularly relevant in a compact driver where the thermal budget on both sides of the signal chain is tighter. In multi-speaker builds where the amplifier is driving several positions simultaneously, the 4Ω impedance on every driver reduces the total current demand on the system.

Frequency response runs 100 Hz – 20 kHz (±3 dB) — the natural operating range for a 4-inch coaxial, covering mid and high frequencies precisely. In a system with a larger driver or subwoofer handling the low end, the CXX4.4 fills its frequency responsibility without compromise.

Why 4Ω — Bridged Amps and Thermal Margin

A 4Ω speaker presents a higher electrical load to the amplifier than a 2Ω speaker — lower current demand, less heat, and more tolerance for voltage drop or imperfect wiring. For compact multi-speaker builds where the amplifier is driving several positions simultaneously, the 4Ω impedance on every driver reduces the total current demand on the system.

For bridged amplifier configurations — where two amplifier channels are combined to drive a speaker pair at higher per-channel output — the 4Ω load satisfies the minimum impedance requirement on most amplifiers including the Cicada FLX500.4 and FLX700.4. For stereo installs at the amp's rated 2Ω output, the CXX4.2 is the matching choice.
