Amplifiers – Street Glide & Ultra 1998–2013

Amplifiers for the 1998–2013 Electra Glide®, Ultra and Street Glide®, including CVO models. The factory radio sends an analogue speaker-level signal, so an amplifier connects through a high-level input adapter or the speaker outputs with no digital interface.

The charging system on these bikes has less headroom than on later Touring models, so compact Class-D amps are usually the practical choice, and a bigger build should include a power, ground and charging review.

Our System Builder covers 2014 onwards, so we spec older bikes by hand. Talk to us about a custom build.

How do you choose an amplifier for a 1998–2013 Street Glide or Ultra?

What suits this platform

  • Right-sized for the platform: compact amps such as the Precision Power MAA4.400, Cicada FLX500.4 and CX250.2D and the Hertz HMP series suit the pre-Rushmore charging system.
  • Room to grow: larger four-channel and mono amplifiers are available where the build includes the charging support to run them.

FAQ

How does an amplifier connect on a 1998 to 2013 batwing?

These bikes output an analogue speaker-level signal from the factory head unit, so the amplifier connects through a high-level input adapter or directly to the speaker outputs. No digital interface unit is required on this platform.

Why does the charging system matter on pre-2014 bikes?

The pre-Rushmore charging system provides less electrical headroom than on later Touring models for a high-current amplifier. Compact, efficient amps suit it well, and a bigger build should add a power and ground upgrade and a charging review. A lithium battery alone does not increase stator output.

How many channels do I need?

A four-channel amp runs front and rear pairs. A two-channel runs one stereo pair, or both channels bridged into one mono load. A monoblock is for a subwoofer.

Where does the amplifier mount?

Compact amps mount in or around the fairing with the right hardware. Larger amps often mount in a saddlebag or another remote location. Check the dimensions against your intended spot before ordering.
