The SoundStream Reserve SG.V2 is an 8.3-inch multimedia head unit built specifically for 1998–2013 Harley-Davidson® Street Glide®, Electra Glide®, Ultra Classic®, Ultra Limited, and Tri Glide® Ultra models. Wireless Apple CarPlay®, wireless Android Auto®, iDataLink® Maestro® RR2 vehicle integration, retention of the factory Harman/Kardon Boom!™ amplifier on supported 2009–2013 models, built-in GPS navigation, wireless Bluetooth headset audio without a WHIM module, and Rally Mode™ group ride broadcasting — all in a single IPx5 water-resistant receiver that mounts in the factory batwing fairing location using OEM hardware, with no cutting or fabrication required.
Replacing the OEM head unit on an early batwing Touring bike shouldn't mean settling for a generic aftermarket fit. The SG.V2 is engineered specifically for the 1998–2013 batwing fairing architecture — plug-and-play installation, OEM AM/FM antenna compatibility, and full handlebar control retention with gauges and advanced thumb functions available through the Maestro® RR2.
New: SoundStream Reserve has added retention of the factory Harman/Kardon Boom!™ Audio amplifier to the SG.V2 through the iDataLink® Maestro® RR2. MTX-branded factory amplifiers were always retained by the SG.V2 and need no module. The Harman/Kardon unit is the one that could not previously be kept, because it waits for a digital turn-on command rather than a conventional 12V remote lead. SoundStream Reserve describes this as an industry first for the platform.

Navigation — The 1000 NIT display stays readable in direct sunlight at highway speeds. Built-in iGo Primo® GPS with the included magnetic mount antenna operates independently of mobile coverage. For most Australian riders, Apple Maps or Google Maps via CarPlay or Android Auto is the more current day-to-day solution — the built-in GPS is there when mobile coverage isn't.
Two-up riding — Pair up to two Bluetooth headsets wirelessly — rider and passenger — without a WHIM module. Configure the headsets to receive GPS navigation prompts, music, or both, so you're not fighting navigation call-outs over the music at volume.
Group rides — Rally Mode™ broadcasts your playlist to up to 300 riders within 100 metres (330 feet). The whole group rides to the same stream. Suited to club runs, touring groups, and charity events.
Riders monitoring engine health (2009–2013) — With an iDataLink® Maestro® RR2 module connected, the SG.V2 displays up to 10 real-time digital gauges from 40+ available parameters — subject to the data available from your specific bike — and provides pop-up alerts for oil pressure, fuel level, engine temperature, and more.
Fitment
The SG.V2 is a direct OEM-replacement head unit for 1998–2013 Harley-Davidson® batwing Touring motorcycles. It mounts in the factory head unit location using OEM mounting hardware — no brackets, no trim rings, no cutting. It uses the OEM AM/FM radio antenna with no adapters required, and includes a 26-inch (66 cm) USB cable with both Type-A and Type-C connectors, which can be routed to either side of the fairing. A magnetic mount GPS antenna is included.
Maestro® RR2 integration — digital gauges, advanced thumb control, and Harman/Kardon amplifier retention — is available on 2009–2013 models only. The SG.V2 installs and operates fully on 1998–2008 models: CarPlay, Android Auto, GPS, headsets, and Rally Mode™ all function.

Amplifier retention applies only where a compatible factory MTX or Harman/Kardon amplifier is fitted — most 1998–2013 batwing Touring bikes have no factory amplifier at all. Exact compatibility depends on model, year, amplifier and Maestro® firmware. Contact MAA before ordering if your bike has a factory amplifier.
Factory Amplifier Compatibility — Work Out Where Your Bike Sits
Most 1998–2013 batwing Touring bikes have no factory amplifier. Those are straight plug-and-play with the SG.V2 and nothing below applies. If your bike is a CVO or an Ultra, or an amplifier has been added at some point, find your case here.
1. MTX-branded factory amplifier — retained, no module required. MTX amplifiers use a conventional turn-on arrangement and have always been retained by the SG.V2. A Maestro® RR2 is only needed if you also want digital gauges and advanced thumb control.
