The high-power 4-channel amplifier for an SPL Harley front stage and pro-audio speakers

The SounDigital EVO PS 2000.4 is a four-channel Class-D amplifier delivering up to 500W RMS per channel, or 1000W RMS per side bridged, from a chassis of 214 x 149 x 62mm (8.4 x 5.8 x 2.4 in). It is the top four-channel amplifier in the EVO PS range, built for aggressive Harley-Davidson Touring builds running high-efficiency pro-audio and horn-loaded speakers. High and low level inputs, locked gain, and full protection circuitry are standard.

The 2000.4 is the most powerful four-channel amplifier in the EVO PS line. Choose it over the EVO PS 1200.4 when your speakers can use every watt and you are chasing maximum output. For a moderate four-speaker build, the 1200.4 or entry EVO PS 800.4 draw less current for the same channel count.

Who This Is For

You are building an SPL-focused Harley Touring system with high-efficiency pro-audio or horn-loaded speakers that thrive on power. The 2000.4 supplies up to 500W a channel to a front and rear stage, or 1000W a side bridged to a demanding mid-bass pair. If your speakers are conventional coaxials that will not use that power, the EVO PS 1200.4 is the better-matched and lower-draw choice.

What This Is Best For

  • A high-output front stage. Up to 500W RMS a channel drives pro-audio and horn-loaded speakers such as the Precision Power HTW-652 to the output they are engineered for, so the front stage stays clear over wind and pipes at speed.
  • A full four-speaker SPL build. Run a fairing pair and a saddlebag pair such as the Cicada CXX69.4 from one amplifier with power to spare on every channel.
  • A bridged high-power mid-bass stage. Bridged to two channels the 2000.4 makes 1000W RMS per side for heavy mid-bass drivers, keeping low end level with a loud front stage.
  • Clean output at high volume. A signal-to-noise ratio of 90dB and 0.1 percent THD keep the sound clean as you push the level, so more power does not mean more distortion.

This amplifier needs a charging upgrade

The 2000.4 draws 85A during music and up to 171A at maximum, with a recommended 90A to 100A music fuse depending on version. That is more than a stock Harley charging system can sustain. Plan for a high-output stator, a strong or lithium battery, and a 1/0 AWG power and ground feed such as the Cicada HDPG2KD kit before you fit this amplifier. It is offered in 2 ohm and 4 ohm versions: the 4 ohm version gives 4 x 330W at 4 ohm and 4 x 500W at 2 ohm. Match the version to your speaker load, and tell us your build if you want that confirmed.

The Bottom Line

The EVO PS 2000.4 is the four-channel amplifier to choose when your speakers can use serious power and you are building for maximum output in a compact chassis. Add it to cart above. For a moderate build that draws less current, the EVO PS 1200.4 is the sensible step down, and the SounDigital HKI Mini DSP lets you tune the stage to the bike.

Inside the EVO PS 2000.4

The amplifier runs a Class-D output stage across four channels at around 81 percent efficiency. At 2000W that efficiency is what keeps the amplifier thermally viable in a motorcycle install, where there is no airflow and the chassis lives in a sealed space. On the road: the 2000.4 sustains high output on a long summer run instead of stepping into thermal protection.

Output quality holds up under load thanks to a 90dB signal-to-noise ratio and 0.1 percent THD. A clean noise floor and low distortion matter most at high volume, where a lesser amplifier starts to sound harsh. On the road: the front stage stays clear and controlled at the volume you actually use to beat wind noise, not just in the driveway.

Why headroom changes the front stage

High-efficiency pro-audio and horn-loaded speakers convert power to volume very effectively, but they need that power delivered cleanly to do it. The 2000.4 gives each channel up to 500W of headroom, so the front stage plays loud without the amplifier clipping, and clipping is what damages speakers and makes a system sound harsh. Feed a pro-audio front stage this much clean power and it stays composed at highway speed. For conventional coaxials that cannot use it, the EVO PS 1200.4 is the better match.
