The CXK69.4 is identical in construction to the CXK69.2 — all construction notes below apply equally to both impedance variants.
The mid-bass cone is Carbon Matrix Composite™ (CMC™) — lightweight, rigid, and thermally stable. The 2.0-inch / 51mm Black Coat™ OFC copper voice coil handles sustained 250W RMS. The OFC copper shorting ring in the motor gap reduces inductance modulation distortion. The 4Ω impedance adds thermal headroom to driver and amplifier while delivering the same 94 dB sensitivity and 70 Hz – 10 kHz range as the 2Ω variant. On the road: the same mid-bass character and output from the saddlebag lid position as the CXK69.2, with the amplifier running cooler on the rear channels.
The tweeter is the same 1.0-inch shallow ring radiator horn at 101 dB with field-replaceable diaphragm and aluminium die-cast backplate — the tweeter impedance is 4Ω on both kit variants. The 12 dB passive crossover at 7 kHz is external, custom-tooled, vented, and encased.
Sensitivity and Frequency Coverage
At 94 dB mid-bass and 101 dB tweeter, the CXK69.4 matches the output of the CXK69.2 — impedance changes amplifier compatibility, not speaker performance. Combined system frequency response runs 70 Hz – 20 kHz with the passive crossover managing the transition at 7 kHz. The 4Ω mid-bass impedance means the amplifier draws less current on the rear channels — relevant in builds where total system current demand is a design consideration.
