The Pro-series 5.25" fairing upgrade for bridged-amp and conservative builds.

The CXX525.4 is Cicada's Pro-series 5.25" fairing coaxial — the 4Ω variant of the CXX525.2, built for bridged-amp configurations and systems where amplifier thermal margin matters. 100W RMS, 91 dB sensitivity, Kevlar cone, N45H neodymium motor, V8™ Dispersion Guide for 360° tweeter projection, and Rain or Shine™ weatherproof construction. Designed for 1998–2013 Harley-Davidson Touring fairing positions. Sold in pairs.

The CXX525.4 and CXX525.2 share the same Pro-series build — Kevlar cone, N45H motor, V8™ Dispersion Guide, 100W RMS. The 4Ω impedance presents a higher load to the amplifier: lower current demand, less heat, and more tolerance for the wiring realities of a motorcycle install. For bridged-amp front stage builds, or systems where amplifier thermal margin is part of the brief, the CXX525.4 is the right choice.

Who This Speaker Is For

For riders on 1998–2013 Harley-Davidson Touring models running a bridged-amp fairing stage or conservative system design who want the full Pro-series CXX525 build. The 4Ω impedance makes the CXX525.4 compatible with bridged configurations and lowers current demand in standard stereo installs. For maximum output from a dedicated 2Ω-rated amplifier, the CXX525.2 is the 2Ω variant.

What This Is Best For

  • Pre-2014 Harley batwing fairing — Pro upgrade for bridged builds — 5.25" positions on 1998–2013 Street Glide, Electra Glide, Ultra Classic, Ultra Limited, and Tri Glide models. When the front amplifier channels are bridged, the CXX525.4 satisfies the 4Ω minimum load requirement. Bridging two channels halves the impedance the amp sees — a 4Ω speaker bridged presents a 2Ω load, within the safe operating range for most quality amplifiers.
  • A more conservative amplified fairing stage — Pro-series Kevlar cone, N45H motor, and V8™ Dispersion Guide with the 4Ω impedance that lowers amplifier current demand and adds thermal margin. 100W RMS power handling with room to breathe.
  • Uniform 4Ω builds across all positions — pairs with CXX69.4 saddlebag speakers and CXX4.4 for a consistent 4Ω Pro-series build throughout the entire system, simplifying amplifier matching.
  • Upgrading from OEM or Stage 1 speakers on older Touring models — same 5.25" fitment, Pro-series build with the 4Ω impedance that works with the widest range of Harley OEM and aftermarket amplifiers.

4Ω vs 2Ω — Choosing the Right Version

The CXX525.4 is a 4Ω speaker — the correct choice for bridged-amp configurations, where bridging two amplifier channels halves the impedance the amp sees. A 4Ω speaker bridged presents a 2Ω load — within safe operating range for the FLX500.4, FLX700.4, and most quality amplifiers. A 4Ω load also gives the amplifier more thermal margin in stereo configurations. For maximum output from a 2Ω-stable amplifier running stereo, the CXX525.2 (2Ω) delivers more power from the same hardware.

The Bottom Line

Pro-series 5.25" fairing coaxial for 1998–2013 Harley-Davidson Touring models — 100W RMS, Kevlar cone, N45H neodymium motor, V8™ 360° tweeter projection, Rain or Shine™ weatherproof, with the 4Ω impedance that adds amplifier thermal margin and unlocks bridged configurations. Grills and mounting hardware included.

Ready to upgrade your fairing stage? Add to cart above. For non-bridged amplified builds or maximum output from a 2Ω-rated amplifier, the CXX525.2 is the 2Ω variant.

What's Inside the CXX525.4

The cone is Kevlar — the woven aramid fibre chosen for its low mass, high stiffness, and moisture resistance. In a 5.25" driver operating in a pre-2014 Harley batwing fairing, dimensional stability across the temperature range of a motorcycle environment matters. A Kevlar cone maintains shape at higher excursion levels, producing less distortion as output increases. On the road: the music stays clean at volume, not just at low level — particularly noticeable in the midrange where less stiff cones begin to break up at amplified output.

The N45H neodymium motor is a step up from the N35 used in the standard CX range — the same physical motor size producing a stronger magnetic field, with more flux density in the gap and better voice coil control at high excursion. The voice coil is 1.4-inch copper wound. The H-grade temperature rating ensures the magnet holds its strength under sustained thermal load. The 4Ω impedance also means the motor draws less current from the amplifier than the CXX525.2, adding thermal margin across both the driver and the amplifier stage. On the road: consistent, controlled output at volume without the fatigue that comes from an amplifier running at its thermal limits.

The tweeter is a 1.0-inch PEI dome loaded by the V8™ Dispersion Guide for 360° tweeter projection. From the batwing fairing position, the tweeter is not always pointing directly at the rider. The V8™ horn geometry spreads high-frequency energy more evenly across the full listening area, keeping treble presence consistent regardless of head position. On the road: consistent treble coverage with no dead spots and no narrow sweet spot that disappears at speed.

The custom-tooled polycarbonate basket is UV-stabilised and thermally resistant. The built-in 6dB crossover is integrated into the assembly, protecting the tweeter from low-frequency energy without requiring an external crossover unit.

Sensitivity and Frequency Coverage

At 91 dB (1W/1m) and 100W RMS, the CXX525.4 delivers the sensitivity and power capacity a fairing position needs to be heard at highway speed. The 4Ω impedance means the amplifier runs cooler and with more current headroom — in sustained high-output riding conditions, that margin keeps the system performing across a full day without thermal rolloff.

Frequency response runs 50 Hz – 20 kHz (±3 dB). The 5.25-inch format gives meaningful mid-bass extension from the fairing position. In builds also running rear saddlebag speakers, the fairing stage handles the upper frequencies while the rear stage reinforces the low end.

Why 4Ω — Bridged Amps and Thermal Margin

When an amplifier runs in bridged mode, it combines two channels to drive a single speaker pair with more power. The trade-off is that bridging halves the impedance the amplifier sees — a 4Ω speaker on a bridged channel presents a 2Ω load to the amplifier. Most quality amplifiers including the Cicada FLX500.4 and FLX700.4 are stable at 2Ω in bridged mode. Running a 2Ω speaker in a bridged configuration would present a 1Ω load — below what most amplifiers can reliably handle. The CXX525.4 is the correct fairing speaker for any bridged-amp front stage on a pre-2014 Harley.

At 4Ω in a standard stereo configuration, the CXX525.4 also gives the amplifier more thermal headroom. Less current demand, less heat, and more margin for sustained output in hot conditions. For maximum output from a dedicated 2Ω-stable amplifier running stereo, the CXX525.2 is the higher-output option.
