The 6.5" PRO horn coaxial for 2014+ Harley-Davidson® fairings – 300W RMS at 2Ω, with a larger 1.75" tweeter coil
The Cicada Audio CHX65.2PRO is a 6.5-inch 2Ω coaxial with a horn-loaded aluminium tweeter. It is rated at 300W RMS (600W peak) with 92dB sensitivity, and designed to fit 2014 and newer Harley-Davidson factory speaker locations. It uses a Carbon Matrix Composite™ cone, N45SH neodymium motor, 51mm (2.0") flat-wound mid-bass coil and 44mm (1.75") tweeter coil, with a Nanofram™ horn cover and external 12dB crossovers. Sold as a pair.
Alongside the original CHX65.2, which stays in the range, the PRO keeps the same 300W rating and 92dB sensitivity. The changes are in the parts that decide how it behaves when hot and loud. The tweeter voice coil grows from 1.4" to 1.75", and the magnet steps up from N35SH to N45SH. The mid-bass coil is flat-wound on a TIL former, the basket gains Vortex Flow Venting™, and a cloth surround replaces the rubber. The published response tightens to 75Hz–20kHz ±3dB, and the warranty goes from 2 years to 3. The CHX65.4PRO is the 4Ω version.
Who This Is For
Riders on a 2014-or-later Street Glide, Road Glide, Ultra or CVO™ with an aftermarket amplifier that runs at 2Ω, who want the fairing stage to be the loudest, clearest part of the system. It is the speaker for a build where the front pair does the heavy lifting on long highway runs. If the front channels will be bridged, or the whole system is being kept at 4Ω, choose the CHX65.4PRO.
What This Is Best For
- Matching a 300W-per-channel amp at 2Ω – the WX1200.4PRO makes 300W × 4 at 2Ω, exactly this speaker's RMS rating, and its DSP can set the 24dB high-pass this driver wants. The FLX1400.4PRO does the same job at 350W per channel with careful gain.
- Sustained high volume – a bigger tweeter coil spreads heat over more copper, and the vented basket and SH-grade magnet keep the mid-bass stable. That's what separates a speaker that sounds good for ten minutes from one that sounds the same after three hours.
- Treble that carries past the windscreen – horn loading gives the aluminium dome its 92dB efficiency and aims it at the rider. Attenuation at –3dB or –6dB tames it if your screen reflects too much top end back at you.
- A drop-in fit on 2014+ bikes – designed for the factory speaker locations from 2014 onward, so the upgrade doesn't need fabrication in the fairing.
- A matched rear stage – the CHX69.2PRO uses the same PRO construction in a 6×9 for saddlebag lids.
High-Pass First
Set the amplifier's high-pass to 120Hz minimum at 24dB per octave before running the CHX65.2PRO at volume. Below that point a horn coaxial of this size reaches its travel limit, and over-excursion tears the tinsel leads, however much power the speaker is rated for. With a 12dB-per-octave filter, set the frequency higher.
CHX65PRO: 2Ω or 4Ω?
Stereo on a 2Ω-stable amp, with one speaker per channel, is where the 2Ω CHX65.2PRO belongs. It lets the amp deliver its highest rated output. If you bridge two channels into each front speaker, each channel sees half the speaker's impedance, so a 2Ω speaker would pull it down to 1Ω. That build needs the CHX65.4PRO. The two share every part except the voice coil winding, so sound quality is not the deciding factor. How the amp is wired is.
The Bottom Line
The CHX65.2PRO is the 2014+ fairing speaker for a 2Ω amp that is expected to work hard: 300W RMS, a larger tweeter coil and a motor built to hold up when hot. Pair it with the CHX69.2PRO at the rear, or let the System Builder match the whole system to your model and year.

What's Inside the CHX65.2PRO
The 44mm (1.75") tweeter voice coil is the most significant change from the original CHX65. A larger coil has more surface to shed heat and more copper to share the current. On the road: the horn stays clean on a long, loud run, where a smaller coil would start to compress.
The 51mm (2.0") mid-bass coil is flat-wound copper on a TIL composite former, sealed in Black Coat™ high-temperature thermoset resin, and driven by an N45SH neodymium motor. Flat wire puts more conductor in the gap, and the SH grade magnet holds its strength at temperature. On the road: bass control that lasts through summer heat with the fairing closed.
The Carbon Matrix Composite™ cone is light, rigid and heat-resistant. A low-profile cloth surround lets it react faster, and the Vortex Flow Venting™ diecast basket moves air across the coil. On the road: tight, punchy mid-bass that doesn't bloat as you turn it up.
The aluminium dome is horn-loaded behind a Nanofram™ cover on a removable threaded flange, and the Rain or Shine Pro™ build resists UV and moisture. On the road: rain and road spray are kept off the tweeter without muffling it.
Why 2Ω
A 2Ω load lets a 2Ω-stable amp deliver more current, and so more power, from each channel. On the FLX1400.4, for example, output rises from 225W to 350W per channel. With a 300W RMS rating, the CHX65.2PRO is built to take that extra power. The 2Ω version belongs in stereo builds only. It is never bridged.
Sensitivity and Frequency Coverage
At 92dB (1W/1m), the CHX65.2PRO turns amplifier power into volume efficiently, which is what a fairing speaker needs when it is competing with wind noise. The response runs 75Hz to 20kHz within ±3dB. In a motorcycle system, the recommended 120Hz high-pass hands the lowest octave to a mid-bass or saddlebag stage. The internal crossover splits cone and horn at 4kHz with a 12dB-per-octave slope.
Mounting
Mounting depth is 67mm (2.6") and mounting diameter is 145.4mm (5.75"). Cicada designed it for 2014 and newer Harley-Davidson factory speaker locations.
