All horn speakers have mechanical limits. Regardless of power ratings or advertised “MAX” figures, a speaker can only move so far before mechanical failure occurs. Most horn speaker failures are NOT burned voice coils. Damage is typically caused by over-excursion from running the speaker crossed over too low. This causes tinsel leads to tear away from the voice coil or spider, resulting in permanent damage. |
