The bi-ampable 5×7" built for Harley CVO Boom! Stage II rear speakers — 2Ω woofer for maximum output.
The CXX57.2 is Cicada's Pro-series 5×7" bi-ampable coaxial — a plug-in replacement for Harley-Davidson CVO Boom! Stage II rear speakers, with a 2Ω woofer and 4Ω tweeter, Kevlar cone, N45H neodymium motor, 125W RMS, V8™ Dispersion Guide and Rain or Shine™ weatherproof construction. Runs as a full-range coaxial or in true bi-amp mode with independent woofer and tweeter channels. Sold in pairs.
CVO Touring models with Boom! Stage II use bi-amped rear speakers — separate amplifier channels for the woofer and tweeter, running through a bi-amp wiring harness. Most aftermarket 5×7" speakers are not wired for this. The CXX57.2 is: independent woofer and tweeter inputs match the OEM Boom! Stage II harness architecture directly, with a switchable crossover for standard coaxial operation on bikes running a single channel per side.
Who This Speaker Is For
For CVO Touring riders with factory Boom! Stage II saddlebag lid speakers who want the simplest meaningful upgrade to the rear stage — pull out the factory speakers, plug in the CXX57.2, and gain Kevlar cone construction, N45H motor, V8™ Dispersion Guide and 125W RMS handling in exchange. On a bike with the Stage II bi-amp harness, no adapters or rewiring are needed. It also runs as a standard coaxial in any 5×7" saddlebag lid position with a compatible amplifier. For bridged-amp configurations or conservative builds, the CXX57.4 is the 4Ω variant.
What This Is Best For
- CVO Boom! Stage II replacement — the bi-ampable wiring terminals match the OEM Stage II harness. Pull out the factory speakers, plug in the CXX57.2. Kevlar cone, N45H motor, V8™ Dispersion Guide and 125W RMS handling replace the factory CVO drivers without wiring modification.
- DSP-tuned bi-amp systems — with independent woofer and tweeter channels, the CXX57.2 allows separate gain, EQ and crossover control over the two drivers through a DSP processor. Few aftermarket 5×7" speakers support that architecture natively, which is what makes a true bi-amp rear stage practical on a CVO.
- Maximum rear-stage output from CVO wiring — the 2Ω woofer impedance extracts more power from the rear channels of a dedicated amplifier than a 4Ω driver would. For CVO riders wanting the most from existing Stage II architecture, the 2Ω woofer is the right choice.
- Standard coaxial builds in any 5×7" lid position — the switchable crossover allows the CXX57.2 to run as a full-range coaxial from a single amplifier channel. Pairs well with CXX65.2 fairing speakers for a matched Pro-series front and rear stage.
First — does your bike actually have a 5×7" saddlebag speaker position?
This is the question to settle before ordering, because it changes the job completely. Harley's factory saddlebag speaker size is 5×7", but on 2014–2023 Touring models a saddlebag lid speaker was effectively a CVO-tier feature: an ordinary Street Glide, Road Glide, Electra Glide or Ultra Limited left the factory with no saddlebag speaker opening at all. If your lids are solid, the CXX57.2 is not the starting point — you need speaker lids, a prepared bag or a cut-in kit first, plus wiring and amplifier channels. If your lids already carry factory or accessory 5×7" speakers, this is a straight replacement. Not sure which you have? Send us your year, model and a photo of the lid and we will tell you.
CVO note from Cicada: on 2014–2023 CVO models the lid basket may require modification for direct fitment. Worth confirming before you book the job.
Bi-Amp Mode vs Coaxial Mode
The CXX57.2 has two sets of input terminals — one for the woofer (2Ω), one for the tweeter (4Ω). In bi-amp mode, each driver is powered by a separate amplifier channel, matching the Boom! Stage II wiring architecture. In coaxial mode, the built-in 6dB crossover is engaged and both drivers run from a single channel. The mode switch is built into the speaker assembly. For the 4Ω version, choose the CXX57.4.
The Bottom Line
A bi-ampable 5×7" that replaces Harley-Davidson CVO Boom! Stage II rear speakers on their own harness — Kevlar cone, N45H neodymium motor, 125W RMS, V8™ Dispersion Guide, 2Ω woofer for maximum power from Stage II wiring, and switchable bi-amp/coaxial modes. Rain or Shine™ weatherproof. Mounting hardware and installation guide included.