2. Harman/Kardon factory amplifier, 2009–2013 — now retained with a Maestro® RR2. This is the new capability. The Harman/Kardon amplifier waits for a digital turn-on command, which is why it could not previously be kept. With an iDataLink® Maestro® RR2 fitted and flashed with the current vehicle-specific firmware, the SG.V2 provides that command and the factory amplifier and its speakers continue operating. On a CVO the amplifier normally sits under the Tour-Pak®; on some models it is inside the fairing. Either location is supported.
3. Harman/Kardon factory amplifier, 1998–2008 — not retained. Retention data is currently published for 2009 and newer factory amplifiers only. On a pre-2009 bike the factory amplifier must be bypassed and replaced — the SaddleTramp BC-9725 bypass harness kit is the correct starting point, paired with an aftermarket amplifier and speakers.
Not sure which amplifier you have? The brand is printed on the amplifier body — under the Tour-Pak® on most CVO models, inside the fairing on some. Send us a photo and we'll identify it.
Additional notes: The SG.V2 does not retain CB radio. Gauge functionality via Maestro® RR2 will not work on 2009–2013 motorcycles fitted with a ThunderMax ECM — this affects gauges only, not amplifier retention. If you are unsure about your bike's amplifier configuration or ECM, contact Motorcycle Audio Australia before ordering.
Note: Digital gauges, pop-up warnings, advanced thumb control programming, and Harman/Kardon amplifier retention require an iDataLink® Maestro® RR2 module flashed with the current vehicle-specific firmware, available separately from MAA (2009–2013 models only). MTX amplifier retention does not require a Maestro® module. The SG.V2 operates fully without a module — CarPlay, Android Auto, GPS, headsets, and Rally Mode™ all work independently — but handlebar controls will run in basic mode.
Common Questions
Will the SG.V2 retain my Harman/Kardon Boom!™ amplifier? On supported 2009–2013 applications, yes — with an iDataLink® Maestro® RR2 module flashed with the current firmware. On 1998–2008 bikes, no: the factory amplifier must be bypassed and replaced.
Do I need a Maestro® module for amplifier retention? For a Harman/Kardon amplifier, yes — the RR2 is what provides the digital turn-on command. For an MTX amplifier, no. Fitted an RR2 before this feature was released? It needs a reflash — contact us and we'll arrange it.

8.3" Quantum QLCD — 1000 NIT Ultra-Bright Touchscreen
The 8.3-inch widescreen LCD touchscreen runs at 1000 NITs — bright enough to remain clear in harsh Australian sunlight, with wide viewing angles and fast touch response. Maps, gauges, and menus are readable at a glance without leaning in. The larger-than-OEM screen makes a real difference on long rides where you're checking navigation frequently. Night brightness adjusts automatically so the display doesn't blind after dark.
Factory Harman/Kardon Amplifier Retention (2009–2013)
Fitted with an iDataLink® Maestro® RR2 module, the SG.V2 retains the factory Harman/Kardon Boom!™ Audio amplifier on supported 2009–2013 Street Glide®, Electra Glide®, Ultra, and CVO models.
The reason this matters is in how that amplifier is switched on. The MTX factory amplifier uses a more conventional turn-on arrangement and could already be retained by the SG.V2 without a module. The Harman/Kardon amplifier doesn't work that way — it waits for a digital turn-on command on the motorcycle's CAN bus, sent by the factory Harman/Kardon head unit. Remove that head unit and the amplifier never switches on, regardless of what is wired to it. Retaining it requires a radio that can communicate on the CAN bus and issue that command, which is why it depends on Maestro® integration. SoundStream Reserve describes this as an industry first for the platform.
For a supported 2009–2013 CVO or Ultra, this means the head unit can be upgraded without immediately removing the factory amplifier, replacing all of the speakers, or rewiring the Tour-Pak® system. The rest of the audio system can then be upgraded later if required.
The SG.V2 also gives you tuning control the factory radio never offered — a 15-band equaliser, independent front and rear high-pass crossovers, and low-pass and subsonic filters on the subwoofer output. That flexibility may help improve the result from a factory system that is still in good condition.
