2-channel line output converter with load resistors for H-D® radios – converts speaker-level output to RCA signal for aftermarket amplifiers.
The Cicada Audio HDLOC2 is a 2-channel line output converter with built-in load resistors for Harley-Davidson factory radios – converts speaker-level audio output to a line-level RCA signal for aftermarket amplifier integration. Load resistors protect the factory radio's output stage. Sold individually.
Adding an aftermarket amplifier while retaining the factory radio requires extracting a usable RCA preamp signal from the radio's speaker-level outputs. The HDLOC2 handles this conversion with built-in load resistors that protect the factory radio from seeing an open circuit at its speaker outputs – a common cause of radio damage when speaker outputs are tapped without correct loading. For a higher-output solution with H-D Molex® connector integration and selectable configuration, see the HDLOC-MAX2.
Who This Is For
Builders adding an aftermarket amplifier to a Harley-Davidson bike with a factory radio who need a 2-channel LOC with load resistors. For a high-output LOC with H-D Molex connectors and selectable turn-on methods, see the HDLOC-MAX2. For a complete T-harness solution for 2014–2023 models, see the HDTSLINKAR.
What This Is Best For
- Speaker-to-line level conversion with load resistors – converts factory radio speaker outputs to RCA line level for aftermarket amplifier inputs; load resistors protect the radio's output stage from open-circuit conditions.
- 2-channel stereo operation – handles left and right channels independently for stereo amplifier input configurations.
- Straightforward LOC integration – the simpler option for builds that don't require selectable load, multiple turn-on methods, or H-D Molex connector integration.
What's Inside the HDLOC2
The converter takes the factory radio's speaker-level outputs on two channels and returns an RCA line-level signal for an aftermarket amplifier's inputs, left and right handled independently. On the road: the factory radio stays in service and the amplifier gets a preamp signal it can work with.
Load resistors are built in, so the radio's output stage sees a load rather than an open circuit where its speaker outputs have been tapped. On the road: tapping speaker outputs without correct loading is a common cause of radio damage, and the resistors are in the box for that reason.
