iDataLink® Maestro® RR – the required Harley-Davidson® integration module for the SoundStream Reserve V2

The iDataLink Maestro RR connects an aftermarket head unit to your Harley's CAN bus. Fitted with a SoundStream Reserve V2 (HDHU.V2), it keeps the factory handlebar controls working, puts up to 10 live gauges on screen from more than 50 vehicle parameters, and activates supported factory Boom!™ amplifiers. It suits 2014–2023 Harley-Davidson Touring models, plus selected 2024–2025 models, and MAA programs it for your bike before it ships. A Maestro RR or RR2 is required with every Reserve V2 we supply.

Important Compatibility Information

An iDataLink Maestro RR or RR2 is required with every SoundStream Reserve V2 (HDHU.V2) supplied by Motorcycle Audio Australia.

For the SoundStream WHD14+, Maestro integration is provided through the WHD.UNLOC kit, which includes a Maestro RR2 and the required integration hardware and firmware activation. Don't buy this module on its own for a WHD14+. The WHD.UNLOC is required when retaining supported factory Boom!™ amplification, and optional on compatible non-amplified motorcycles for additional integration features.

The correct Maestro configuration depends on the head unit and motorcycle. Contact us if you're unsure which setup you need.

The RR and the Maestro RR2 perform the same integration functions on the Reserve V2: gauges, handlebar controls, programmable button functions and factory amplifier activation. The RR2 adds Bluetooth® setup and updates from a phone, plus programmable accessory outputs and a radar-detector port. The RR is configured and updated by plugging it into a computer. Because we program the module before it leaves us, most riders never need to update it themselves, which is why the RR is the choice for most installs.

Who This Is For

Riders fitting a SoundStream Reserve V2 to a Harley Touring bike who want the head unit to behave like a factory radio: thumb controls, engine data and factory amplifiers included. A Maestro module is required with the Reserve V2: without one there are no handlebar controls, no gauges and no factory amplifier activation, and nobody wants to buy a new head unit and lose the thumb controls. That's why every Reserve V2 we supply goes out with an RR or RR2. Choose the Maestro RR2 instead if you'd like to adjust button functions or install firmware updates from your phone without removing the fairing. WHD14+ owners should see the WHD.UNLOC kit instead.

What This Is Best For

  • Keeping the factory thumb controls – volume, track, source and menu stay on the bars. Each button can be assigned a function, plus a second "press and hold" function, which doubles what the controls can do.
  • Live engine data on the head unit – up to 10 gauges at once from 50+ parameters, such as oil pressure, engine temperature, battery voltage and fuel level, depending on what your bike reports, with pop-up alerts for critical readings.
  • Factory amplifier activation – switches on supported Boom!™ Stage 1, Stage 2 and Harley Premium Audio amplifiers, so an existing amplified system stays in use.
  • A plug-and-play install – MAA flashes the RR with your bike and head unit profile before dispatch, so it's ready to connect.

Maestro RR or RR2?

On the Reserve V2, both give the same gauges, handlebar controls and factory amplifier activation. Choose the RR if you're happy for us to program it and don't expect to change settings yourself; any later change is made by connecting it to a computer. Choose the Maestro RR2 if you want to configure it and install updates from your phone over Bluetooth®, or you want its programmable accessory outputs.

Fitment

Maestro fitment follows the head unit it's paired with.

Models Head Units Years
Street Glide®, Road Glide®, Electra Glide®, Ultra Limited, Ultra Classic® and CVO™ Touring models SoundStream Reserve V2 and other iDataLink®-compatible head units (WHD14+: use the WHD.UNLOC kit) 2014–2023
Selected later models, including Road Glide® Limited, Ultra Limited, Tri Glide® and Road Glide® 3 As above, where the head unit supports the model 2024–2025

What the Module Does

The Maestro RR sits between the head unit and the Harley's CAN bus, translating vehicle data so the radio and the bike understand each other. That's what brings the thumb controls, gauge data and factory amplifier control across to an aftermarket head unit. In practice: the new radio works with the bike instead of sitting beside it as a separate box.

Programming and Updates

The RR is flashed with your vehicle and head unit profile over a USB connection to a computer, through iDataLink's Maestro web tool. MAA does this before shipping. If you change head units later or want to remap buttons, the module is reconnected to a computer to reflash it.

Mounting

The module is not waterproof. Mount it inside the fairing, in a dry, protected position away from water entry points.
