Cicada Audio CXK69.2 — 6×9" Mid-Bass Component Speaker Kit for 2014–2023 Harley Touring Saddlebag Builds (2Ω)

$1,450.00 AUD
SKU: CXK69.2

250W mid-bass, 101 dB ring radiator horn tweeter. The passive 6×9 component kit for saddlebag lid builds.

The Cicada Audio CXK69.2 is a complete 6×9-inch 2Ω passive component speaker kit — 250W RMS mid-bass, 50W RMS ring radiator horn tweeter with field-replaceable diaphragm, Carbon Matrix Composite™ (CMC™) cone, OFC copper shorting ring, Black Coat™ OFC 2.0-inch mid-bass voice coil, 12 dB external passive crossover at 7 kHz, and all-weather Rain or Shine™ construction throughout. Designed for saddlebag lid speaker positions. Sold as a complete pair kit.

The CXK69.2 is the passive component kit for 6×9-inch saddlebag lid positions — mid-bass, tweeter, and crossover included, no DSP or active crossover required. The primary position is the saddlebag lid: the factory speaker opening on Street Glide and Road Glide platforms that accepts the 6×9 format. Where the CM69.2X is the mid-bass driver alone for active DSP rear builds, the CXK69.2 bundles the same CMC™ 6×9 mid-bass with a dedicated 101 dB ring radiator horn tweeter, a field-replaceable diaphragm, and a 12 dB passive crossover at 7 kHz. The crossover handles the signal split from any external amplifier — no DSP setup required.

Who This Speaker Is For

For riders building passive component rear stages in 6×9-inch saddlebag lid positions who want a tweeter in the lid without building an active DSP system. The CXK69.2 is the 2Ω version, correct for dedicated 2Ω-rated amplifiers in stereo. For bridged configurations or 4Ω builds, the CXK69.4 is the 4Ω variant. For an all-in-one coaxial in the same position, the CHX69.2 is the horn coaxial option. For the front fairing component stage on 2014–2023 Touring models, see the 14CXK65.2.

What This Is Best For

  • Passive component rear stage in saddlebag lid positions — the mid-bass installs in the factory or aftermarket saddlebag lid 6×9 opening; the tweeter mounts separately in the lid for high-frequency projection. One amplifier channel per side drives the complete component system through the passive crossover.
  • Complete passive front + rear component system — the CXK69.2 rear stage pairs with a 14CXK65.2 front component stage for a full passive component system — front and rear — from a single 4-channel amplifier, no DSP configuration required.
  • Upgrading from a coaxial to a component rear stage — riders who want better separation between mid-bass and high frequencies in the saddlebag lid position, more tweeter presence from the rear stage, and the option for future active crossover integration (the field-replaceable diaphragm means the tweeter is serviceable without replacing the driver).
  • Rear stage with field-serviceable tweeter — the CXK69.2 tweeter includes a field-replaceable diaphragm and aluminium die-cast backplate. In a saddlebag lid environment exposed to road debris and vibration, this serviceability is a practical advantage over tweeters that must be replaced as complete units.

2Ω vs 4Ω — Choosing the Right Version

The CXK69.2 is a 2Ω component kit. The system load is driven by the 2Ω mid-bass driver — choose the 2Ω version when running a dedicated 2Ω-rated amplifier in stereo. The tweeter in this kit is 4Ω but operates on its own crossover branch. For bridged amplifier configurations requiring a 4Ω minimum load, the CXK69.4 (4Ω) is the correct choice.

The Bottom Line

250W mid-bass, 101 dB ring radiator horn tweeter with field-replaceable diaphragm, passive crossover at 7 kHz — the complete passive component kit for 6×9-inch saddlebag lid positions.

Ready to build? Add to cart above. For the 4Ω variant, the CXK69.4 is the same kit at 4Ω. For an all-in-one coaxial in the same position, the CHX69.2 is the horn coaxial option.

What's Inside the CXK69.2

The mid-bass driver uses a Carbon Matrix Composite™ (CMC™) cone — lightweight, rigid, and thermally stable under sustained high-output operation. The 2.0-inch / 51mm Black Coat™ OFC copper voice coil handles sustained 250W RMS. The OFC copper shorting ring in the motor gap reduces inductance modulation distortion and extends upper mid-bass response. In the component context, the mid-bass covers from 70 Hz up to the 7 kHz crossover point — the full vocal and instrument body range from the saddlebag lid position. On the road: defined mid-bass and full midrange presence from the rear stage, covering everything from the low-mid through to where the tweeter takes over.

The tweeter is a 1.0-inch shallow ring radiator in a horn waveguide — a ring radiator topology with a wider dispersion pattern and lower distortion at high frequencies compared to a conventional dome tweeter. At 101 dB sensitivity, it delivers strong high-frequency presence from the saddlebag lid at the power levels available from a motorcycle amplifier. The field-replaceable diaphragm is serviceable without removing or replacing the full tweeter assembly — an aluminium die-cast backplate secures the diaphragm and makes field replacement practical in a saddlebag environment. The 12 dB passive crossover at 7 kHz is external, custom-tooled, vented, and encased. On the road: bright, present high-frequency reproduction from the saddlebag lid rear stage that contributes to system presence and rear fill without requiring DSP to integrate.

The crossover sets the transition at 7 kHz — the mid-bass handles 70 Hz to 7 kHz, the tweeter handles 7 kHz to 20 kHz. A system-level high-pass on the amplifier at 80–120 Hz is still recommended to protect the mid-bass driver from sub-bass content it cannot efficiently handle in the saddlebag environment.

Sensitivity and Frequency Coverage

The CXK69.2 operates as two drivers: the mid-bass at 94 dB (1W/1m) and the tweeter at 101 dB (1W/1m). The 7 dB differential between mid-bass and tweeter is less extreme than the 14CXK65 kit's 13 dB gap — the crossover's passive attenuation compensates for the difference. Combined system frequency response runs from 70 Hz (mid-bass lower limit) through to 20 kHz (tweeter upper limit), with the passive crossover at 7 kHz managing the transition. In a saddlebag lid position, the ring radiator horn tweeter's 101 dB efficiency means the rear stage high-frequency presence carries over road noise at practical amplifier levels.

Why 2Ω — Amplifier Pairing

At 2Ω, the CXK69.2 mid-bass extracts full rated output from any 2Ω-stable motorcycle amplifier. The FLX1400.4 and FLX2000.4 both publish their rated output at 2Ω stereo. Paired with a 14CXK65.2 front stage, a 4-channel amplifier drives the complete front + rear passive component system without requiring DSP. For bridged configurations, the CXK69.4 satisfies the 4Ω minimum load requirement.
