A 300W 2Ω horn coaxial for 1998–2013 Harley-Davidson® fairings and 2014+ Indian® tourers – built for a 2Ω-stable amplifier
The Cicada Audio CHX525.2PRO is a 5.25-inch 2Ω coaxial with a horn-loaded aluminium tweeter, rated at 300W RMS (600W peak) with 92dB sensitivity. It pairs a Carbon Matrix Composite™ cone with an N45SH neodymium motor, a vented diecast aluminium basket and Cicada's Nanofram™ horn cover. Each speaker has its own external 12dB crossover with –3dB or –6dB tweeter attenuation. Sold as a pair.
This is the 2Ω version. The CHX525.4PRO is the same speaker wound for 4Ω, which suits bridged channels. The original CHX525.2 stays in the range. The PRO doubles its power rating to 300W RMS, moves to a stronger N45SH magnet and a TIL-former voice coil with flat-wound copper, adds Vortex Flow Venting™ and a cloth surround, and carries a 3-year warranty instead of 2. Check the mounting figures below against your fairing before choosing between them, because the PRO's published mounting diameter is larger.
Who This Is For
Owners of 1998–2013 Street Glide, Electra Glide, Ultra and Road Glide models, and 2014-on Indian® Chieftain®, Roadmaster®, Challenger® and Pursuit® riders, who are running an aftermarket amplifier that is stable at 2Ω and want the most output from each channel. On an older Harley, where the fairing stage has to carry the system over wind and engine noise, a horn tweeter and a 2Ω load get the most from a compact amp. If your front channels are bridged, or you prefer to keep the amplifier at a 4Ω load, choose the CHX525.4PRO.
What This Is Best For
- Getting the full rating from a 2Ω amplifier – most Class-D motorcycle amps make their headline figure at 2Ω. The WX1200.4PRO delivers 300W × 4 at 2Ω, an exact match for this speaker's 300W RMS rating. The FLX1400.4 gives 350W × 4, which asks for sensible gain setting.
- Clear vocals at speed – the horn loads the aluminium dome for 92dB sensitivity and focuses its output toward the rider. That lifts the vocal and cymbal range above wind noise without turning the whole system up.
- Older fairings in real weather – the Nanofram™ horn cover keeps rain off the tweeter, and the Rain or Shine Pro™ construction resists UV and moisture. That matters in a fairing that has already spent ten or more years in the sun.
- Voicing to suit the rider – the –3dB and –6dB attenuation settings let you pull the horn back if it's too forward for your helmet, windscreen height or taste, without adding processing.
- An upgrade path on Indian® tourers – the same speaker suits Chieftain®, Roadmaster®, Challenger® and Pursuit® fairings, so the build logic carries across brands.
Set the High-Pass Before You Power Up
Run the CHX525.2PRO behind a high-pass filter set to 120Hz minimum at 24dB per octave. A horn coaxial this size reaches its excursion limit quickly below that point, and the damage from crossing too low is mechanical, not thermal: the cone over-travels and the tinsel leads tear. If your amplifier only offers a 12dB-per-octave filter, set the frequency higher to get comparable protection.
2Ω or 4Ω – Which CHX525PRO?
Match the speaker to how the amplifier channel will run. On a 2Ω-stable amp in stereo mode, one speaker per channel, the 2Ω version draws more current and makes more power: on many amps the 2Ω rating is around half as much again as the 4Ω figure. That's this speaker. If you bridge two channels into each speaker, the amp sees half the speaker's impedance on each channel, so a 2Ω speaker would load it at 1Ω. Bridged builds need the CHX525.4PRO. If you aren't sure how your amp is wired, check its manual or ask us before ordering.
The Bottom Line
The CHX525.2PRO puts 300W of horn-loaded output into the 5.25-inch positions of a pre-2014 Harley or a modern Indian®, sized for the 2Ω rating of an aftermarket amp. For bridged channels, the CHX525.4PRO is the right version. For a complete system, tell the System Builder your model and year and we'll match the whole system and price it.

What's Inside the CHX525.2PRO
The cone is Carbon Matrix Composite™ (CMC™), a high-temperature composite chosen for a high stiffness-to-mass ratio: light enough to follow fast transients, stiff enough not to flex out of shape when driven hard. On the road: kick drums stay tight at highway volume instead of turning to mush when the cone starts to break up.
The 38.1mm (1.5") mid-bass voice coil is wound with flat copper wire on a lightweight TIL composite former and sealed in Black Coat™ high-temperature thermoset resin. Flat wire packs more copper into the magnetic gap than round wire, and the TIL former and thermoset resin keep the coil stable as it heats. On the road: long hot rides with the volume up are what this coil is built for, not an edge case.
The motor uses N45SH neodymium. N45 indicates a stronger grade than the N35SH used in the original CHX525, and the SH suffix rates it to hold its magnetic strength at high temperatures. A Vortex Flow Venting™ diecast aluminium basket moves air across the voice coil as the cone moves. On the road: a speaker sealed in a fairing on a hot afternoon holds its output and control instead of compressing as it heats.
The low-profile cloth surround is lighter than a rubber roll, so the cone reacts faster and more of the amplifier's energy becomes sound. The aluminium tweeter dome sits in a horn behind the Nanofram™ cover, on a removable threaded horn flange that can be taken off for modification. On the road: rain and road spray are kept off the tweeter without muffling it.
Why 2Ω
Halve the load impedance and an amplifier channel delivers more current into it, which is why motorcycle amps are rated highest at 2Ω. A 2Ω speaker on a 2Ω-stable amp in stereo mode is the combination that produces that headline figure. At 300W RMS, this speaker is matched to the WX1200.4PRO at 2Ω. It also runs within its rating on the FLX700.4 (175W × 4 at 2Ω) and the WX900.4 (225W × 4 at 2Ω), with headroom to spare. The one rule is never to bridge a 2Ω speaker.
Crossover and Tuning
Each speaker runs through its own external 12dB-per-octave crossover, which splits the signal between cone and tweeter at 4kHz. The crossover is housed in a custom-tooled, vented enclosure, and the tweeter attenuation resistor is heatsink-encased so it copes with sustained power. The external crossover handles the split inside the speaker. Your amplifier's high-pass filter still has to keep deep bass away from the cone, so set it at 120Hz or higher at 24dB per octave.
Mounting
Mounting depth is 67mm (2.64") and the published mounting diameter is 144mm (5.67"). Cicada designed the CHX525PRO for 1998–2013 Harley-Davidson fairings and 2014+ Indian® fairings.
