500W 4-channel front-stage system for 2014–2023 Harley Touring — FLX500.4 amplifier, CX65.2 speakers, model-specific fit
The Cicada Audio 14FLXCX-4X2 is a complete, plug-and-play front-stage audio upgrade for 2014–2023 Harley-Davidson® Touring models. Built around the FLX500.4 4-channel Class-D amplifier and a matched pair of 2Ω CX65.2 coaxial speakers, it delivers a genuine increase in volume, clarity, and control from the fairing speaker positions. Select your model variant — Road Glide or Street Glide — and the kit ships with the correct model-specific amplifier rack and Cicada Audio branded grilles for your fairing platform.
This is a front-stage focused system — two 6.5″ fairing speakers with a 4-channel amplifier that has spare channels ready for saddlebag lid speakers when you're ready to expand. For the complete front-and-rear 4-speaker system, see the 14FLXCX-4X4.
Who This Is For
Riders on 2014–2023 Harley-Davidson® Touring platforms who want to start with a proper amplified front stage — without buying more system than they need on day one. The 14FLXCX-4X2 is the correct choice when the fairing speakers are the priority and rear lids are a future upgrade. Every component is pre-matched and model-specific — select Road Glide or Street Glide at checkout and the correct rack and grilles are included. For a full front-and-rear system from the start, see the 14FLXCX-4X4.
What This Is Best For
- Complete plug-and-play front-stage install — every required component is in the box: amplifier, speakers, power wiring, Harley-specific Molex® input and output harnesses, model-specific amplifier rack, and branded fairing grilles. No sourcing individual parts, no compatibility research, no guesswork on installation day.
- 2Ω impedance matched to the FLX500.4 — the CX65.2 speakers are 2Ω, matched specifically to extract maximum real-world output from the FLX500.4. At 125W RMS per channel into 2Ω, the system delivers significantly more usable volume than running speakers off head unit power, and does so without impedance compromise.
- 4-channel amp with room to grow — the FLX500.4 is a full 4-channel amplifier. With two channels driving the front CX65.2 speakers, channels 3 and 4 are available to add saddlebag lid speakers later without changing amps or re-running power wiring. Expand when you're ready; the infrastructure is already in place.
- 8 AWG wiring — works with stock electrical — the included HDPG8K 8 AWG power and ground kit is correctly sized for the FLX500.4's current draw and works with the factory Harley charging system. No battery upgrade required for this system configuration.
- Model-specific mounting hardware — the Road Glide variant includes the 14HDAR-RG amplifier rack and CHDRGG branded kidney grilles. The Street Glide variant includes the 14HDAR-SG rack and CHDSGG branded batwing grilles. Select your model at checkout — the correct hardware for your fairing ships automatically.
Road Glide or Street Glide?
The amplifier, speakers, wiring, and harnesses are identical in both variants. What differs is the model-specific mounting hardware. The Road Glide variant includes the 14HDAR-RG amplifier rack and CHDRGG kidney grilles. The Street Glide variant includes the 14HDAR-SG amplifier rack and CHDSGG batwing grilles. Select the correct variant for your fairing platform before adding to cart. If you're unsure which model you have, the Road Glide has a shark-nose fairing; the Street Glide has a batwing fairing.
This System Requires a Radio Flash
Before installing any amplified audio upgrade on a 2014–2023 Harley-Davidson® Touring model, the factory Infotainment radio needs to be flashed. The stock firmware applies heavy EQ curves, dynamic compression, and output limiting tuned around the factory speaker system — these remain active after the amplifier is installed and will undercut everything this system does. Without the flash: bass collapses at volume, midrange becomes congested, highs turn brittle, and the FLX500.4 runs out of usable headroom well before its rated output. With the flash, the EQ and limiters are removed and the amplifier can do its job properly. A radio flash takes approximately 30 minutes and costs roughly $150–$300 AUD depending on provider. TechnoResearch is the most widely used option; any authorised Harley-Davidson® dealer with Screamin' Eagle® Flash tooling can also perform the service. The flash is required — not optional.
The Bottom Line
A complete, model-specific front-stage system — FLX500.4 amplifier, CX65.2 2Ω speakers, 8 AWG wiring, Molex® harnesses, amplifier rack, and branded grilles — everything required for a clean fairing installation in one box. Select Road Glide or Street Glide above and add to cart. For the full front-and-rear 4-speaker system, see the 14FLXCX-4X4.

The FLX500.4 Amplifier
The FLX500.4 is the entry-level amplifier in the Cicada FLX range — a full 4-channel Class-D unit designed for Harley-Davidson® Touring fairing installations. At 125W RMS per channel into 2Ω, it delivers clean, stable power well above what any factory head unit can produce, and does so without requiring a battery upgrade or 4 AWG power wiring. On the road: the FLX500.4 drives the CX65.2 speakers with genuine headroom — at highway speed with wind and exhaust noise, you're turning the volume up to 60–70% rather than maxing it out trying to cut through. The difference is audible immediately.
With four amplified channels and two connected to the front CX65.2 speakers, channels 3 and 4 are available to drive saddlebag lid speakers later — without replacing the amplifier or re-running the power supply wiring. For the full front-and-rear system, see the 14FLXCX-4X4.
The CX65.2 Speakers
The CX65.2 is the 2Ω variant of Cicada Audio's CX65 6.5″ coaxial speaker — the correct impedance pairing for the FLX500.4 at its rated output. The CX series uses an IMPP cone and a balanced tweeter design focused on vocal clarity and fatigue-free listening at sustained volume rather than sensitivity-first engineering. On the road: the CX65.2 delivers clean vocals and mid-range presence from the fairing position — the frequencies that carry the most musical information remain intelligible at highway speed, where mud and compression from head unit power start to show.
For the 4Ω variant paired with bridged-amp applications, see the CX65.4.
Why 8 AWG Wiring
The HDPG8K 8 AWG power and ground kit is correctly matched to the FLX500.4's current draw profile. A 500W Class-D amplifier at music-level signal demand draws well within 8 AWG capacity, and the kit includes a correctly rated in-line fuse for the power feed run. Running 4 AWG wiring on a system that doesn't require it adds cost and installation complexity without benefit. On the road: no voltage drop, no thermal stress on the wiring, no need to return to the install to address an undersized supply. The HDPG8K is sized for this system and does the job cleanly.
Radio Flash — Required Before Installation
The 2014–2023 Harley-Davidson® Infotainment radio ships from the factory with firmware tuned around the stock speaker system. That firmware applies significant EQ curves to compensate for the limitations of factory speakers, dynamic compression to manage volume levels, bass roll-off as volume climbs, and output limiting that caps usable signal before the amplifier can act on it properly. None of this is removed when you add an amplifier — the processed, limited signal goes into the FLX500.4's input exactly as it came out of the head unit.
The result without a flash: the FLX500.4 amplifies a signal that has already been compressed, EQ-adjusted, and capped. Bass collapses at highway volume, midrange sounds congested, and the system runs out of headroom well before the amplifier's rated output. On the road: the performance gap between a flashed and unflashed Harley radio on this install is not subtle — it is the difference between the system working and the system not working.
With a flash, the EQ curves, compression, and limiters are removed. The radio sends a clean, unprocessed signal to the amplifier, and the FLX500.4 operates on signal it can actually work with. A radio flash takes approximately 30 minutes and costs around $150–$300 AUD depending on provider. TechnoResearch is the most widely used flash service for this application; any authorised Harley-Davidson® dealer with Screamin' Eagle® Flash tooling can also perform the service. Book the flash before or on the same day as installation.
