The 4Ω PRO horn 6×9 for Harley-Davidson® saddlebag lids – made for bridged rear channels and all-4Ω builds
The Cicada Audio CHX69.4PRO is a 6×9-inch 4Ω coaxial with a horn-loaded aluminium tweeter, rated at 400W RMS (800W peak) with 92dB sensitivity. It's built for 2014–2023 and 2024+ Road Glide and Street Glide saddlebag lids fitted with a cut-in mounting kit. It uses a Carbon Matrix Composite™ cone, a 64mm (2.5") flat-wound coil, an N45SH neodymium motor and a vented diecast basket, with a Nanofram™ horn cover and external 12dB crossovers. Sold as a pair.
What sets it apart from the CHX69.2PRO is the 4Ω voice coil. That allows two amp channels to be bridged into each rear speaker, and it keeps the current draw down in a four-speaker system. Compared with the original CHX69.4, which stays available, the PRO adds an N45SH motor, a flat-wound TIL-former coil, Vortex Flow Venting™, a cloth surround and a 3-year warranty.
Who This Is For
Riders running the rear stage from bridged channels, typically a dedicated amp for the bags that bridges to two high-power outputs. It also suits builders who keep the whole system at 4Ω so one amplifier can run all four positions with thermal margin. On bikes with standard solid saddlebag lids, adding 6×9-inch rear speakers requires either replacement speaker lids or a cut-in lid kit. For stereo channels on a 2Ω-stable amp, the CHX69.2PRO draws more from each one.
What This Is Best For
- A dedicated bridged rear amp – the WX900.4 bridges to 450W × 2 into 4Ω, close to this speaker's 400W RMS rating once the gain is set sensibly. Its sealed chassis suits an amp mounted near the bags.
- A four-speaker PRO system at 4Ω – with CHX65.4PRO fronts on the FLX2000.4 (331W × 4 into 4Ω), every speaker runs at the same load from one amp, well within its rating.
- Output and coverage behind the rider – a 6×9 adds real output from the rear of the bike and gives a pillion their own sound. Tuned and delayed properly, it fills in behind the front stage rather than competing with it.
- A cooler system – at the same voltage, a 4Ω speaker draws about half the current of a 2Ω one. Across a pair of 400W speakers, that's a meaningful reduction in amplifier heat and charging-system load.
Before You Power It: 90Hz High-Pass
The CHX69.4PRO needs a high-pass filter of 90Hz minimum at 24dB per octave. Below that, a horn 6×9 in a lid reaches its travel limit, and over-excursion tears the tinsel leads. On a 12dB-per-octave filter, set the frequency higher.
When 4Ω Is the Right Rear Speaker
Choose the 4Ω version if you'll bridge channels into the rear speakers, because a bridged output presents half the speaker's impedance to each channel and 4Ω keeps a 2Ω-stable amp within its rating. Also choose it if you want every speaker at 4Ω. If the rear pair will run in stereo on a 2Ω-stable amp, the CHX69.2PRO takes more power from each channel.
The Bottom Line
The CHX69.4PRO brings PRO horn construction to the saddlebag lid at the load bridged and all-4Ω systems need: 400W RMS and 92dB from the back of the bike. Add the right cut-in kit for your year, or have the System Builder assemble the full system, lid hardware included.

What's Inside the CHX69.4PRO
An N45SH neodymium motor drives a 64mm (2.5") voice coil of flat-wound copper on a TIL composite former, sealed in Black Coat™ thermoset resin. The large coil and SH-grade magnet are sized for 400W and for heat soak in a lid. On the road: consistent output from the bags hour after hour, in sun or rain.
The oval Carbon Matrix Composite™ cone is stiff across its span and rides on a low-profile cloth surround. The Vortex Flow Venting™ basket moves air over the coil as the cone works. On the road: punch without flab from a driver that cools itself.
The horn-loaded aluminium tweeter uses a 44mm (1.75") coil behind a Nanofram™ cover on a removable threaded flange. The Rain or Shine Pro™ construction resists UV and moisture. On the road: the tweeter keeps its output in sun, rain and wash water.
Why 4Ω
A bridged amplifier output works each of its two channels into half the connected impedance. A 4Ω speaker keeps each channel at 2Ω, within the rating of a bridgeable motorcycle amp such as the WX900.4 or FLX1000.4. Watch the FLX1000.4's 530W bridged output against this speaker's 400W rating, and set the gain accordingly. In stereo, 4Ω lets a single FLX2000.4 run four PRO speakers at 331W each.
Sensitivity and Frequency Coverage
At 92dB (1W/1m), the CHX69.4PRO is efficient, and it covers 75Hz to 20kHz (±3dB). High-pass it at 90Hz or above. The internal crossover hands off from cone to horn at 4kHz, 12dB per octave.
Mounting
Mounting depth is 95.4mm (3.75"), and the mounting dimension is 216mm (8.5") along the long axis. Cicada designed it for 2014–2023 and 2024+ Road Glide and Street Glide saddlebag lids with a cut-in mounting kit.
