iDataLink® Maestro® RR2 – the required Harley-Davidson® integration module for the SoundStream Reserve V2, set up and updated from your phone

The iDataLink Maestro RR2 gives a SoundStream Reserve V2 (HDHU.V2) the same CAN bus integration as the Maestro RR: factory handlebar controls, up to 10 live gauges from more than 50 parameters, and supported factory Boom!™ amplifier activation. On top of that, it can be configured and updated over Bluetooth® from an iOS or Android phone, and it adds three programmable accessory outputs and a radar-detector port. It suits 2014–2023 Harley-Davidson Touring models, plus selected 2024–2025 models. A Maestro RR or RR2 is required with every Reserve V2 we supply.

Important Compatibility Information

An iDataLink Maestro RR or RR2 is required with every SoundStream Reserve V2 (HDHU.V2) supplied by Motorcycle Audio Australia.

For the SoundStream WHD14+, Maestro integration is provided through the WHD.UNLOC kit, which includes a Maestro RR2 and the required integration hardware and firmware activation. Don't buy this module on its own for a WHD14+. The WHD.UNLOC is required when retaining supported factory Boom!™ amplification, and optional on compatible non-amplified motorcycles for additional integration features.

The correct Maestro configuration depends on the head unit and motorcycle. Contact us if you're unsure which setup you need.

If you'd rather not pull the fairing and plug a laptop in every time you change a button function or install a firmware update, this is the module to choose. The Maestro RR performs the same integration functions on the Reserve V2 for less, and it's updated by connecting it to a computer.

Who This Is For

Riders fitting a SoundStream Reserve V2 who expect to fine-tune their setup themselves, or who like the idea of installing updates from the phone in their pocket. It's also the module for builds that will use its programmable outputs or radar-detector port. Either an RR2 or an RR is required with the Reserve V2, because without one there are no handlebar controls, gauges or factory amplifier activation. If you want us to program it once and leave it, the Maestro RR gives the same gauges and controls. WHD14+ owners should see the WHD.UNLOC kit, which already includes an RR2.

What This Is Best For

  • Setup and updates without removing the fairing – load your vehicle profile, remap buttons and install firmware from the iDataLink app over Bluetooth®. A USB connection is available too.
  • Everything the RR does – handlebar controls with secondary press-and-hold functions, up to 10 gauges from 50+ parameters with pop-up alerts, and activation of supported Boom!™ Stage 1, Stage 2 and Harley Premium Audio amplifiers.
  • Accessory control – three programmable outputs can drive relay-switched accessories, set to latch, toggle or follow a vehicle signal, with delay-on and delay-off timing. Output control depends on the head unit, so ask us before planning a build around it.
  • Radar-detector integration – a dedicated port connects selected Escort radar detectors (sold separately).

Maestro RR2 or RR?

On the Reserve V2, gauges, handlebar controls and factory amplifier activation are the same on both. The RR2 is worth the extra if you want Bluetooth® setup and updates from your phone, or you'll use the accessory outputs or radar-detector port. If you'd rather we program the module and you never touch it again, the Maestro RR is the better value.

Fitment

Maestro fitment follows the head unit it's paired with.

Models Head Units Years
Street Glide®, Road Glide®, Electra Glide®, Ultra Limited, Ultra Classic® and CVO™ Touring models SoundStream Reserve V2 and other iDataLink®-compatible head units (WHD14+: use the WHD.UNLOC kit) 2014–2023
Selected later models, including Road Glide® Limited, Ultra Limited, Tri Glide® and Road Glide® 3 As above, where the head unit supports the model 2024–2025

What the Module Does

Like the RR, the RR2 sits between the head unit and the Harley's CAN bus, translating vehicle data so the radio can read the bike and the bike can take commands from the radio. That's what carries the thumb controls, gauges and factory amplifier control across to an aftermarket head unit. In practice: the new radio behaves like it came with the bike.

Programming and Updates

The RR2 can be flashed and updated over Bluetooth® from a phone using the iDataLink app, or by USB from a computer. MAA programs it for your bike and head unit before dispatch; after that, any change can be made from your phone. In practice: a button remap or firmware update happens in the garage in minutes, with the fairing left on.

Programmable Outputs and Radar Port

Three outputs can each be set to latch, toggle or follow a vehicle signal (firmware dependent), with adjustable delay-on and delay-off times, and a handlebar button can be assigned to control one of them. A separate port connects selected Escort radar detectors. How these features are controlled depends on the head unit, so check with us for your combination.

Mounting

The module is not waterproof. Mount it inside the fairing, in a dry, protected position away from water entry points.
