The rear stage the saddlebag position was built for.
The CX69.2 is Cicada's 6×9" saddlebag coaxial — a 2Ω full-range driver built for motorcycle audio, with 125W RMS, 95.5 dB sensitivity, IMPP cone, Black Coat™ voice coil, DPSH® Dual-Phase Slot Horn tweeter, and Rain or Shine™ weatherproof construction. Grills and mounting hardware included. Sold in pairs.
The saddlebag is the most acoustically capable position on a Harley-Davidson Touring model — more cone area, more air volume, and more low-end capability than the fairing. The CX69.2 is built to use that position properly: 6×9 inches of IMPP cone moving real mid-bass, at 95.5 dB sensitivity from a motor engineered for the thermal reality of an enclosed saddlebag at highway speed.
Who This Speaker Is For
For riders building a proper rear stage — either as a standalone upgrade or as part of a front-and-rear build. The CX69.2 requires a dedicated external amplifier; it does not run from the Boom! Box GTS. Paired with a FLX500.4 or FLX700.4, it delivers a rear stage that actually competes with road noise at highway speed. For bridged-amp configurations or a more conservative build, the CX69.4 is the 4Ω variant.
What This Is Best For
- The amplified rear stage — running the CX69.2 from a dedicated 2Ω-rated amplifier such as the FLX500.4 or FLX700.4 puts the full 125W RMS to work in the saddlebag position. At 95.5 dB sensitivity, the rear stage delivers output that holds up at highway speed.
- Full front-and-rear Touring builds — pairing the CX65.2 in the fairing with the CX69.2 in the saddlebags gives a matched 2Ω front and rear stage across a single four-channel amplifier. The 6×9" cone area covers the lower frequencies while the front stage handles the upper range.
- Riders who want genuine mid-bass from the rear — the 6×9" cone moves significantly more air at lower frequencies than a 6.5" driver. For builds without a dedicated subwoofer, the CX69.2 rear stage carries the low-end responsibility.
- The rear stage in a staged build — add the CX69.2 to an existing CX65.2 front stage, or step up the whole rear to CXX69.2 Pro-series when the build progresses.
2Ω vs 4Ω — Choosing the Right Version
The CX69.2 is a 2Ω speaker — the correct choice for a dedicated 2Ω-stable amplifier running in stereo. Most quality Harley-specific amplifiers including the Cicada FLX500.4 and FLX700.4 are 2Ω stable and deliver more power at 2Ω than at 4Ω. Choose the CX69.4 (4Ω) for bridged amplifier configurations or when a more conservative system with better amplifier thermal margin is the priority.
The Bottom Line
A properly engineered 6×9" saddlebag coaxial built for the Harley 2Ω ecosystem — 95.5 dB sensitivity, 125W RMS, IMPP cone, Black Coat™ voice coil, DPSH® tweeter, weatherproof construction. Requires a dedicated external amplifier. Grills and mounting hardware included.
Ready to build your rear stage? Add to cart above. For bridged-amp configurations or a more conservative build, the CX69.4 is the 4Ω variant.
What's Inside the CX69.2
The cone is IMPP (Injected Moulded Polypropylene) — moisture-resistant and thermally stable, suited to the enclosed saddlebag environment where temperatures can climb significantly under sustained load. The NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber) surround maintains its mechanical compliance through the full temperature range encountered in real riding — from cold morning starts through sustained summer highway running. On the road: the speaker handles the sealed saddlebag environment — heat, vibration, and weather — without the surround degradation that takes out foam-surround speakers over time.
The 1.4-inch Black Coat™ voice coil carries Cicada's proprietary high-temperature treatment on the former and windings. In an enclosed saddlebag under sustained load, voice coil temperature is one of the primary failure points for speakers not built for motorcycle audio. The Shortening Ring in the motor gap reduces inductance at high frequencies, keeping distortion low at the top of the mid-bass range and maintaining a clean handoff to the tweeter. On the road: cleaner output at sustained volume, with the mid-bass staying controlled as power increases rather than compressing and hardening.
The tweeter is a 1.0-inch PEI dome with Neodymium magnet, loaded by Cicada's DPSH® (Dual-Phase Slot Horn). From the saddlebag position, the listening axis is already off-centre relative to the rider — the DPSH® horn geometry maintains broad high-frequency coverage rather than projecting a narrow beam that misses at any angle. The built-in 6dB crossover protects the tweeter from low-frequency excursion without requiring an external crossover. On the road: usable treble detail from the rear regardless of riding position or road speed.
The N35 Neodymium motor and Heavy Duty Injected High Temp Polymer frame complete an assembly designed to run reliably in the mechanical and thermal conditions of a motorcycle saddlebag — vibration, heat, and moisture included.
Sensitivity and Frequency Coverage
At 95.5 dB (1W/1m), the CX69.2 is among the more sensitive coaxials in the 6×9-inch category. On a motorcycle at highway speed, the noise floor is high — wind, road, and mechanical noise all compete with the audio system. A speaker with genuine sensitivity extracts more output from available amplifier power, translating directly to more usable volume at the speeds you're actually riding at.
Frequency response runs 53.6 Hz – 20 kHz (±5 dB). The 6×9-inch cone area moves more air at lower frequencies than a 6.5-inch driver, giving the CX69.2 genuine mid-bass presence without the excursion demands that limit smaller drivers. For builds without a dedicated subwoofer, the CX69.2 rear stage carries the low-end responsibility in the system. For builds pairing the rear with a front stage, the CX65.2 in the fairing handles the upper frequencies while the CX69.2 reinforces the low end.
Why 2Ω — Power and Output
A 2Ω speaker presents a lower electrical load to the amplifier than a 4Ω speaker. When the amplifier is rated for it, that lower load allows more power delivery — and on a motorcycle at highway speed where you're competing with wind and road noise, that extra power is what gives the rear stage presence. An amplifier producing 100W RMS × 4 at 4Ω might produce 175W RMS × 4 at 2Ω from the same hardware.
The trade-off is current demand — a 2Ω load asks more from the amplifier in terms of heat and stress. The CX69.2 should be paired with an amplifier genuinely rated for 2Ω and a properly done install. For bridged configurations or when amplifier thermal margin is the priority, the CX69.4 (4Ω) is the correct choice.
