Dedicated 6×9″ mid-bass for the saddlebag lids of 2014–2023 H-D® Touring — speakers and cut-in kit in one bundle

September bundle offer — ends 30 September 2026.

This bundle pairs the Cicada Audio® CMB69.2 Pro Mid-Bass speakers (2Ω, pair) with the CHDLID 6×9″ Saddlebag Lid Cut-In Mounting Kit. On bikes with standard solid saddlebag lids, adding 6×9-inch rear speakers requires either replacement speaker lids or a cut-in lid kit. The CHDLID is the cut-in route: you keep your factory painted lids, and the kit supplies the alignment jigs, mounting frames and grilles to cut, mount and finish the openings.

Prefer not to cut your factory lids? The 14HDLID69 is a complete replacement 6×9 lid kit in Vivid Black.

What’s in the bundle

  • Cicada Audio CMB69.2 — 6×9″ Pro Mid-Bass speakers (pair). 2Ω, 150W RMS, 88 dB sensitivity, Carbon Matrix Composite™ (CMC™) cone, 38 mm Black Coat™ OFC voice coil, die-cast aluminium basket with Vortex Flow Venting™, and Rain or Shine™ all-weather construction.
  • Cicada Audio CHDLID — 6×9″ saddlebag lid cut-in kit (left and right). Includes precision ABS moulded mounting frames, dual-layer grilles (ABS outer frame with a powder-coated stamped steel insert) and one-time-use ABS alignment jigs for accurate cut-in placement. Speakers mount in the kit; no lids are supplied.

Who this is for

Riders on 2014–2023 H-D® Touring models adding an amplified rear stage to the saddlebag lids, who want dedicated mid-bass drivers rather than coaxials in that position, and who run — or are adding — an amplifier with DSP crossover control.

This is the 2Ω version. Choose it if the rear pair runs in stereo from a 2Ω-stable amplifier channel — a 2Ω speaker draws more from the channel than a 4Ω one, so it gets more of the amplifier’s rated output. Do not bridge it: bridging halves the load the amplifier sees, and a 2Ω speaker would present 1Ω, which is below the safe minimum for most motorcycle amplifiers.

Bridging channels, or keeping the whole system at 4Ω? The CMB69.4 version of this bundle is the one to choose.

What the rear stage adds — and what it doesn’t

The CMB69.2 adds lower-midrange weight and output from the saddlebag lids, with more sound behind the rider and better coverage for a pillion. Levelled and time-aligned properly, it provides rear fill; set too loud or with the wrong delay, it pulls the sound image backwards. It is not a subwoofer or low-bass stage. With the required high-pass in place, the CMB69.2 will not produce deep kick-drum weight or sub-bass.

The CMB69.2 is also a mid-bass driver only — it is specified to 1 kHz and has no tweeter. On its own in the lid it covers the lower midrange. For a two-way rear stage, add a tweeter pair on the CHD69TB tweeter bridge, crossed over through your DSP.

On the road: more output and presence from behind at highway speed, and a pillion who can actually hear the system — provided it is tuned to support the front speakers rather than compete with them.

⚠️ Before you order: a high-pass crossover and an external amplifier are required

The CMB69.2 must not be run full-range or from factory radio power. In a sealed saddlebag lid, the required high-pass is 250 Hz @ 24 dB/octave, or 300 Hz @ 12 dB/octave minimum. Lower settings in a sealed lid risk over-excursion and permanent damage to the driver.

How to check your system: if your amplifier has built-in DSP (FLX700.4PRO, FLX1400.4PRO) or you run a DSP412PRO, you can set the high-pass in the tuning software. If your amplifier’s crossover can’t reach 250 Hz @ 24 dB/octave (or 300 Hz @ 12 dB/octave), you’ll need a DSP or a passive high-pass filter at the correct frequency. Correct crossover, gain and limiter settings matter here — if you’re unsure, contact us before ordering and we’ll check it against your setup.

What else you’ll need

Fitment

Bike 2014–2023 H-D® Touring models with standard solid saddlebag lids — Street Glide®, Road Glide®, Ultra Limited and Electra Glide®
Position Saddlebag lids — cut-in (permanent modification to the lid)
Not compatible Saddlebags with electric locks; 2024+ H-D® saddlebag lids
Speaker cutout / depth 145 × 216 mm (5.7″ × 8.5″) / 99 mm (3.9″)

Cutting a factory lid is permanent. The alignment jigs in the kit are there to get the openings right first time, and we recommend professional installation if you haven’t cut lids before.

The bottom line

A dedicated 2Ω 6×9″ mid-bass pair and the matching cut-in kit for 2014–2023 H-D® Touring saddlebag lids, bundled for September. It adds output and rear coverage to an amplified, DSP-controlled system — set the high-pass before first power-up. Bridging channels or building at 4Ω? See the CMB69.4 version.
