Horn-loaded projection through highway noise — all-weather 6.5" 2Ω coaxial for motorcycle fairing positions

The Precision Power HTW.652 is a 6.5" 2Ω horn-loaded coaxial speaker for motorcycle fairing, lower fairing pod, and aftermarket 6.5" enclosure positions on Harley-Davidson® and Indian® Touring models. A horn-loaded titanium tweeter delivers directional high-frequency output with more forward throw than a conventional dome can achieve in the same mounting space — keeping vocals and instrument detail audible through wind and road noise at speed. A polypropylene cone with Santoprene surround and ABS/fibreglass basket are built for all-weather riding under Precision Power's Rain or Shine™ design standard.

At highway speed, the dominant challenge for a fairing-mounted speaker is projection — getting high-frequency output from a fixed position through wind and road noise to the rider. A standard dome tweeter radiates in a wide, diffuse pattern; at speed, a significant portion of that energy is lost to the sides and behind the rider before it reaches the listening position. A horn-loaded tweeter solves this differently: the horn geometry focuses the tweeter's output forward, increasing the intensity of what reaches the rider while concentrating the beam at the listening angle. The HTW.652 brings this advantage to standard 6.5" motorcycle fairing positions without fabrication or enclosure modification.

Who This Is For

Riders upgrading 6.5" fairing or lower fairing pod positions on Harley-Davidson® Touring or Indian® Touring models who want better high-frequency clarity and projection at highway speed. The HTW.652 is compatible with factory radio power and compact motorcycle amplifiers. For matched rear-stage output, pair with the HTW.692 (2Ω) saddlebag speaker. For a 4Ω front stage, see the HTW.654. For maximum-output horn-loaded performance in an amplified build, see the MAS.652HT.

What This Is Best For

  • Horn-loaded high-frequency projection at speed — The horn geometry focuses titanium tweeter output forward with more directional intensity than an open dome. The difference is audible at highway speed, where vocal and instrument detail that a dome tweeter loses to the sides and road noise reaches the rider more clearly.
  • All-weather construction — The Santoprene surround maintains its elasticity across the temperature swings and moisture exposure of open-air riding, resisting the degradation that affects foam and rubber surrounds over time. The ABS/fibreglass basket handles UV exposure and sustained vibration without cracking or distorting.
  • 2Ω impedance for more output — The 2Ω load draws more current from factory Boom!™ Box head units and compact motorcycle amplifiers, delivering more usable volume from the same power source. For amplified builds, confirm your amplifier is rated as 2Ω-stable before pairing.
  • Universal 6.5" motorcycle speaker fit — Suits Harley-Davidson® 2014+ front and lower fairing positions, Indian® Touring fairing locations, and aftermarket 6.5" motorcycle speaker enclosures. Mounting adapter requirements vary by position — confirm before installation.
Before You Order — Compatibility Notes

Mounting adapters may be required. The HTW.652 is a universal 6.5" coaxial — not a drop-in replacement kit for any specific model. Harley-Davidson® 2014+ fairing and lower fairing pods use a specific mounting pattern; confirm adapter requirements for your position before ordering.

4Ω variant available. If your amplifier is optimised for 4Ω loads, the HTW.654 is the matching 4Ω speaker. Check your amplifier's minimum impedance rating before selecting a variant.

For maximum-output amplified builds, the MAS.652HT offers a ring radiator horn construction, 150W RMS handling, and bi-amp capability for premium front-stage builds.

The Bottom Line

The HTW.652 brings horn-loaded high-frequency projection and genuine all-weather durability to standard 6.5" motorcycle speaker positions. Better forward throw at speed, Santoprene construction for real-world riding conditions, and 2Ω impedance for more output from factory or aftermarket sources — in a speaker that fits the position you already have.

For 4Ω systems, see the HTW.654. For a matched rear stage, see the HTW.692 (2Ω) or HTW.694 (4Ω). For the Atom Mini amplifier, see the MAA4.400.

TAB 2 — TECHNICAL DETAIL --------------------------

What's Inside

Horn-loaded titanium tweeter. The HTW.652 uses a titanium tweeter mounted within a horn waveguide that focuses high-frequency output forward into a controlled beam rather than allowing it to radiate in all directions. The horn geometry amplifies the tweeter's output in the forward direction, increasing the intensity that reaches the rider at a given listening distance — a meaningful difference in the open-air, high-noise-floor environment of motorcycle riding at speed. Titanium provides the stiffness-to-mass ratio required for extended high-frequency response without the colouration of softer dome materials.

Polypropylene cone with Santoprene surround. A polypropylene woofer cone handles midrange and upper bass. The cone is co-moulded with a Santoprene surround — a thermoplastic rubber that maintains its elasticity across the temperature swings and moisture exposure of open-air riding. Santoprene resists the combination of UV exposure, heat cycling, and road spray that causes foam surrounds to crack and separate, and rubber surrounds to harden over the long service life of a motorcycle speaker installation.

High-output neodymium motor. A neodymium magnet motor provides a high force factor relative to its physical dimensions — keeping mounting depth within the constraints of standard fairing and lower fairing pod positions while delivering the efficiency that supports the HTW.652's 92 dB sensitivity.

ABS/fibreglass basket. The speaker basket is constructed from glass fibre reinforced ABS — dimensionally stable under the vibration loads of motorcycle use, UV-resistant, and unaffected by the rust and corrosion that degrades steel-frame speakers in weathered applications. No grilles are included; the fairing housing or aftermarket enclosure provides the finished appearance.

Integrated high-pass crossover. An internal crossover network manages frequency distribution between the woofer and horn-loaded tweeter, protecting the tweeter from low-frequency excursion and maintaining tonal balance across the operating range.

Sensitivity and Frequency Coverage

At 92 dB (1W/1m), the HTW.652 delivers strong output from modest amplifier power — relevant in multi-speaker front-stage configurations where a single amplifier channel may drive both upper and lower fairing speakers. The 80 Hz – 20 kHz frequency response covers the full range of a fairing speaker in a typical system where a subwoofer or high-pass filter handles low frequencies at the amplifier. A high-pass crossover above 80 Hz at the amplifier is recommended to protect the woofer from excessive low-frequency excursion.

Why 2Ω

A 2Ω speaker draws more current from the source amplifier than a 4Ω speaker at the same volume setting — which translates to more usable output from factory Boom!™ Box head units and compact motorcycle amplifiers. For amplified systems where long-term amplifier stability at 2Ω matters, confirm your amplifier is rated as 2Ω-stable before pairing with the HTW.652. For systems where 4Ω stability is preferred, the HTW.654 is the matching 4Ω variant.
