The best 6.5" fairing coaxial for bridged-amp builds.

The CXX65.4 is Cicada's Pro-series 6.5" fairing coaxial — the 4Ω variant of the CXX65.2, built for bridged-amp configurations and systems where amplifier thermal margin matters. Kevlar cone, N45H neodymium motor, V8™ Dispersion Guide, 100W RMS, Rain or Shine™ weatherproof. Grills and mounting hardware included. Sold in pairs.

The CXX65.4 shares every major component with the CXX65.2 — Kevlar cone, N45H motor, V8™ Dispersion Guide, polycarbonate basket — at 4Ω nominal impedance. Same fitment, same build quality, same fairing position. The impedance difference is what determines which version belongs in your system.

Who This Speaker Is For

Built for riders running a bridged-amp configuration — where the amplifier bridges two channels into one and requires a higher-impedance load — or anyone building a more conservative system with better amplifier thermal margin. Also runs directly from a Boom! Box GTS as a plug-in upgrade. For maximum output from a dedicated FLX500.4 or FLX700.4 running in stereo at 2Ω, the CXX65.2 is the 2Ω variant.

What This Is Best For

  • Bridged-amp fairing stage — when running the amplifier in bridged mode, a 4Ω speaker is the correct load. Running a 2Ω speaker into a bridged channel drops the load to 1Ω, below what most amplifiers can safely handle. The CXX65.4 is built for this configuration.
  • A more conservative amplified build — 4Ω gives the amplifier more headroom, less heat, and better thermal margin under sustained load. For long days in hot conditions, the CXX65.4 is the more conservative choice.
  • A GTS plug-in upgrade that's amplifier-ready — runs from stock power today, built for dedicated amplified operation when the build progresses to a bridged or 4Ω-rated stage.
  • Upgrading from the CX65.4 — same fitment, same impedance, next level of build. Direct swap. The Kevlar cone, N45H motor, and V8™ Dispersion Guide are the difference you'll hear.

4Ω vs 2Ω — Choosing the Right Version

The CXX65.4 is a 4Ω speaker — the correct choice for bridged-amp configurations, where the amplifier bridges two channels and needs a higher-impedance load to operate safely. A 4Ω load also asks less from the amplifier in terms of current and heat, giving more thermal margin in systems where sustained output is a priority. For maximum output from a dedicated 2Ω-rated amplifier running in stereo — such as the FLX500.4 or FLX700.4 — the CXX65.2 (2Ω) delivers more power from the same hardware. If you're not running a bridged configuration and your amplifier is 2Ω stable, the CXX65.2 is the higher-output option.

The Bottom Line

Pro-series 6.5" coaxial for bridged-amp builds and conservative amplified systems — Kevlar cone, N45H neodymium motor, V8™ 360° tweeter projection, 100W RMS, Rain or Shine™ weatherproof, in the same low-profile chassis that fits any 2014+ Harley-Davidson factory 6.5" speaker location. Runs from a Boom! Box GTS straight out of the box. Grills and mounting hardware included.

Ready to upgrade your fairing stage? Add to cart above. For non-bridged amplified builds or maximum output from a 2Ω-rated amplifier, the CXX65.2 is the 2Ω variant.

What's Inside the CXX65.4

The cone is Kevlar — the woven aramid fibre used in aerospace and performance audio for its combination of low mass, high stiffness, and moisture resistance. Kevlar is lighter and stiffer than IMPP or polypropylene, which means it moves more precisely and distorts less as output climbs. It is also dimensionally stable across a wide temperature range — important for a speaker that may sit in a closed fairing in Australian summer heat before being called on to perform at full output. On the road: the music stays clean at volume, not just at low level.

The N45H neodymium motor is a step up from the N35 used in the CX65 range. The same physical motor size produces a stronger magnetic field — more flux density in the gap, better voice coil control at high excursion, and the H-temperature grade ensures the magnet holds its strength under sustained thermal load. The voice coil is copper wound, chosen for conductivity and thermal handling under extended drive. On the road: tighter, more controlled output at high volume and consistent performance across a full day of riding.

The tweeter is a 1.0-inch PEI dome loaded by the V8™ Dispersion Guide — Cicada's 360° tweeter projection system. Where the DPSH® in the CX range delivers wide horizontal dispersion, the V8™ is the higher-level system, engineered to spread high-frequency energy more evenly across the full listening area than a conventional directional horn. On the road: consistent treble coverage as your head moves — no dead spots, no narrow sweet spot that disappears at speed.

The custom-tooled polycarbonate basket is UV-stabilised and thermally resistant, maintaining driver alignment under the vibration and heat conditions of a motorcycle at speed. The built-in 6dB crossover is integrated into the assembly, protecting the tweeter from low-frequency energy without requiring an external crossover unit.

Sensitivity and Frequency Coverage

At 93 dB (1W/1m), the CXX65.4 is a high-sensitivity driver for a 6.5-inch coaxial. The 1 dB difference from the CX65's 94 dB figure reflects the Kevlar cone's efficiency profile — Kevlar is stiffer and heavier than IMPP, which affects nominal sensitivity, but the return is more controlled behaviour at high output and better performance under sustained load. In a fairing position driven by a proper amplifier, that difference is not audible.

Frequency response runs 55 Hz – 20 kHz (±3 dB) — a tighter tolerance than the CX65's ±5 dB specification, meaning more consistent output across the frequency range. The 55 Hz lower limit gives genuine bass extension for a 6.5-inch driver. In a build running saddlebag speakers alongside, the fairing stage covers the upper frequencies while the rear stage handles the low end.

Why 4Ω — Bridged Amps and Thermal Margin

When an amplifier runs in bridged mode, it combines two channels to drive a single speaker pair with significantly more power. The trade-off is that bridging halves the impedance the amplifier sees — a 4Ω speaker on a bridged channel presents a 2Ω load to the amplifier. Most quality amplifiers including the Cicada FLX500.4 and FLX700.4 are stable at 2Ω in bridged mode. Running a 2Ω speaker in a bridged configuration would present a 1Ω load — below what most amplifiers can reliably handle. The CXX65.4 at 4Ω is the correct speaker for any bridged-amp setup.

At 4Ω in a standard stereo configuration, the CXX65.4 also gives the amplifier more thermal headroom. A 4Ω load asks less current from the amplifier than a 2Ω load — less heat, less stress, and more margin for sustained operation in hot conditions. For long-distance touring in summer heat, or any build where amplifier reliability under load is a priority, 4Ω is the more conservative choice. For maximum output from a dedicated 2Ω-stable amplifier running stereo, the CXX65.2 is the higher-output option.
