200 watts. 8 inches. The Pro coaxial for serious Harley custom builds.
The CXX8.2 is Cicada's Pro-series 8" coaxial – a 2Ω large-format driver for custom Harley-Davidson® audio builds with positions that accommodate an 8-inch speaker. 200W RMS, 93 dB sensitivity, Kevlar cone, N45H neodymium motor, 2.0-inch copper voice coil, V8™ Dispersion Guide for 360° tweeter projection, and Rain or Shine™ weatherproof construction. Tour-Pak, saddlebag lid, lower fairing, and bespoke build positions. Sold in pairs.
Where the CXX65 and CXX69 ranges cover the factory speaker positions on Harley-Davidson Touring models, the CXX8.2 is the large-format option – an 8-inch coaxial for custom builds and any Harley application where the physical space allows a larger driver and the goal is maximum acoustic output from a coaxial design. At 200W RMS into a Kevlar cone driven by a 2.0-inch voice coil and N45H motor, the CXX8.2 is the highest-output coaxial in the Cicada Pro range.
Who This Speaker Is For
For riders building custom Harley audio systems with physical positions that accommodate an 8-inch driver, running a dedicated 2Ω-rated amplifier. Custom builds, saddlebag lid, lower fairing, Tour-Pak, and bespoke build positions are the typical applications. If the standard fairing and saddlebag positions are already running CXX65 and CXX69 speakers, the CXX8.2 extends the system further – more cone area, more air movement, and 200W RMS power capacity in a larger format. For bridged-amp configurations or conservative system designs, the CXX8.4 is the 4Ω variant.
What This Is Best For
- Tour-Pak, saddlebag lid, lower fairing, and custom large-format builds – where the physical position accepts an 8-inch driver, the CXX8.2 delivers the most output of any coaxial in the Cicada Pro range. More cone area, more air movement, and 200W RMS into a Kevlar-coned, N45H-motored driver purpose-built for the demands of a motorcycle environment.
- High-output system builds extending beyond the standard positions – for riders running CXX65.2 and CXX69.2 in factory positions who want to add large-format output from a custom location, the CXX8.2 adds a significant acoustic presence to the system.
- Builds that need low-end contribution from a coaxial driver – the 8-inch cone area and 50 Hz lower extension make the CXX8.2 a genuine bass contributor in a system without a dedicated subwoofer. More cone area at lower frequencies means more air movement, more perceived bass presence.
- Maximum coaxial output from a 2Ω-rated amplifier – paired with a Cicada FLX700.4 or equivalent, the CXX8.2 at 2Ω extracts the full rated output from the amplifier into the largest coaxial chassis in the Pro range.
2Ω vs 4Ω – Choosing the Right Version
The CXX8.2 is a 2Ω speaker rated at 200W RMS, designed for use with a dedicated 2Ω-rated motorcycle amplifier. Most quality Harley-specific amplifiers – including the Cicada FLX700.4, Rockford Fosgate, Soundstream, and Diamond Audio – are 2Ω stable. Choose the CXX8.4 (4Ω) for bridged amplifier configurations or when a more conservative system with better amplifier thermal margin is the priority.
What's Inside the CXX8.2
The cone is Kevlar – the material that justifies the step up from the standard CX range. On an 8-inch driver moving air at 200W RMS, a stiff Kevlar cone maintains its shape under high excursion in a way a polypropylene cone cannot, reducing distortion at the output levels this driver is rated for. Moisture resistance and dimensional stability across the full temperature range of a motorcycle environment – from cold starts to sustained summer highway running – complete the specification. On the road: the system stays clean and controlled at high output rather than compressing and hardening as power increases.
The N45H neodymium motor drives a 2.0-inch copper voice coil – the larger voice coil is required to handle the thermal demands of 200W RMS and to provide the control needed for an 8-inch cone at high excursion. N45H delivers the magnetic flux density to manage that coil properly, with the H-grade temperature rating ensuring the magnet holds its properties under sustained load. On the road: consistent output across a full day of riding – no thermal rolloff as the speaker heats up over distance.
The tweeter is a 1.2-inch PEI dome loaded by the V8™ Dispersion Guide for 360° tweeter projection. At the scale of an 8-inch build, wide tweeter coverage is essential – the V8™ horn geometry ensures high-frequency energy is distributed across the full listening area rather than beamed toward a single point. The built-in 6dB crossover is integrated into the assembly, protecting the tweeter from low-frequency energy without requiring an external crossover unit. On the road: usable treble detail regardless of rider position or mounting angle.
The custom-tooled polycarbonate basket is UV-stabilised and thermally resistant, maintaining driver alignment under the vibration and thermal conditions of a motorcycle at speed.
Sensitivity and Frequency Coverage
At 93 dB (1W/1m), the CXX8.2 delivers strong efficiency for a coaxial driver of this size. Combined with 200W RMS power capacity and the lower current demand that a properly installed 2Ω system can supply, the CXX8.2 has genuine dynamic headroom – able to be heard clearly over Harley exhaust and highway wind noise without running out of output margin.
Frequency response runs 50 Hz – 20 kHz (±3 dB). The 8-inch cone area moves substantially more air at lower frequencies than a 6.5-inch or 6×9-inch driver, making the CXX8.2 a meaningful contributor to the low end of a system rather than a fill speaker. For builds also running CXX65 or CXX69 in factory positions, the CXX8.2 in a custom location adds genuine bass extension and acoustic scale to the system.
Why 2Ω – Amplifier Pairing
Dedicated motorcycle amplifiers – including the Cicada FLX700.4 – publish their rated output at 2Ω. The CXX8.2 at 2Ω is the correct impedance match for extracting full rated output from the amplifier into a speaker rated to handle it. At 200W RMS power capacity, the CXX8.2 is built for exactly that operating condition.
The trade-off is current demand – a 2Ω load draws more from the amplifier. An installation done with proper gauge wiring and a genuinely 2Ω-stable amplifier is essential. For bridged configurations or conservative system designs where 4Ω is preferred, the CXX8.4 is the matching variant.
Fitment
- Mounting depth: 69 mm (2.7 in).
- Designed for Harley-Davidson builds with 8-inch speaker positions – Tour-Pak, custom saddlebag lid, lower fairing, and bespoke build locations. Not a direct fit for standard factory Harley speaker positions.
- Requires a dedicated external amplifier rated at 2Ω – Cicada FLX700.4, Rockford Fosgate, Soundstream, and Diamond Audio are all 2Ω stable.
