Dedicated mono amplifier for Harley-Davidson Touring — 1,600W RMS at 2Ω in the compact FLX chassis format

The Cicada Audio FLX1600.1 is a full-range mono Class-D amplifier built for Harley-Davidson Touring — delivering 1,600W RMS at 2Ω and 950W RMS at 4Ω, with HPF and LPF crossover covering 10 Hz–20 kHz in the compact FLX chassis format. The dedicated power channel for a serious mid-bass enclosure, subwoofer, or single-driver high-output stage. Requires 4 AWG power wiring.

A 4-channel amplifier running a bridged rear pair delivers useful subwoofer power — but it does so at the cost of two channels that could otherwise be driving full-range speakers, and it doesn't leave room in the signal chain for a dedicated sub channel with independent crossover control. The FLX1600.1 solves that directly: a single mono channel with 1,600W at 2Ω, its own HPF and LPF crossover, and the same compact FLX chassis profile that fits standard Harley Touring amp tray positions. Add it to a 4-channel build and every driver in the system gets its own dedicated amplifier output.

Who This Is For

For riders adding a dedicated subwoofer or mid-bass enclosure to an existing 4-channel build — or building from the ground up with a separate mono channel for the low end. The FLX1600.1 pairs naturally with any FLX 4-channel amp, freeing all four channels for the main speaker stage and giving the sub or mid-bass driver its own power supply. For builds requiring more mono output, the FLX2500.1 delivers 2,500W at 2Ω — with a lithium battery upgrade required.

What This Is Best For

  • Dedicated subwoofer channel in a multi-amp build — 1,600W at 2Ω or 950W at 4Ω powers a dedicated sub driver with real authority. Paired with an FLX 4-channel amp on the main stage, each driver in the system has its own amp channel at full rated output.
  • Mid-bass enclosure in a Tour-Pak or saddlebag position — a sealed or ported mid-bass enclosure in a compact box requires sustained mono power, not bridged output borrowed from a 4-channel amp. The FLX1600.1 provides that from a single dedicated channel.
  • High-output builds pairing with the FLX700.4PRO or FLX1400.4PRO — the PRO series amps include line-level pass-through outputs that feed a downstream mono amp with a DSP-processed low-pass signal. The FLX1600.1 is the natural mono amp pairing for that architecture.
  • Full-range mono applications — the LPF range extending to 20 kHz means the FLX1600.1 can operate as a full-range mono amp for a single large driver or custom speaker position when the crossover is not engaged.
  • Builds stepping up from bridged rear channels — replacing the bridged configuration on a 4-channel amp with a dedicated FLX1600.1 frees the rear channels to run their own speakers at full stereo output, while the sub gets more power and an independent crossover.

4 AWG Wiring Required

The FLX1600.1 requires 4 AWG power and ground wiring from the supply to the amplifier. A 100A fuse is recommended on the power feed. The HDPG4K 4 AWG power and ground kit is the correct wiring solution for this amplifier. For dual-amp installs pairing the FLX1600.1 with a 4-channel amp, the HDPG2KD is the correct dual-amp power and ground kit.

The Bottom Line

1,600W mono in the compact FLX chassis — the dedicated power channel for sub and mid-bass builds that don't want to borrow bridged output from a 4-channel amp. Ready to upgrade? Add to cart above. For more mono output with a lithium battery upgrade, the FLX2500.1 delivers 2,500W at 2Ω. For 4-channel power to pair with the FLX1600.1 on the main stage, the FLX700.4 or FLX1000.4 are the natural pairings.

Power Output — What the Numbers Mean

The FLX1600.1 is rated at two supply voltages. At 14.4V — a fully charged, engine-running system — the amp delivers 950W at 4Ω and 1,600W at 2Ω. At 12.5V — closer to battery voltage under heavy load — output drops to 670W at 4Ω and 1,250W at 2Ω. For builds running a 2Ω subwoofer or mid-bass driver, the 2Ω figure at 14.4V is the rated operating condition and the number that drives the product name.

The choice between 2Ω and 4Ω driver impedance affects both power output and amplifier thermal margin. At 2Ω, the amp delivers rated maximum output; at 4Ω, the amp runs cooler with more thermal headroom. For subwoofer applications where maximum excursion and output are the priority, 2Ω is the correct choice. For mid-bass builds where sustained thermal stability across a full riding day matters as much as peak output, 4Ω is worth considering. On the road: the FLX1600.1 running a 2Ω sub at 1,600W sustained highway volume will generate more heat than a 4Ω build — relevant if the amp is mounted in a sealed Tour-Pak or saddlebag position with limited airflow.

Crossover and Signal Control

The FLX1600.1 runs HPF and LPF crossover modes with a fixed 12 dB per octave slope. The HPF range covers 10–80 Hz — used as a subsonic filter to protect the driver from excursion below its usable frequency range. The LPF range covers 80 Hz–20 kHz — the main crossover point that rolls the mono channel off above the sub or mid-bass driver's operating range.

The LPF extending to 20 kHz means the FLX1600.1 can also operate as a full-range mono amplifier when the LPF is set above the speaker's usable range — relevant for custom single-driver builds where a dedicated mono amp is required without a low-pass restriction. Input sensitivity runs 0.2V–12V, covering both OEM Harley signal levels and standard RCA output from aftermarket head units or DSP pass-through outputs. On the road: DSP pass-through from the FLX700.4PRO or FLX1400.4PRO delivers a pre-filtered, time-aligned low-pass signal directly to the FLX1600.1 inputs — the sub channel arrives already crossover-processed, and the FLX1600.1 adds the power stage without a second crossover stage in the signal path.

System Integration

The FLX1600.1 accepts high-level speaker output from the factory Harley Boom! Box radio directly — no additional converter required for 2014–2023 models — or low-level RCA from any aftermarket head unit or downstream DSP pass-through output. Turn-on supports REM and DC offset modes.

At 70A music-level current draw, the FLX1600.1 exceeds the comfortable operating margin of most factory Harley charging systems when run alongside a 4-channel amp. Maximum draw is 140A; a 100A fuse is recommended on the power feed. For dual-amp installs, verify total system current load against the bike's alternator output and use the HDPG2KD dual-amp power and ground kit for the install.

2024+ Platform Notes

For 2023.5 CVO and 2024+ Harley-Davidson Touring models running Skyline OS, the FLX1600.1 can be integrated as part of an aftermarket audio system when paired with a NAV-TV ZEN-H or ZEN-H Pro upstream in the signal chain. Without a ZEN-H or ZEN-H Pro, integration with a 2023.5 CVO or 2024+ Harley is not supported. For 2014–2023 models (excluding 2023.5 CVO), the high-level input connects directly to the factory Boom! Box radio.
