400W RMS. The 6×9 PRO horn coaxial for saddlebag lid and rear stage builds.
The Cicada Audio CHX69.2 is a 6×9-inch 2Ω PRO coaxial horn speaker — 400W RMS, 92 dB sensitivity, aluminium horn tweeter with Nanofram™ all-weather horn cover, repairable CHT175 1.75-inch tweeter voice coil, Carbon Matrix Composite™ (CMC™) mid-bass cone, Black Coat™ OFC 2.5-inch mid-bass voice coil, N35SH neodymium motor, tweeter attenuation (-3/-6 dB), and an external 12 dB crossover in a die-cast aluminium basket with Vortex Flow Venting™. Built primarily for saddlebag lid enclosures on Harley-Davidson Touring. Sold in pairs.
The CHX69.2 brings the PRO series construction to the 6×9 format: Carbon Matrix Composite™ cone in place of treated paper, a 1.75-inch repairable CHT175 tweeter voice coil, and 400W RMS power handling — 150W more than the CH69.2W. At 92 dB sensitivity and 46 Hz – 20 kHz frequency response, the CHX69.2 extends meaningfully deeper than the standard CH69 and handles more sustained power. In saddlebag lid enclosures where the install is permanent and the rear stage is expected to match a serious front fairing build, this is the 6×9 horn coaxial to run.
Who This Speaker Is For
For riders adding a dedicated rear stage with PRO series construction — CMC™ cone, repairable tweeter voice coils, and 400W RMS headroom. The CHX69.2 is the 2Ω version, correct for dedicated 2Ω-rated amplifiers in stereo. For bridged configurations or 4Ω builds, the CHX69.4 is the 4Ω variant. For the standard CH series at 250W RMS, the CH69.2W is the non-PRO option in the same format.
What This Is Best For
- Custom saddlebag lid enclosures on Street Glide, Road Glide, and Ultra builds — the primary 6×9 position on Harley Touring. Purpose-built saddlebag lids sized for a 6×9 driver give the CHX69.2 the enclosure volume to reach its 46 Hz low-end extension. The CMC™ cone handles the sustained thermal demands of 400W RMS in the saddlebag lid position. The Nanofram™ Horn Cover protects the tweeter horn from rain in the exposed lid position.
- Rear stage builds matching a high-output front fairing stage — riders who have CHX65.2 speakers on the front and want the rear to match in PRO horn character, CMC™ construction, and output headroom. 92 dB rear speakers at 400W RMS keep pace with a high-output fairing stage without the amplifier compensating with disproportionate rear volume.
- Full PRO horn system builds — pairing CHX69.2 rear with CHX65.2 front gives the full system consistent CMC™ PRO horn character and sensitivity profile across all positions, simplifying level matching and system tuning.
- Tour-Pak positions with custom 6×9 lids — aftermarket Tour-Pak lids accommodating 6×9 drivers are available; the CHX69.2 fits those builds, though saddlebag lid installs are the more common application.
⚠ Crossover Setting — Read Before Installing
Set your high-pass crossover to 90 Hz minimum at 24 dB/oct slope before powering the CHX69.2. Horn coaxial drivers reach their mechanical travel limit (XMAX) at low frequencies — crossing over too low causes over-excursion. The damage is mechanical: tinsel lead connections tear from the voice coil/spider assembly as the cone overextends. This is not a power problem. It is a crossover problem.
If pairing with a 10-inch pro mid-bass in a bag divider enclosure: the limited air space of the bag divider requires a higher crossover setting. Set the CHX69.2 to 250 Hz at 24 dB/oct on DSP, or 300 Hz at 12 dB/oct on any amplifier. Any lower crossover point will cause distortion and driver damage.
2Ω vs 4Ω — Choosing the Right Version
The CHX69.2 is a 2Ω speaker. Choose the 2Ω version when running a dedicated 2Ω-rated amplifier in stereo — the FLX1400.4 and FLX2000.4 publish their rated output at 2Ω, which is where the CHX69.2 delivers its full 400W RMS capacity. For bridged amplifier configurations requiring a 4Ω minimum load, the CHX69.4 (4Ω) is the correct choice.
The Bottom Line
400W RMS, 92 dB, 6×9 PRO horn coaxial with CMC™ cone, repairable CHT175 tweeter, Nanofram™ all-weather cover, and tweeter attenuation — the rear stage PRO horn coaxial for saddlebag lid builds.
Ready to upgrade? Add to cart above. For the 4Ω variant, the CHX69.4 is the same speaker at 4Ω. For an 8-inch PRO horn coaxial in larger custom enclosures, the CHX8.2 is the larger-format option.
What's Inside the CHX69.2
The tweeter is an aluminium dome in a horn waveguide, protected by the Nanofram™ Horn Cover for all-weather protection in exposed saddlebag lid and rear stage positions. The removable threaded horn ring allows replacement or modification. The tweeter voice coil is a 1.75-inch (44mm) OFC copper CHT175 unit — repairable, with the coil replaceable if damaged rather than requiring a complete driver swap. Horn loading delivers 92 dB sensitivity. On the road: rear-stage high-frequency output from the saddlebag lid position that contributes meaningfully to system presence, with a serviceable tweeter that can be maintained rather than replaced whole.
The mid-bass cone is Carbon Matrix Composite™ (CMC™) — lighter and more rigid than treated paper, thermally stable under sustained 400W RMS operation. In the 6×9 format, the larger cone area over a 6.5-inch contributes to deeper, more authoritative low-end from the rear stage. Frequency response reaches 46 Hz — substantially lower than the CH69's 75 Hz — making the CHX69.2 a rear stage with genuine bass contribution from the saddlebag position, not just fill. On the road: rear bass with real low-end extension, in a driver that maintains its output characteristics through extended riding.
The 2.5-inch / 64mm Black Coat™ OFC copper mid-bass voice coil handles sustained 400W RMS. The motor is an N35SH neodymium with H-grade temperature rating. The die-cast aluminium basket with Vortex Flow Venting™ manages thermal build-up through active airflow. The tweeter attenuation of -3 or -6 dB allows balancing the horn tweeter's output against the mid-bass in the rear stage acoustic environment — useful where listening axis and distance differ from the front stage.
The external 12 dB crossover is custom-tooled, vented, and encased, with the tweeter attenuation resistor heat-sink encased separately.
Sensitivity and Frequency Coverage
At 92 dB (1W/1m), the CHX69.2 delivers rear-stage output that matches a high-sensitivity front stage level. Combined with 400W RMS power handling and frequency response to 46 Hz, the CHX69.2 makes the rear stage a genuine part of the system rather than a complement to it. The difference in low-end extension vs the CH69.2W — 46 Hz vs 75 Hz — is audible as bass presence from the saddlebag position, not just higher-frequency fill.
Why 2Ω — Amplifier Pairing
At 2Ω, the CHX69.2 extracts full rated output from any 2Ω-stable motorcycle amplifier. The FLX1400.4 and FLX2000.4 publish their rated output at 2Ω stereo, matching the CHX69.2's 400W RMS capacity. For bridged configurations, the CHX69.4 satisfies the 4Ω minimum load requirement. The FLX1000.4 bridged into CHX69.4 at 4Ω is also a supported configuration.
