The 6.5" fairing upgrade built for bridged-amp and conservative systems.
The CX65.4 is Cicada's 6.5" fairing coaxial — the 4Ω variant of the CX65.2, built for bridged-amp configurations and systems where amplifier thermal margin matters. 100W RMS, 94 dB sensitivity, IMPP cone, Black Coat™ voice coil, DPSH® Dual-Phase Slot Horn tweeter, Rain or Shine™ weatherproof. Grills and mounting hardware included. Sold in pairs.
Same acoustic build as the CX65.2. Same IMPP cone, Black Coat™ voice coil, DPSH® tweeter, and polymer frame. The 4Ω impedance is what changes — and it changes which amplifier configurations this speaker belongs in.
Who This Speaker Is For
Built for riders running a bridged-amp configuration — where the amplifier bridges two channels and requires a higher-impedance load to operate safely — or anyone building a more conservative system with better amplifier thermal margin. Also runs directly from a Boom! Box GTS as a plug-in upgrade. For non-bridged amplified builds where maximum output from a 2Ω-rated amplifier is the goal, the CX65.2 is the 2Ω variant.
What This Is Best For
- Bridged-amp fairing stage — running the amplifier in bridged mode drops the load the amp sees by half. A 4Ω speaker on a bridged channel presents a 2Ω load — what most quality amplifiers are rated for at their bridged minimum. Running a 2Ω speaker bridged presents a 1Ω load, below safe operating limits for most amps. The CX65.4 is the correct fairing speaker for any bridged configuration.
- A more conservative amplified build — 4Ω gives the amplifier more headroom, less heat, and better thermal margin under sustained load. For long days in hot conditions, the CX65.4 is the safer amplifier choice at the same acoustic result.
- A GTS plug-in upgrade that's amplifier-ready — runs from stock Boom! Box GTS power today, ready for a dedicated amplifier — including bridged configurations — when the build progresses.
- Full four-speaker Touring builds — pairing the CX65.4 in the fairing with the CX69.4 in the saddlebags gives a consistent 4Ω front and rear stage, compatible with a single four-channel amplifier running stereo or bridged on either stage. Step up to the CXX65.4 for the Pro-series build with Kevlar cone and N45H motor.
4Ω vs 2Ω — Choosing the Right Version
The CX65.4 is a 4Ω speaker — the correct choice for bridged-amp configurations, where the amplifier bridges two channels and needs a higher-impedance load to operate safely. A 4Ω load also asks less from the amplifier in terms of current and heat, giving more thermal margin for sustained operation. For maximum output from a dedicated 2Ω-stable amplifier running in stereo, the CX65.2 (2Ω) delivers more power from the same hardware. If you're not running a bridged configuration and your amplifier is 2Ω stable, the CX65.2 is the higher-output option.
The Bottom Line
A properly engineered 6.5" fairing coaxial for bridged-amp and conservative amplified builds — 94 dB sensitivity, 100W RMS, IMPP cone, Black Coat™ voice coil, DPSH® tweeter, weatherproof construction, in the same low-profile chassis that fits any 2014+ Harley-Davidson factory 6.5" fairing location. Runs from a Boom! Box GTS straight out of the box. Grills and mounting hardware included.
Ready to upgrade your fairing stage? Add to cart above. For non-bridged amplified builds or maximum output from a 2Ω-rated amplifier, the CX65.2 is the 2Ω variant.
What's Inside the CX65.4
The cone is IMPP (Injected Moulded Polypropylene) — moisture-resistant, dimensionally stable across a wide temperature range, and stiff enough to maintain linear excursion at higher output levels. The NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber) surround holds its compliance through cold morning starts and sustained summer heat — unlike foam surrounds, which degrade in outdoor conditions. On the road: the speaker handles a closed fairing in Australian summer heat or a cold morning start without the compliance changes that degrade performance over time.
The 1.4-inch Black Coat™ voice coil carries Cicada's proprietary high-temperature treatment on the former and windings. In an enclosed fairing under sustained load, voice coil temperature is one of the primary failure points for speakers not built for motorcycle audio. The Shortening Ring motor design reduces inductance at high frequencies, keeping distortion low at the top of the mid-bass range and improving the handoff to the tweeter. On the road: cleaner output at volume — the driver handles the upper midrange without the breakdown in control that precedes tweeter overload.
The tweeter is a 1.0-inch PEI dome — chosen for thermal stability and resistance to UV and moisture — loaded by Cicada's DPSH® (Dual-Phase Slot Horn). The DPSH® horn geometry shapes tweeter dispersion for wide coverage. At highway speed, the rider's head position relative to the fairing changes constantly — the DPSH® maintains usable high-frequency energy across a wide listening window rather than a narrow beam that disappears off-axis. On the road: consistent treble coverage whether you're sitting upright at lights or leaning through a corner at speed.
The built-in 6dB crossover protects the tweeter from low-frequency energy without requiring an external crossover unit. The Heavy Duty Injected High Temp Polymer frame and N35 Neodymium motor keep the assembly light and rigid across the operating temperature range.
Sensitivity and Frequency Coverage
At 94 dB (1W/1m), the CX65.4 is meaningfully more efficient than most coaxials in this size class. In a motorcycle system where amplifier output is constrained by the charging system, sensitivity is one of the most valuable specifications a speaker can carry — every additional dB of efficiency is headroom you don't need to generate with more amplifier power.
Frequency response runs 54 Hz – 20 kHz (±5 dB), covering full-range coaxial coverage suited to the fairing position. The 54 Hz lower limit gives genuine bass extension for a 6.5-inch driver. For builds also running a rear stage, the CX65.4 pairs cleanly as the front stage, with the CX69.4 covering the lower frequencies from the saddlebags.
Why 4Ω — Bridged Amps and Thermal Margin
When an amplifier runs in bridged mode, it combines two channels to drive a single speaker pair with more power. The trade-off is that bridging halves the impedance the amplifier sees — a 4Ω speaker on a bridged channel presents a 2Ω load to the amplifier. Most quality amplifiers including the Cicada FLX500.4 and FLX700.4 are stable at 2Ω in bridged mode. Running a 2Ω speaker bridged would present a 1Ω load — below safe operating limits for most amplifiers. The CX65.4 is the correct fairing speaker for any bridged-amp setup.
At 4Ω in a standard stereo configuration, the CX65.4 also gives the amplifier more thermal headroom — less current demand, less heat, more margin for sustained operation. For long-distance touring in summer heat, 4Ω is the more conservative choice. For maximum output from a 2Ω-stable amplifier running stereo, the CX65.2 is the higher-output option.
