250W mid-bass, 107 dB ring radiator horn tweeter. The passive component kit for 2014–2023 H-D factory fairing positions.
The Cicada Audio 14CXK65.2 is a complete 6.5-inch 2Ω passive component speaker kit — 250W RMS mid-bass, 200W RMS ring radiator horn tweeter, Carbon Matrix Composite™ (CMC™) cone, OFC copper shorting ring, Black Coat™ OFC 2.0-inch mid-bass voice coil, 12 dB external passive crossover at 7 kHz, and all-weather Rain or Shine™ construction throughout. Designed for 2014–2023 H-D factory fairing positions. Sold as a complete pair kit.
The 14CXK65.2 is the passive component system for the 2014–2023 H-D factory fairing position — mid-bass, tweeter, and crossover included, no DSP or active crossover required. Where the CM65.2X is the mid-bass driver alone for active DSP builds, the 14CXK65.2 bundles the same CMC™ 6.5-inch mid-bass with a dedicated 107 dB ring radiator horn tweeter and a 12 dB passive crossover at 7 kHz. The crossover handles the signal split from any external amplifier — the mid-bass covers 70 Hz to 7 kHz, the ring radiator horn tweeter handles 7 kHz to 20 kHz. For riders who want the imaging and high-frequency presence of a component stage without committing to a DSP build, this is the direct-fit kit for the factory fairing position.
Who This Speaker Is For
For riders on 2014–2023 Street Glide, Road Glide, and other H-D Touring models who want a component stage — better imaging and tweeter presence than a coaxial — without building an active DSP system. The 14CXK65.2 is the 2Ω version, correct for dedicated 2Ω-rated amplifiers in stereo. For bridged configurations or 4Ω builds, the 14CXK65.4 is the 4Ω variant. For an all-in-one coaxial in the same factory position, the CHX65.2 is the horn coaxial option. For a 2024+ Street Glide, see the 24CXK65.2SG; for 2024+ Road Glide, see the 24CXK65.2RG.
What This Is Best For
- Passive component stage in 2014–2023 H-D factory fairing positions — the mid-bass installs in the factory 5.67-inch fairing cutout; the tweeter mounts separately in the fairing for directed high-frequency projection. One amplifier channel per side drives the complete component system through the passive crossover — no DSP setup, no active crossover configuration.
- Upgrading from a coaxial to a component stage — riders on 2014–2023 Touring models who want better separation between mid-bass and high frequencies, more tweeter presence at the rider position, and the improved imaging that a dedicated high-frequency driver delivers — without committing to a full DSP build.
- High-efficiency front stage — the 107 dB ring radiator horn tweeter is one of the most efficient tweeter formats available in motorcycle audio. At 107 dB, it carries over road and wind noise at the power levels a motorcycle amplifier delivers. The crossover's -3/-6 dB tweeter attenuation compensates for the difference between the tweeter's 107 dB and the mid-bass's 94 dB, letting the system balance the two drivers for the riding environment.
- Complete passive front + rear component system — pairs the 14CXK65.2 front component stage with a CXK69.2 rear component stage for a full passive component system — front and rear — driven from a single 4-channel amplifier.
2Ω vs 4Ω — Choosing the Right Version
The 14CXK65.2 is a 2Ω component kit. The system load is driven by the 2Ω mid-bass driver — choose the 2Ω version when running a dedicated 2Ω-rated amplifier in stereo. The tweeter in this kit is 4Ω but operates on its own crossover branch. For bridged amplifier configurations requiring a 4Ω minimum load, the 14CXK65.4 (4Ω) is the correct choice.
The Bottom Line
250W mid-bass, 107 dB ring radiator horn tweeter, passive crossover at 7 kHz — the complete passive component kit for the 2014–2023 H-D factory fairing position.
Ready to build? Add to cart above. For the 4Ω variant, the 14CXK65.4 is the same kit at 4Ω. For a complete all-in-one horn coaxial in the same position, the CHX65.2 is the coaxial option. For 2024+ models, see the 24CXK65.2SG (Street Glide) or 24CXK65.2RG (Road Glide).
What's Inside the 14CXK65.2
The mid-bass driver uses a Carbon Matrix Composite™ (CMC™) cone — lightweight, rigid, and thermally stable. The 2.0-inch / 51mm Black Coat™ OFC copper voice coil handles sustained 250W RMS. The OFC copper shorting ring in the motor gap reduces inductance modulation distortion and extends upper mid-bass response, contributing to the mid-bass driver's 70 Hz – 20 kHz range. In the component context, the mid-bass covers from 70 Hz up to the 7 kHz crossover point — the full vocal and instrument body range, plus the lower presence frequencies. On the road: defined mid-bass and a full midrange presentation from the factory fairing position, covering everything below the crossover without asking the tweeter to work in a range it wasn't designed for.
The tweeter is a 1.0-inch shallow ring radiator in a horn waveguide — a ring radiator topology (concentric annular rings rather than a solid dome) that delivers a wider dispersion pattern and lower distortion at high frequencies compared to a conventional dome. In the horn waveguide, the 107 dB sensitivity figure reflects the efficiency of horn loading applied to an already efficient ring radiator topology. Tweeter attenuation of -3 or -6 dB compensates for the difference between tweeter and mid-bass sensitivity levels, with the adjustment built into the passive crossover's heat-sink encased resistor. On the road: bright, present high-frequency reproduction that projects at the rider without needing high amplifier output — the combination of horn loading and ring radiator topology does the work.
The external 12 dB passive crossover at 7 kHz is custom-tooled, vented, and encased — one crossover unit per side, driven by a single amplifier channel. The 7 kHz crossover point is set above the mid-bass driver's upper range where it begins to beam and above the tweeter's lower operating limit. The mid-bass handles 70 Hz – 7 kHz; the tweeter handles 7 kHz – 20 kHz. No active DSP configuration or system-level crossover is required for the mid-bass/tweeter split — the passive crossover handles it. A system-level high-pass on the amplifier at 80–120 Hz is still recommended to prevent the mid-bass driver from reproducing sub-bass content it cannot efficiently handle.
Sensitivity and Frequency Coverage
The 14CXK65.2 operates as two drivers with distinct sensitivity figures: the mid-bass at 94 dB (1W/1m) and the tweeter at 107 dB (1W/1m). The 13 dB differential is significant — without the crossover's attenuation adjustment, the tweeter would be dramatically louder than the mid-bass at the same input level. The -3 or -6 dB attenuation setting in the crossover brings the two drivers into balance. Combined system frequency response runs from 70 Hz (mid-bass lower limit) through to 20 kHz (tweeter upper limit), with the passive crossover at 7 kHz managing the transition. The ring radiator horn tweeter's 107 dB efficiency is the defining performance characteristic of this kit on a motorcycle: at the power levels available from a motorcycle amplifier, a 107 dB tweeter carries over ambient noise where a 90–94 dB dome tweeter does not.
Why 2Ω — Amplifier Pairing
At 2Ω, the 14CXK65.2 extracts full rated output from any 2Ω-stable motorcycle amplifier. The FLX1400.4 and FLX2000.4 both publish their rated output at 2Ω stereo — one channel per side drives the complete mid-bass and tweeter through the passive crossover. For DSP amplifiers where you want independent crossover control over the tweeter channel rather than using the passive crossover, the CM65.2X mid-bass driver and a separate tweeter on dedicated DSP channels is the active alternative. For bridged configurations, the 14CXK65.4 satisfies the 4Ω minimum load requirement.
