250W RMS, 94 dB. The dedicated mid-bass component for saddlebag lid builds.
The Cicada Audio CM69.2X is a 6×9-inch 2Ω mid-bass component speaker — 250W RMS, 94 dB sensitivity, Carbon Matrix Composite™ (CMC™) cone, OFC copper shorting ring, Black Coat™ OFC 2.0-inch voice coil, N35SH neodymium motor, and a die-cast aluminium basket with Vortex Flow Venting™. Frequency response 70 Hz – 10 kHz (±3 dB). Sold in pairs.
The CM69.2X is a dedicated mid-bass driver — no tweeter, no crossover — for builders running active DSP systems or component builds in 6×9-inch speaker positions. The primary position is the saddlebag lid: the factory speaker opening on Street Glide and Road Glide platforms that accepts the 6×9-inch format. Where the CHX69.2 puts a horn coaxial in the same footprint, the CM69.2X provides the mid-bass driver alone — CMC™ cone construction, 94 dB sensitivity, and the OFC copper shorting ring's inductance distortion reduction — for builds where DSP control of the crossover point is the priority.
Who This Speaker Is For
For riders building active or component rear stages in 6×9-inch saddlebag lid positions. The CM69.2X is the 2Ω version, correct for dedicated 2Ω-rated amplifiers in stereo. For bridged configurations or 4Ω builds, the CM69.4X is the 4Ω variant. For an all-in-one coaxial option in the same position, the CHX69.2 includes the horn tweeter and crossover.
What This Is Best For
- Active DSP rear stage builds in saddlebag lid positions — the CM69.2X in the factory or custom saddlebag lid speaker opening, driven by dedicated channels on a DSP amplifier (FLX700.4PRO, FLX1400.4PRO) or DSP processor (DSP412PRO). DSP control over crossover frequency, slope, and level in the saddlebag lid position — not available with a coaxial.
- Full active builds pairing a CM69.2X rear stage with a CM65.2X or CHX65.2 front stage — a rear mid-bass component in the saddlebag lid, front stage in the fairing, all driven from a DSP amplifier with independent channel control for front-rear balance and time alignment.
- Passive component rear stage builds — pairing the CM69.2X with a dedicated tweeter and an external passive crossover in the saddlebag lid enclosure. The 6×9-inch saddlebag position provides the mid-bass location; the tweeter mounts for optimised high-frequency dispersion within the lid.
- High-efficiency rear stage builds — at 94 dB sensitivity, the CM69.2X is more efficient than most coaxial alternatives in the same position, reducing the amplifier effort required for rear stage output at highway speed.
2Ω vs 4Ω — Choosing the Right Version
The CM69.2X is a 2Ω mid-bass driver. Choose the 2Ω version when running a dedicated 2Ω-rated amplifier in stereo — the FLX1400.4 and FLX2000.4 publish their rated output at 2Ω, where the CM69.2X delivers its full 250W RMS capacity. For bridged amplifier configurations requiring a 4Ω minimum load, the CM69.4X (4Ω) is the correct choice.
The Bottom Line
250W RMS, 94 dB, 6×9-inch mid-bass component with CMC™ cone and OFC copper shorting ring — the dedicated mid-bass driver for active and component rear stages in saddlebag lid positions.
Ready to build? Add to cart above. For the 4Ω variant, the CM69.4X is the same driver at 4Ω. For an all-in-one coaxial in the same position, the CHX69.2 includes the horn tweeter and crossover.
What's Inside the CM69.2X
The mid-bass cone is Carbon Matrix Composite™ (CMC™) — lightweight, rigid, and thermally stable under sustained high-output operation. The 2.0-inch / 51mm Black Coat™ OFC copper voice coil handles sustained 250W RMS with high conductivity and low thermal resistance. As a dedicated mid-bass driver with no tweeter to divide the signal, the cone operates across the full mid-bass range — the CMC™ material's stiffness keeps its resonant characteristics consistent across extended use in the saddlebag lid environment. On the road: defined, consistent mid-bass from the saddlebag lid position across a full day's riding at output.
The OFC copper shorting ring is mounted in the motor gap — a conductive sleeve that counteracts the voice coil's inductance variation as the coil moves. The effect is a reduction in second and third harmonic distortion (which a fluctuating inductance otherwise generates) and a flatter impedance curve at higher frequencies, extending usable response beyond what the driver would achieve without it. In a component system where the crossover point is set in DSP, the shorting ring's distortion reduction is most audible in the upper mid-range — the frequency band that carries vocal presence and instrument body. On the road: cleaner upper mid-bass from the rear stage — the frequencies that push through road noise and keep the rear fill from sounding congested.
The motor is an N35SH neodymium with H-grade temperature rating. The die-cast aluminium basket with Vortex Flow Venting™ channels airflow through the motor assembly for active thermal management. No external crossover is included or required — the CM69.2X is designed to be driven via a DSP active crossover or passive component network at the system level.
Sensitivity and Frequency Coverage
At 94 dB (1W/1m) and 250W RMS, the CM69.2X delivers rear-stage mid-bass output that exceeds the efficiency of the CHX69 coaxials in the same position by 2 dB. The difference is meaningful in the saddlebag lid position where the rear stage output target is set against a front stage and ambient highway noise: 2 dB less amplifier effort for the same perceived level. Frequency response runs 70 Hz – 10 kHz (±3 dB) — the appropriate range for mid-bass operation in a component system. In an active DSP setup, the crossover point to the companion tweeter is typically set between 3 kHz and 8 kHz depending on the tweeter used.
Why 2Ω — Amplifier Pairing
At 2Ω, the CM69.2X extracts full rated output from any 2Ω-stable motorcycle amplifier. For active DSP builds, the FLX700.4PRO and FLX1400.4PRO provide DSP crossover control and dedicated amplifier channels for both mid-bass and tweeter from a single unit. For high-output stereo builds without DSP, the FLX1400.4 and FLX2000.4 publish their rated output at 2Ω stereo. For bridged configurations, the CM69.4X satisfies the 4Ω minimum load requirement.
Fitment
