Harley-Davidson batwing Touring speakers in this collection are intended for a compatible position on 2014 to 2023 Street Glide® and Electra Glide® models running the factory Boom! Box radio. The most common upgrade on this platform is a purpose-built 6.5 inch driver in the inner fairing — but that is the upgrade size, not the size Harley fitted at the factory. Three different things — and only one of them answers "what size speaker do I buy?"
- The factory driver size. Most standard 2014 to 2023 Street Glide® and Electra Glide® models left the factory with a 5.25 inch inner fairing speaker. Some CVO and higher-specification factory audio packages used 6.5 inch.
- The factory mounting architecture. The 2014 to 2023 batwing inner fairing housing is deeper and more accommodating than the pre-2014 design, which is why purpose-built 6.5 inch drivers are made for it.
- The upgrade size that fits that architecture. A 6.5 inch speaker designed specifically for this fairing is the standard upgrade, usually with the correct adapter, bracket or grille depending on the product.
"A purpose-built 6.5 inch speaker fits this fairing" is not the same statement as "the factory speaker was 6.5 inch". Both directions cost money: assuming the factory driver was 6.5 inch leads to the wrong part, and assuming every bike in these years is 5.25 inch gets the CVO and higher-spec bikes wrong.

The 2014 to 2023 fairing generally provides more installation room than the pre-2014 design, but basket depth, magnet diameter and grille clearance still need to be checked for each speaker. A suitable foam gasket can improve the seal between the speaker and its enclosure, reduce panel noise and prevent acoustic leakage. Choose the impedance that suits your amplifier, and weigh sensitivity, measured in dB per watt, alongside power for real-world loudness.

What size speakers fit a 2014 to 2023 batwing?
For the inner fairing, a purpose-built 6.5 inch speaker made for this fairing is the standard upgrade. That is not the same as the factory size: most standard Street Glide® and Electra Glide® models of these years came with a 5.25 inch fairing driver, while some CVO and higher-specification factory audio packages used 6.5 inch. Speaker-ready or accessory fairing lowers take a 6.5 inch driver. Tour-Pak pods on Ultra and Limited models were 5.25 inch from the factory and accept up to 6.5 inch. Was my factory fairing speaker 6.5 inch?
Probably not. On most standard 2014 to 2023 batwing models the factory inner fairing driver was 5.25 inch. Some CVO and higher-specification factory systems did use 6.5 inch. Either way, a 6.5 inch speaker purpose-built for this fairing is the normal upgrade — you do not need the factory driver to have been 6.5 inch for a 6.5 inch upgrade to be correct. Does my bike have a saddlebag speaker position?
Check before you buy. On 2014 to 2023 Touring models a saddlebag lid speaker was effectively a CVO-tier feature — an ordinary Street Glide, Electra Glide or Ultra Limited left the factory with no saddlebag speaker opening at all. Where the factory did fit one, the driver was 5x7 inch, not 6x9. To add 6x9 speakers to solid lids you need either replacement speaker lids or a cut-in lid kit.
Should I choose a 2Ω or 4Ω speaker?
Match it to your amplifier. If you plan to bridge two channels into one speaker, many motorcycle amps need a 4Ω speaker or combined 4Ω load, and the amplifier's bridged rating must be checked. In stereo, a 2Ω-stable amp makes more output into a 2Ω speaker on each channel.
Do these speakers need an amplifier?

Can I run fairing, saddlebag and Tour-Pak speakers together?
Yes, provided the bike has, or is given, each of those positions. A common build uses one amplifier channel per fairing and saddlebag speaker. Adding Tour-Pak pod speakers may require additional amplifier channels or a carefully designed shared-channel arrangement that stays within the amplifier's impedance rating.
