6×9 horn output with the thermal margin of a 4Ω build.

The Cicada Audio CH69.4W is a 6×9-inch 4Ω coaxial horn speaker — 250W RMS, 95 dB sensitivity, aluminium horn tweeter with Nanofram™ all-weather horn cover, Black Coat™ OFC 2.5-inch mid-bass voice coil, N35SH neodymium motor, tweeter attenuation (-3/-6 dB), and an external 12 dB crossover in a die-cast aluminium basket with Vortex Flow Venting™. Built primarily for saddlebag lid enclosures on Harley-Davidson Touring. Sold in pairs.

The CH69.4W shares every construction element with the CH69.2W — the same Nanofram™ Horn Cover, the same 95 dB sensitivity, the same 250W RMS power handling. The 4Ω impedance presents a higher electrical load to the amplifier than the 2Ω version, which means lower current demand, reduced amplifier thermal stress, and compatibility with bridged amplifier configurations where a 4Ω minimum load is required. The horn output is identical. The infrastructure requirements are lighter.

Who This Speaker Is For

For riders running bridged rear channels, or who want the conservative 4Ω impedance for better system thermal performance. The CH69.4W is the 4Ω variant of the CH69.2W — the same driver, same rear-stage horn performance, 4Ω configuration. For the standard stereo 2Ω configuration, the CH69.2W extracts maximum power from a dedicated 2Ω-rated amp.

What This Is Best For

  • Bridged rear channels on Street Glide, Road Glide, or Ultra builds — when rear channels are bridged for higher per-channel output to the rear stage, the CH69.4W satisfies the 4Ω minimum load requirement while delivering the horn coaxial's 95 dB output from the same position.
  • Custom saddlebag lid builds on conservative 4Ω systems — for builds where the entire system runs 4Ω speakers to reduce total current demand, the CH69.4W is the rear-stage complement to the CH65.4C front stage.
  • Uniform 4Ω horn system builds — pairing CH69.4W with CH65.4C and CH8.4W gives the full system a consistent 4Ω impedance across every horn speaker position. Consistent impedance simplifies amplifier matching, reduces wiring complexity, and cuts total system current demand.
  • Builds where the amplifier is already working hard on the front stage — 4Ω rear speakers reduce the current the amplifier draws from the rear channels, giving the front stage more headroom in a shared-amp system where total electrical load matters.

2Ω vs 4Ω — Choosing the Right Version

The CH69.4W is a 4Ω speaker. Choose the 4Ω version for bridged amplifier configurations, conservative system designs where amplifier thermal margin matters, or when the amplifier already delivers sufficient power at 4Ω. For maximum output from a dedicated 2Ω-rated amplifier in stereo, the CH69.2W (2Ω) is the correct choice.

The Bottom Line

250W RMS, 95 dB, 6×9 horn coaxial with Nanofram™ all-weather cover and tweeter attenuation — the 4Ω version for bridged and conservative builds in rear stage and Tour-Pak positions.

Ready to upgrade? Add to cart above. For the 2Ω variant, the CH69.2W is the same speaker at 2Ω. For an 8-inch format in larger custom enclosures, the CH8.4W is the larger-format 4Ω option.

What's Inside the CH69.4W

The CH69.4W is identical in construction to the CH69.2W — all construction notes below apply equally to both impedance variants.

The tweeter is an aluminium dome in a horn waveguide, protected by the Nanofram™ Horn Cover for all-weather horn protection in exposed rear, saddlebag, and Tour-Pak positions. The removable threaded horn ring allows replacement or modification. Horn loading delivers 95 dB sensitivity from the aluminium dome. On the road: rear-stage high-frequency output that remains audible at highway speed and contributes meaningfully to system presence.

The mid-bass cone is water resistant treated paper. The 2.5-inch / 64mm Black Coat™ OFC copper mid-bass voice coil handles sustained 250W RMS with the thermal headroom that the 4Ω impedance adds to both the driver and the amplifier. The 1.4-inch / 36mm OFC copper tweeter voice coil completes the signal path. The motor is an N35SH neodymium with H-grade temperature rating.

The die-cast aluminium basket with Vortex Flow Venting™ manages thermal build-up through active airflow. The tweeter attenuation of -3 or -6 dB allows balancing the horn tweeter's output against the mid-bass in the specific acoustic environment the rear speaker occupies.

The external 12 dB crossover is custom-tooled, vented, and encased, with the tweeter attenuation resistor heat-sink encased separately.

Sensitivity and Frequency Coverage

At 95 dB (1W/1m), the CH69.4W delivers rear-stage output matched to a high-sensitivity front stage. The 4Ω impedance means the amplifier draws less current from the rear channels — in a four-channel build where all channels share one amp, 4Ω rear speakers give the front channels more thermal headroom.

Frequency response runs 75 Hz – 20 kHz (±3 dB). The 6×9 cone area provides meaningfully better low-end extension than a 6.5-inch in a comparable enclosure volume — a more substantial bass contribution from the rear stage that a smaller driver cannot deliver.

Why 4Ω — Bridged Amps and Thermal Margin

A 4Ω speaker presents a higher electrical load to the amplifier than a 2Ω speaker — lower current demand, less heat on both sides of the connection, and compatibility with bridged configurations. For builds where rear channels are bridged for maximum per-channel output to the rear stage, the 4Ω load satisfies the minimum impedance requirement on most amplifiers including the FLX500.4 and FLX700.4. For stereo installs at the amp's rated 2Ω output, the CH69.2W is the matching choice.

Fitment

  • Designed primarily for custom saddlebag lid enclosures — the most common 6×9 position on Harley-Davidson Touring models.
  • Custom saddlebag lid enclosures: Purpose-built saddlebag lids with appropriate internal volume and a 6×9 cutout. The primary fitment for this speaker on Harley Touring.
  • Tour-Pak positions: Aftermarket Tour-Pak lids accommodating 6×9 drivers are available — the CH69.4W fits those builds when the Tour-Pak lid is designed for this format.
  • Other rear speaker positions on models with 6×9 factory or custom locations.
  • Mounting Depth: 93 mm (3.7 in). Mounting Diameter (cutout): 155 mm × 226 mm (6.6 in × 9.3 in).
  • Compatible with 4Ω-rated amplifiers including bridged configurations — FLX500.4, FLX700.4, and other 4Ω-stable motorcycle amplifiers.
