6.5" PRO horn coaxials at 4Ω – the 2014+ Harley-Davidson® fairing speaker for bridged channels and all-4Ω systems
The Cicada Audio CHX65.4PRO is a 6.5-inch 4Ω coaxial with a horn-loaded aluminium tweeter, rated at 300W RMS (600W peak) with 92dB sensitivity, for 2014 and newer Harley-Davidson factory speaker locations. It uses a Carbon Matrix Composite™ cone, N45SH neodymium motor, flat-wound 51mm (2.0") mid-bass coil and 44mm (1.75") tweeter coil. A vented diecast basket, Nanofram™ horn cover and external 12dB crossovers with tweeter attenuation complete it. Sold as a pair.
The CHX65.4PRO and the CHX65.2PRO share every part except the voice coil winding. The 4Ω load is what allows bridging and keeps the current draw down. Against the original CHX65.4, which remains available, the PRO adds a larger 1.75" tweeter coil, an N45SH motor, a flat-wound coil on a TIL former, a vented basket, a cloth surround and a 3-year warranty.
Who This Is For
Riders on 2014-on Touring models who bridge their front channels to put more power into the fairing pair, or who are building a full system at 4Ω so a single amp can drive every position without working at its lowest load. It suits owners who value thermal margin and a quieter current draw as much as peak output. For a 2Ω-stable amp running one speaker per channel, the CHX65.2PRO gets more from it.
What This Is Best For
- Bridged front stage on a compact amp – the FLX700.4PRO bridges to 350W × 2 into 4Ω and adds DSP to set the high-pass and tune the horn. That's a close match for this speaker's 300W RMS rating in a small chassis.
- Four speakers from one amp at 4Ω – the FLX2000.4 delivers 331W × 4 into 4Ω. Pair the CHX65.4PRO with the CHX69.4PRO at the rear for a full PRO system at a consistent load.
- Heat and current headroom – half the current of a 2Ω load at the same voltage means less heat in the amp and less demand on the charging system. That counts on a bike already running heated gear, lights or a second amplifier.
- A long-run horn that stays clean – the larger tweeter coil and SH-grade motor keep the top end clean when it's hot, with –3dB or –6dB attenuation if you want it softer.
Set the High-Pass at 120Hz or Above
The CHX65.4PRO needs a high-pass filter of 120Hz minimum at 24dB per octave. Below that point the cone runs out of travel, and the tinsel leads tear from over-excursion, not from heat. If your amplifier's filter is only 12dB per octave, set it higher.
Is 4Ω the Right Choice for Your Amp?
Choose 4Ω if either of these applies. First, you'll bridge channels: a bridged output sees half the speaker's impedance on each channel, so 4Ω is needed to keep a 2Ω-stable amp within its rating. Second, you want the whole system at 4Ω for lower current and heat. If neither applies and your amp is 2Ω-stable in stereo, the CHX65.2PRO will draw more power from each channel.
The Bottom Line
The CHX65.4PRO puts PRO horn performance into 2014+ fairings at the load bridged and all-4Ω systems need: 300W RMS and 92dB, with a motor and tweeter built for long, hot, loud rides. Pair it with the CHX69.4PRO, or use the System Builder to match a full system to your bike.

What's Inside the CHX65.4PRO
The N45SH neodymium motor gives a stronger magnetic field than the original CHX65's N35SH, with the SH rating holding that strength at high temperature. It drives a 51mm (2.0") flat-wound copper coil on a TIL composite former, sealed in Black Coat™ thermoset resin. On the road: firm bass control that doesn't fade as the fairing heats up.
The tweeter coil grows to 44mm (1.75"), giving the horn more thermal capacity. The aluminium dome sits behind the Nanofram™ horn cover on a removable threaded flange. On the road: vocals and cymbals stay clear at speed without turning harsh as the session goes on.
The Carbon Matrix Composite™ cone and low-profile cloth surround keep moving mass low. The Vortex Flow Venting™ diecast basket pumps air across the coil with every stroke. The Rain or Shine Pro™ finish resists UV and moisture. On the road: the speaker breathes, cools itself and shrugs off the weather.
Why 4Ω
Bridging joins two amplifier channels into one output, and each channel then works into half the speaker's impedance. With a 4Ω speaker that's 2Ω per channel, within the rating of the bridgeable amps in the Cicada range. The FLX700.4 and FLX700.4PRO give 350W × 2 this way. In stereo, a 4Ω load halves the current compared with 2Ω, so the FLX2000.4 can drive four of these at 331W each while running cooler than it would at its 2Ω rating.
Sensitivity and Frequency Coverage
92dB (1W/1m) means strong output for each watt, and 75Hz to 20kHz (±3dB) covers the range a fairing speaker should handle once it is high-passed at 120Hz. The internal 12dB-per-octave crossover divides cone and horn at 4kHz.
Mounting
Mounting depth is 67mm (2.6") and mounting diameter is 145.4mm (5.75"), for 2014 and newer Harley-Davidson factory speaker locations.
