Head Units – Trike Touring

Head Units for the Harley-Davidson Tri Glide® Ultra and Freewheeler®

Head-unit options for Harley's trikes follow the same rules as the two-wheel Touring range, decided by model year. The Tri Glide® Ultra is a faired batwing trike, so its head-unit options match the equivalent batwing bike for each year. Pre-2014 trikes use a conventional radio aperture, 2014 to 2023 trikes run the factory Boom! Box radio, and 2024 and newer trikes use Skyline OS with A2B digital audio. The Freewheeler® is unfaired, so plan its front end around its own layout.

What is Different on a Trike

For a 2014 to 2023 Tri Glide, the same wireless CarPlay head units used on the batwing apply, so see the 2014 to 2023 batwing head units. On a 2024 and newer trike, Skyline OS makes a direct head-unit swap impractical, so the practical path is to keep the factory unit and add amplification through a compatible A2B interface. The real trike-specific gain is tuning: the longer distance from the front stage to the rear listening position makes a DSP with time alignment more audibly worthwhile than on a two-wheeler.

FAQ

What head unit fits a 2014 to 2023 Tri Glide?

The Tri Glide® Ultra is a faired batwing trike, so the same wireless CarPlay head units used on the 2014 to 2023 batwing apply. See the 2014 to 2023 batwing head units.

Can I replace the head unit on a 2024 and newer trike?

Not practically. Skyline OS makes a direct aftermarket swap difficult, as on the two-wheel models. The practical path is to keep the factory unit and add amplification through a compatible A2B interface such as the NAV-TV ZEN-H.

Does a trike benefit from a DSP?

Yes, and it can be even more beneficial than on a two-wheeler. The longer distance from the front stage to the rear listening position makes time alignment more audibly significant, so a DSP earns its place in a trike build.

Head Units for Tri Glide Ultra and Freewheeler

Trike head-unit options follow the two-wheel Touring rules by year. The faired Tri Glide® Ultra matches the batwing head units for each year, while the unfaired Freewheeler® is planned around its own layout. On 2024 and newer Skyline OS trikes, keep the factory unit and add amplification via a compatible A2B interface. A DSP with time alignment is especially worthwhile on a trike.
