The same SoundStream head unit is often known by four or five different names. The current flagship for 2014-2023 Harley Touring is sold as the SoundStream Reserve V2, carries the model code HDHU.V2, and gets called the SoundStream V2, the Precision Power V2 or simply the V2 depending on who you ask. None of these are different products. This guide decodes every name in the SoundStream and Precision Power head unit range, so you know exactly which unit is which and what fits your bike.
Quick answer: SoundStream and Precision Power are sister brands under Epsilon Electronics, and their Harley head unit range has been sold under both names. The model code tells you the platform: 14 means the 2014-2023 Boom! Box Touring platform, 9813 means 1998-2013. So the HDHU.V2, Reserve V2, SoundStream V2 and Precision Power V2 are all the same current 8.3-inch flagship for 2014-2023 Touring, the WHD14+ is the current 7-inch unit for the same platform, and the WHD.9813 family covers 1998-2013 bikes.

The WHD.UNLOC is the odd one out in the table above: an OEM integration kit built around an iDataLink Maestro RR2 module, not a head unit.
Why Does One Head Unit Have Five Names?
One head unit, five names: Reserve V2, SoundStream V2, Precision Power V2, HDHU.V2 and plain “the V2”.
SoundStream and Precision Power are sister brands under Epsilon Electronics, and the Harley head unit range has been sold under both names over the years. The same hardware has appeared in listings as Precision Power, as SoundStream, and as SoundStream Reserve, which is the premium line name the current units sit under. Add the model code and the shorthand riders naturally use, and you end up with one unit answering to Reserve V2, SoundStream V2, Precision Power V2, HDHU.V2 and plain V2.
None of this changes what arrives in the box. Whatever name you found it under, the unit MAA supplies for a 2014-2023 Touring flagship build is the Reserve V2 (HDHU.V2), and the simpler current alternative is the WHD14+.
How to Read the Model Codes
The codes are more logical than they look:
- The platform number tells you the bike. 14 means the 2014-2023 Boom! Box Touring platform. 9813 means 1998-2013.
- RG and SG tell you the fairing. RG is the Road Glide shark nose, SG is the batwing shared by Street Glide, Electra Glide and Ultra models.
- Suffixes mark generations. The plus sign and Si marked updated versions of the original HDHU.14, and V2 marks the current generation.
- Reserve is a range name, not a model. It is the premium line the current units sit under, which is why you see Reserve V2 and Reserve SG.V2.
Which Unit Fits Your Bike?
Start from your platform, not the product name:

Is the Precision Power V2 different from the SoundStream Reserve V2?
No. They are the same head unit. SoundStream and Precision Power are sister brands under Epsilon Electronics, and the unit's model code is HDHU.V2. Retailers and forums use the names interchangeably.
What does HDHU stand for?
It is the model code family for these Harley-Davidson head units, with the number identifying the platform: HDHU.14 codes fit the 2014-2023 Boom! Box Touring platform and HDHU.9813 codes fit 1998-2013 Touring.
I have an older HDHU.14 or HDHU.14Si. Can I still get parts?
Yes. MAA stocks replacement harnesses for the HDHU.14+ and the HDHU.14Si and V2. If your unit needs more than a harness, contact us with the model code on the chassis and we will advise the best path.
Do any of these fit a 2024 or newer Street Glide or Road Glide?
No. The redesigned 2024+ models run Skyline OS with a wide 12.3-inch display, and there is currently no direct replacement aftermarket head unit for that platform. If your 2024 bike is a carryover model with the 6.5-inch Boom! Box radio, the WHD14+ covers selected confirmed applications. Confirm your platform before ordering.