Ready to upgrade your CVO rear stage? Add to cart above. For 4Ω or bridged-amp configurations, the CXX57.4 is the 4Ω variant.
What's Inside the CXX57.2
The cone is Kevlar — the woven aramid fibre chosen for its low mass, high stiffness and moisture resistance. In a 5×7" driver operating inside a saddlebag lid, dimensional stability across the temperature range of a motorcycle environment matters as much as it does in the larger CXX formats. At 125W RMS, a stiff Kevlar cone maintains its shape at the excursion levels this driver is rated for. On the road: cleaner, more controlled output at volume — particularly noticeable in the upper midrange where less controlled cones begin to break up.
The N45H neodymium motor drives a 1.4-inch mid-bass voice coil — stronger magnetic flux density than the N35 in the CX range, with the H-grade temperature rating for sustained thermal stability. The stronger motor gives better voice coil control at the power levels the CXX57.2 is rated for. On the road: the driver stays composed at highway-speed output levels without the magnetic saturation that causes distortion in less specified motors.
The tweeter is a 1.0-inch PEI dome loaded by the V8™ Dispersion Guide for 360° tweeter projection — Polyetherimide chosen for thermal stability and UV/moisture resistance in an outdoor mounting position. The independent tweeter input in bi-amp mode allows separate drive and tuning through a DSP. In coaxial mode, the switchable built-in 6dB crossover handles the split automatically. On the road: clean, non-fatiguing high-frequency detail distributed across the listening area from a rear position that rarely receives a direct listening axis.
The custom-tooled polycarbonate basket is UV-stabilised and thermally resistant, with UV protection applied across all surfaces, maintaining alignment under the vibration and heat of a saddlebag lid position at speed.
Sensitivity and Frequency Coverage
At 89 dB (1W/1m) — Cicada's published measurement basis for this driver — the CXX57.2 is a lower-sensitivity driver than the CXX65 and CXX69 formats, a function of the 5×7" cone area. The 2Ω woofer impedance compensates by extracting more power from the amplifier at a given voltage, delivering higher actual output than a 4Ω driver of the same sensitivity. Paired with a quality 2Ω-stable amplifier, the CXX57.2 has the output to perform as a rear stage at highway speed.
Frequency response runs 50 Hz – 20 kHz (±3 dB). The 5×7" format gives meaningful mid-bass extension, covering the rear stage's frequency responsibilities from a saddlebag lid position. In bi-amp mode, separate tuning of the woofer and tweeter crossover points through a DSP can optimise this coverage further.
Why 2Ω — CVO Stage II Architecture and Power
The Harley-Davidson Boom! Stage II architecture powers the woofer and tweeter separately — the woofer channel typically runs from a dedicated amplifier output, and the 2Ω impedance is the correct match for extracting the rated power from that channel. An amplifier producing 100W RMS × 4 at 4Ω might produce 175W RMS × 4 at 2Ω from the same hardware — at 89 dB sensitivity, that additional power is where the CXX57.2 gets its rear-stage volume from.
In coaxial mode the same logic applies to the single amplifier channel driving the speaker. For bridged-amp configurations where a 4Ω minimum load is required, the CXX57.4 is the correct choice.
Fitment
- Mounting depth: 56.8 mm (2.23 in).
- Mounting diameter (cutout): 123 mm × 185 mm (4.84 in × 7.3 in).
- Plug-in replacement for Harley-Davidson CVO Boom! Stage II rear speakers — bi-ampable terminals match the OEM Stage II wiring architecture, so no adapters or rewiring are required on a bike already running that harness.
- Fits any 5×7" saddlebag lid position where one already exists: CVO Street Glide (2014–2023), CVO Road Glide (2015–2023), and any Street Glide, Road Glide, Electra Glide, Ultra Limited or Road Glide Limited fitted with factory or accessory 5×7" speaker lids.
- Solid saddlebag lids need lid hardware first. Ordinary 2014–2023 Touring models did not leave the factory with a saddlebag speaker opening — replacement speaker lids, prepared bags or a cut-in kit are required before any 5×7" speaker can be fitted.
- 2014–2023 CVO: per Cicada, the lid basket may require modification for direct fitment.
- Requires a dedicated external amplifier rated for 2Ω woofer operation — Cicada FLX500.4, FLX700.4, Rockford Fosgate, Soundstream, and Diamond Audio.