Retention data is currently published for 2009 and newer factory amplifiers only. On 1998–2008 bikes with a Harman/Kardon amplifier, the factory amplifier must still be bypassed and replaced.
iDataLink® Maestro® RR2 Integration — Gauges and Controls (2009–2013)
With an iDataLink® Maestro® RR2 module connected (sold separately, 2009–2013 models), the SG.V2 gains two-way communication with the Harley's CAN bus. Up to 10 real-time digital gauges are displayed on screen — choose from more than 40 available parameters including oil pressure, engine temperature, gear position, battery voltage, and fuel level, subject to the data available from your specific bike. Pop-up alerts notify you of critical readings without watching the gauge screen continuously. OEM handlebar thumb controls are retained and fully programmable for scrolling, selecting, and adjusting playback and settings, including press-and-hold functions not available in basic mode. The same CAN bus connection is what enables Harman/Kardon amplifier retention, covered above. The wiring harness is pre-configured for Maestro® RR2 connection.
Note: gauge functionality via Maestro® RR2 is not available on bikes fitted with a ThunderMax ECM. Amplifier retention is unaffected.
Built-in GPS Navigation — iGo Primo® with Offline Capability
The SG.V2 includes iGo Primo® GPS navigation, which operates independently of mobile coverage — useful where data is unreliable or unavailable. A magnetic mount GPS antenna is included. Australian maps are not pre-loaded; maps and points of interest for Australia are available for purchase and annual update through Naviextras.com.
For most Australian riders, Apple Maps or Google Maps via wireless CarPlay or Android Auto provides a more current and more detailed navigation experience. The built-in iGo system is the backup when your phone isn't an option.
Wireless Headset Integration — Rider and Passenger Audio, No WHIM Required
The SG.V2 connects directly to OEM and aftermarket Bluetooth® headsets and helmets without a Harley WHIM module — simplifying installation and removing a common point of failure. Pair up to two headsets simultaneously, covering rider and passenger. Configure the headsets to receive GPS navigation prompts, music, or both, so you're not fighting navigation call-outs over the music at volume.
Rally Mode™ — Group Ride Broadcasting for Up to 300 Riders
Rally Mode™ turns the SG.V2 into a broadcast hub for your group ride. Stream your playlist to up to 300 riders within 100 metres (330 feet) — all riding to the same music simultaneously. Riders with Rally Mode-equipped head units or accessories pair to the principal broadcaster's stream; the broadcaster controls the music, paired riders listen in. There's no limit on the number of users who can pair to a single broadcaster.
Audio Performance — 200W Class-D with Full DSP
The built-in 200W peak 4-channel Class-D amplifier is 2-ohm stable — enough clean power to drive high-performance fairing and bag speakers directly, or to serve as the head unit in a multi-amplifier build. Five-volt RCA outputs for front, rear, and subwoofer channels give downstream amplifiers more signal to work with, reducing noise at high volume. The 15-band digital equaliser includes preset and custom settings. High-pass crossovers operate independently for front and rear channels; low-pass and subsonic crossovers cover the subwoofer RCA output. When you're ready to move past a retained factory amplifier, those 5V outputs mean the head unit won't become the weak link in the system.
Rear Camera Input
An RCA video input with 12V trigger support and an on-screen shortcut allows connection of an aftermarket rear-view or reverse camera. The feed displays on the 8.3-inch screen, triggered automatically on reverse or manually via the shortcut. Pairs directly with the HD Vision UltraV2 rear camera.
Bluetooth® Audio
Independent of CarPlay and Android Auto, the SG.V2 supports standard Bluetooth® audio streaming, playback control, and hands-free calling — for when a full CarPlay or Android Auto session isn't needed.
IPx5 Water Resistance
The SG.V2's faceplate is rated IPx5 — protected against direct water spray from any direction. Built for long-term use in real riding conditions: rain, dust, and wash-downs included.
SiriusXM® Ready
The SG.V2 is hardware-ready for the SiriusXM® SXV300 vehicle connect tuner (sold separately). SiriusXM® satellite radio services are not available in Australia, but the capability is present for riders who spend time in North America.
