Level 5 horn coaxial front stage for 2014–2023 Harley Touring — FLX1400.4 driving CHX65.2 in the front fairing

The 14FLXCHX-4X2 is Cicada Audio’s Level 5 front-stage kit for 2014–2023 Harley-Davidson Touring — the highest-specification horn coaxial speaker in the Cicada range paired with the FLX1400.4 amplifier at 350W × 4 at 2Ω. The CHX65.2 6.5″ horn coaxial fits the front fairing positions on Road Glide® and Street Glide® models. All four Molex wiring harnesses are included to pre-wire the rear positions alongside the front install, ready for a future rear-stage expansion without opening the bike again. Variant-specific grilles and the 14HDAR fairing amplifier rack complete the kit.

The CHX65.2 sits at the top of the Cicada Audio coaxial range — one tier above the CH65-series horn coaxials used in the Level 3 kits. It uses the same ring radiator tweeter technology as the separate RR075T found in the Level 4 component systems, integrated into a coaxial format. If you want DSP control over crossover and time alignment in addition to this driver and amplifier pairing, the 14FLXPCH-4X4 uses the FLX700.4PRO DSP with CH65.2C horn coaxials front and rear as a full-stage PRO alternative.

Who This Is For

The 14FLXCHX-4X2 is for the rider who wants the highest-specification coaxial speaker Cicada Audio makes in the front fairing, driven hard by the FLX1400.4 at full 2Ω output — without the additional cost and complexity of a separate tweeter, active crossover, and DSP system. It’s a front-stage build, but with all four Molex harnesses pre-installed, the rear positions are wired and ready whenever a rear stage is added. If you want DSP-controlled active crossover alongside this power level, the active component path starts with the 14FLXPCM-4X4. If a full front-and-rear stage is the goal now, consider the 14FLXPCH-4X4.

What This Is Best For

  • CHX65.2 horn coaxial — Level 5 front fairing speaker — The CHX65.2 uses a horn waveguide to control tweeter dispersion within the coaxial frame, and the ring radiator diaphragm produces a more even polar response than a conventional dome tweeter in a coaxial configuration. At 2Ω impedance, it draws maximum current from each of the FLX1400.4’s output channels. On the road: the horn’s directional control keeps high-frequency content pointed at the rider’s ears rather than scattering into the fairing cavity, maintaining audibility at highway speeds without raising the tweeter level to compensate.
  • FLX1400.4 — 350W × 4 at 2Ω, no DSP — The FLX1400.4 is the same amplifier platform as the FLX1400.4PRO without the DSP processing engine. Where the PRO version adds software-configurable crossover and time alignment, the FLX1400.4 is optimised purely for output — all four channels at 350W into 2Ω loads, Class-D efficiency, compact form factor for the inner fairing. On the road: 1,400W total system power gives the CHX65.2 significant headroom above typical highway ambient noise levels, so you’re not riding at the amplifier’s limit to hear the music.
  • Rear positions pre-wired for future expansion — The HDRIM rear input harness and HDFLXRo rear output harness are included alongside the HDFiM front input and HDFLXFo front output. Routing all four harnesses during the initial install means a future rear speaker addition — whether saddlebag or Tour-Pak — requires connecting the rear speakers to the existing harness rather than re-running wiring through the frame and fairings. The FLX1400.4 already has the four channels available.
  • HDPG4K 4 AWG power and ground kit — The FLX1400.4 at full output draws more current than the 6 AWG kits used in lower-power builds. The HDPG4K provides 4 AWG cable pre-terminated for the 2014–2023 Harley-Davidson Touring charging system, with the correct fusing and ground path for the amplifier’s current draw at 2Ω. On the road: proper cable gauge means voltage drop under hard driving stays low enough that the amplifier’s output regulation isn’t fighting an undersized supply.
  • Matched grilles and 14HDAR amplifier rack — CHDRGG kidney grilles (Road Glide®) or CHDSGG round grilles (Street Glide®) are Cicada Audio-branded direct-fit replacements for the 2014–2023 speaker positions. The 14HDAR-RG or 14HDAR-SG amplifier rack positions the FLX1400.4 inside the inner fairing without custom fabrication.

Level 5 Coaxial vs Level 4 PRO Component — CHX65.2 vs CM65.2X + RR075T

The 14FLXCHX-4X2 uses the CHX65.2 — a horn coaxial with integrated tweeter, no external crossover required and no DSP needed. The 14FLXPCM-4X4 uses separate CM65.2X midbass and RR075T tweeter drivers with the FLX700.4PRO DSP providing active crossover. The active component approach gives more flexibility in crossover tuning and eliminates passive network losses; the CHX65.2 coaxial approach is simpler to install and tune. Both are front-stage front fairing builds. The decision comes down to whether you want integrated simplicity or active separation.

The Bottom Line

The 14FLXCHX-4X2 puts the highest-specification Cicada Audio coaxial speaker in the front fairing positions of a 2014–2023 Road Glide® or Street Glide®, driven by the FLX1400.4 at 350W × 4 at 2Ω — 1,400W of headroom in a front-stage format. All four Molex harnesses are pre-installed for rear expansion, and everything needed for a clean factory-look install is included. Select Road Glide® or Street Glide® above to configure your kit.

What’s Inside the 14FLXCHX-4X2

The front speaker is the CHX65.2 — Cicada Audio’s Level 5 6.5″ horn coaxial. The coaxial format mounts the tweeter concentrically in the woofer frame so both drivers share a single mounting position and a single cutout. The CHX65.2 uses a ring radiator tweeter diaphragm integrated into a horn waveguide — the same tweeter technology as the separate RR075T unit used in the Level 4 active component systems, adapted for coaxial integration. At 2Ω impedance it presents the FLX1400.4 with its rated minimum load for full output from each channel. On the road: the horn’s controlled dispersion means the tweeter’s output remains consistent across the listening angles present in a batwing fairing — useful when the rider’s helmet moves in the fairing recess or a pillion is behind the primary listener.

The amplifier is the FLX1400.4 — the same Class-D 4-channel platform as the PRO version, without the DSP processing engine. It delivers 350W RMS per channel at 2Ω, for 1,400W total system power. The compact form factor mounts inside the inner fairing via the 14HDAR rack without requiring a custom bracket or fairing cutout. On the road: Class-D efficiency means the amplifier generates less heat per watt of output than a conventional AB-class unit — relevant in a sealed fairing environment where there’s limited convective airflow to manage thermal load during sustained driving.

The HDPG4K provides 4 AWG power and ground cabling pre-terminated for the 2014–2023 Harley-Davidson Touring charging system. At 350W × 4 into 2Ω loads the FLX1400.4 draws significantly more current than the FLX700.4-series amplifiers used in lower-level kits — 4 AWG cable provides the conductor cross-section needed to supply that current without voltage drop that limits output or triggers the amplifier’s protection circuits. On the road: correct cable gauge means the amplifier operates as specified at full volume, not at a reduced output level imposed by supply-rail sag.

Why Horn Coaxial at Level 5

The CHX65.2’s horn waveguide does something a conventional soft-dome or titanium-dome tweeter in a coaxial format cannot — it shapes the tweeter’s dispersion pattern rather than letting it radiate hemispherically. In a batwing fairing, a hemispherical tweeter sends high-frequency energy in all directions equally, a significant amount of which hits the fairing wall and reflects back out of phase with the direct signal. The horn constrains that dispersion so more of the tweeter’s output arrives at the rider’s ear as direct sound. The ring radiator diaphragm also produces lower distortion in the upper octaves than a conventional dome, which becomes audible when the amplifier is running at high output levels.
